dyauspitr··on Newsom Commutes the Sentences of California's 548 Death Row Inmates
This is kind of a huge deal.
dyauspitr··on I wish tech companies knew more about me
Google almost certainly uses stuff in your gmail to recommend ads to you. I had a very, very specific thing that was ongoing for a year or so and as soon as I sent someone an email about it last week, a lot of ads starting showing up for that very specific, not common situation on YouTube.
dyauspitr··on GPT-6 Astra covertly underperforms on safety research
No, but you cannot silently underperform. You have to explicitly tell me that it’s a sensitive area and you won’t do it.
dyauspitr··on GPT-6 Astra covertly underperforms on safety research
Hidden or silent under performance will perpetually have me looking for other options. At the very least, do you have to tell me that you consider this a sensitive area and you are restricting performance as a result.
dyauspitr··on Nasdaq Sinks 5% as Investors Retreat from AI Trade After Election
And is actually the only thing I’m sad about in this whole thing. Ecstatic about the blue wave sad that they’re going to restrict AI progress. It’s the future, and it would be a horrible move to curtail it.
dyauspitr··on AI data centers comprehensively defeated at US midterm elections
Just make sure they keep doing what they’re doing but redirect that gently into building out their own renewable power along with their data center.
dyauspitr··on Study estimates 75% of NFL players who died over 15-year span had CTE
Conformity on things that are hard and furthers the human race is my cup of tea. But I also don’t agree with your analysis, the conformity is primarily around not dabbling in anything that could be considered feminine/gay that I whole heartedly support. Other than that, masculinity encourages breaking the mold in every other facet of life.
dyauspitr··on US voters roundly reject data centers in ballot measures
I’m a progressive through and through, but this is the one aspect of the whole platform I don’t like. I am in the build data centers everywhere, make tokens dirt cheap, and work as hard as possible to make models more and more intelligent camp. The only thing I would like to see is that we keep building massive data centers, but mandate that they have to be powered by their own newly built solar, wind, and battery banks. This would let us keep our lead in frontier models, as well as building out brand new sources of green energy. I believe Massachusetts (?) has already passed legislation that accomplishes this.
dyauspitr··on 'It's just vape, nail, charity shops': Can anything save UK high street?
Ah a thrift store.
dyauspitr··on BYD doubles its Brazil market share to 9.7% a year after opening its local plant
With the Republicans thrown out enmass last night maybe we can go back to the full switch over to becoming an electro state again, and leave this oil and gas bullshit in the past. I’m still not OK with opening our doors to BYD, but I want our own manufacturers to come up to speed and to build out massive charging infrastructure.
dyauspitr··on 'It's just vape, nail, charity shops': Can anything save UK high street?
What the hell is a charity shop? Like a storefront for a non profit that you can donate money to or a shop with cheap subsidized groceries for poor people?
dyauspitr··on The AI Boom May Be Sowing Seeds of Another Financial Crisis
Not until one of the major AI companies says they’ve hit a limit for intelligence for models.
dyauspitr··on Study estimates 75% of NFL players who died over 15-year span had CTE
Only the ones with CTE are going to let their brains be studied.
dyauspitr··on Study estimates 75% of NFL players who died over 15-year span had CTE
There is something to be said for optimizing a life for safety, which just ends up being a milquetoast life. Male culture for a very long time has been about cheering on so-called “stupid” behavior, and honestly, it’s the most beautiful thing about masculine culture. It values courage and breaking away from the group. It’s not something we should lose. I’m gonna go as far as to say it’s probably the whole reason we have civilization.

Yes, you’re optimizing for your kids individual life but nothing we Americans do anymore is holistic. It’s all short-term thinking.

dyauspitr··on Stringman, an $800 open-source room scale gripper robot
The difference is, I want the most efficient design that can complete every physical task that I can. That design is probably humanoid.
dyauspitr··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
Exactly like that.
dyauspitr··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
It’s reading minds…

But seriously, have we tried to run neural data through this. Also, we have no idea what other behavior it modified unless they were able to run a complete regression.

dyauspitr··on Intel stock collapse worsens as $3.5T chip rout spreads
Im still bullish on them at this price though. The terafab (already under construction) collab with Elon and 14A being the most powerful chip when they get it right has a lot of potential.

> It would still be one expert model chosen to operate on another expert model of (let's say for this discussion) approximately the same size.

This would be earth shattering. That would mean we’re essentially at RSI.

dyauspitr··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
I think the latter is more impressive…
dyauspitr··on BYD sold more EVs last month than the US did all quarter
The government is doubling down on helping their big oil buddies/donors.
dyauspitr··on BYD sold more EVs last month than the US did all quarter
Until this troglodyte administration is done. EVs are the future, the US will have to make the change at some point.
dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
You’re not getting it. There might be a chance humans never have to be in this field again so why bother understanding it unless you need it for another unsolved field and at that point you just ask the LLM to explain what you need. We’re obviously not there yet but that is the logical conclusion to this process.
dyauspitr··on Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen
RSI RSI RSI RSI!
dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
Like a toaster that just toasts bread.
dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
This is the dumbest, most troglodyte “solution” to this frontier pushing development. WHO does this benefit besides a handful of mathematicians?
dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
This is another 15 min phase like “prompt engineering”. Soon it’s going to be just a CEO and an LLM.
dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
> Mathematics has become a field where results themselves matter less

Results are the only things that truly matter. Everything else is a position advocating for someone’s quality of life.

> writing code can sometimes be delegated to AI, and is arguably less important than understanding what the customer really wants from this software.

It’s still early days and the LLM can already ask the customer what they want directly.

dyauspitr··on Mathematics has changed. Let's act like it
It’s too early to tell but math could be an AI only field with automatic research and advancement.
dyauspitr··on Nurses Sound Alarm as 'Uber for Nursing' Apps Push to Deregulate Healthcare
Yeah, I was relying on anecdotal experience so I went and looked it up and they do an incredible amount. Well, it’s too late though I can’t modify or delete my comment anymore.
