fasj82··on I switched from iPhone to the Pixel 2: One-week report
No, they should've designed it correctly in the first place.

The sensors should store the information inside themselves and then sync with the mobile when I open the app. No need to have my mobile awake all the time for something like that.

>It's OK to make mistakes.

We should punish mistakes. Especially stupid mistakes.

That's bad

Then you call Apple. A guy comes and picks your mobile up, and then another guy comes and gives you a new mobile.
fasj82··on Jan Koum to leave after broad clashes with Facebook
WhatsApp had 55 employees and I'd say it had no marketing to speak of.
fasj82··on Jan Koum to leave after broad clashes with Facebook
Do you need more than $10M/year for 450M users? As I've said in another comment they barely stored anything server-side and it's known they have a very optimised stack
fasj82··on Jan Koum to leave after broad clashes with Facebook
It does not take much money to run a messenger, especially one that does not store conversations or files server-side once they are delivered.

It's not an adversarial-y written EULA, it's something like this

>They didn’t realize quiz apps would harvest a huge amount of data about their profiles.

They would've known, had they read the dialog they had to accept to access their much desired quiz.

Wow, racial slurs. I'm sure that can trigger some kind of trauma on them
fasj82··on France seizes france.com from man who's had it since 1994
I'm not saying this is a squatter.
fasj82··on France seizes france.com from man who's had it since 1994
Maybe I'm weird but I think France.com belonging to France is the just thing. The last thing we need is giving more rights to squatters.

Checkmate, democracy.
fasj82··on Whatsapp user’s IP disclosure with Link Preview feature
I'm shocked that something this obvious has not been worked around.
fasj82··on Whatsapp user’s IP disclosure with Link Preview feature
Maybe it's me, but this is really, really bad. Probably because I come from an IRC background.

I had assumed these request were proxified, but I didn't realise that would go against E2E. Now I'd like to see an option to disable these previews.

fasj82··on Fake books sold on Amazon could be used for money laundering
Obviously? You can't imagine what % of money you could lose when you launder using other methods. Also this one is totally safe... compared to some other ones ;)
fasj82··on A coworker stole my spicy food, got sick, and is blaming me (2016)
Can't compare coffee capsules to food you cooked yourself.
fasj82··on Features of a successful therapeutic fast of 382 days' duration (1973)
Why is this a bad idea, supposing you are fat enough to do it?
fasj82··on Theology majors marry each other a lot, but business majors don’t
Remove the end of the url "?w=500"

I use the Imagus addon which does this kind of stuff automatically
