It is huge blinking neon sign that screams 'get out now'. Unless you are also doing the marketing of course.
On one recent project, the go memory profiler was showing about 35MB allocated while top showed memory usage at 500MB to 1GB. In another instance the performance profiler would show microseconds elapsed while the user experienced tens of minutes with no response from the program.
I really think they should consider including a function level profiler instead of just a sampler, as well as provide more insight/control over all the goroutines that are generated.
Just saying golang is better than node.js may not be saying all that much.
Russia heading fast to dystopia is not surprising, really.
Also, I find it unlikely that without a free/open software ecosystem like linux or bsd they will get very far. Building a startup culture on a general computing foundation of massively pirated windows os is just not going to work.
These days I feel the advantages of a smartphone outweigh the downsides. Still hate phone companies though and hope they get disrupted out of existence.
There is just a ton of information and context the computer probability models do not have. They can use all the big data they want, but are capturing only a very thin slice of real world information.
Both rule-based and statistical approaches are fundamentally flawed by not incorporating any real world information. Humans do language going from real world info, mapping to grammar or rules. Computers are trying to go the other way and are not going to succeed other than as mere toys.
Even tech progression-wise, both rule and model/nn approaches are really bad since there is no meaningful sense of iterative progress or getting better step by step, unlike cpu chips or memory speeds. They are more of a random search in a vast space, hit or miss, getting lucky or not, which is very bad no good, as a technology or as a career.
Seems to me the easier solution is to lessen their load directly, push back dramatically on deadlines, force vacations/breaks for them to unwind, and try to inculcate pride in work by increasing ownership and financial rewards. Maybe pay for design conferences, courses, museum/gallery visits or a trip to Japan/Switzerland.
But purpose can also depend on beliefs. If you believe in reincarnation for example, making the world a better place is a valid goal, since you are much more likely to be reborn in Africa/South Asia in absolute poverty than in the richer parts of the world or in a rich family.
Well it was not worth it. Except for GCHQ calling facebook 'FBHQ'. That was sufficiently creepy.
