gigatexal··on Inkling 2 Small
That’d be the inflection point I’m waiting for!
gigatexal··on Search for everyone
Can you shed more light on this?
gigatexal··on US tech giants' hidden AI debt swells 90% to $3.2T in 6 months
All these special purpose off balance sheet things always smelled bad to me. Here’s hoping it blows up and takes all of it down 50 percent or more. Heck go 99% down. I’ll buy everything I can get my hands on.
gigatexal··on Ask HN: Is the Microsoft buyout just a long overdue correction?
tell me you have valuable RSUs / options without telling me you have valuable RSUs / options...

that or you're a very highly compensated tech worker (congrats btw, no shade, legit congrats) that is also a real estate speculator...

gigatexal··on Ask HN: Is the Microsoft buyout just a long overdue correction?
Wages aren’t rising, jobs are harder to get it goes on and on.
gigatexal··on Ask HN: Is the Microsoft buyout just a long overdue correction?
This. Consumption is up, savings rates are down. Core inputs into the economy are too expensive like meat and gas.

It’s only rosy in the aggregate and then maybe for areas overlooked and for the wealthy.

It can’t stay like this forever. Something will have to give. The rest of the working class folks and lower will not put up with being lied to all day long, well maybe if they voted Trump it won’t matter. Nvm nothing to see here. No minds ever change.

gigatexal··on Through Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart taught us the measure of a man
More patterning one’s life after this man our captain than the andrew Tate and Elon’s of the world. Please!
gigatexal··on Blockchain intelligence firms link North Korea to $6.3B hack on Binance
Why would anyone trust CZ with their digital crime tokens?
gigatexal··on Patrick Stewart has died
noooooooooo sad day

more of us men should be like him and who he was and what he stood for

gigatexal··on Meta censored the No Kings Instagram account during a nationwide campaign
Yup and amidst all this chaos giant companies (the new east India companies) will run roughshot over everything. I still hope a new administration would have taken Elon to task for giant nitrogen oxide spewing gas turbines for his data center in lower income largely black towns. I can hope I guess.
gigatexal··on Meta censored the No Kings Instagram account during a nationwide campaign
Step 1 take Congress. Step 2 in 2028 take the White House. Step 3 start fixing all the damage of the last 2 Trump administrations. I’m long the US. We will get there.

Of course he knows where his bread is buttered. And he will cozy up to the new powers too. He has no spine. No moral code. It’s all power and money and meta. Fine. Good for shareholders. Bad for young men everywhere trying to pattern themselves after these barrons of industry.

gigatexal··on Meta censored the No Kings Instagram account during a nationwide campaign
When the Dems take Congress good ol’ Zuck will be woke again. The man has no spine. And because he doesn’t his share price has skyrocketed.
gigatexal··on Alphabet Announces Third Quarter 2026 Results [pdf]
Meh I bought the dip. Google has such giant moats. I’m still hugely long tech.
gigatexal··on MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch
ahh that's no bueno...

is the touch part of the display toggle-able? i don't mind a better display but i have no, not a single desire ever to touch it.

gigatexal··on Tell HN: I'm going on strike this November
White collar protests are a rich 300-700k+-a-year-engineer luxury. Not for the rest of us.
gigatexal··on Tell HN: I'm going on strike this November
Have fun with that. But … I’m not in a position to have such a luxury. I got a family to feed and bills to pay. Idealism died when I got a mortgage and got married.
gigatexal··on Expanding our partnership with GSA to bring Claude to all levels of government
My question exactly. Interested in seeing how far they take this.
gigatexal··on Z2ram from Former Intel CEO
Was… it still is some of the best you can buy on the used market new or old. Best endurance and speed. Shame they got rid of it.
gigatexal··on Microsoft offers voluntary buyouts to a quarter of its workforce
what're these buyouts like? what does it entail? What kind of package are they getting?
gigatexal··on Z2ram from Former Intel CEO
I've been thinking Intel should bring back it's other-than-cpu biz, get into memory, bring back 3dxpoint, all these things. Could then vertically integrate: intel CPUs + intel chipsets + intel ram + intel nics + intel ... then sell the whole integrated thing for more than the sum of its parts.

this could be one part of that.

gigatexal··on Anthropic S-1
> Put another way Anthropic has committed 52 billion dollar a year to these companies and their S-1 indicates they earn 67.2B a year in revenue.

A very large part of that revenue is paying for inference. There’s not enough leftover for the committed outlays. So it has to come from smucks I mean investors.

gigatexal··on John Carmack on the Goose Language: multiple data stacks and relative references
Would be interesting to see Luke’s Zed language from the replies on HN.
gigatexal··on Kimi K3.1 Pro and K3.1 Pro Highspeed
What’re my fellow devs thinking? Are they any good? Should I send some of my openrouter funds its way?
gigatexal··on OpenBSD 8.0
Is there a nice place curating the best patches? Or a bespoke distribution of sorts for dwm?
gigatexal··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/4aRTR6uE9PE, not even modern, it's been there for years.
gigatexal··on DeepSeek banned from U.S. federal civilian agencies under new DHS order
Google knows more about you or I than we care about. Facebook can target the one gay person in a town of 300 people. And so on, and so on.

Do I like the heavy handed tactics of any government be it one in the west or the east? no.

Can I do anything about it? Can you? haha no.

Do you think user agreements mean anything? Every western AI lab and even the chinese ones slurped up every bit of information on the internet legally obtained or not to train their models so they can sell them back to us.

> Despite China having really great PR this is still a country which has exactly zero free speech, controls 100% of media and internet, keeps people in concentration camps.

ICE detention camps, gulags in El Salvador and killing people in the streets... Brenden Carr going after comedians on TV making big baby trump mad...

China and the US are not so dissimilar. We would do more for each other and our collective prosperity working together (yet going to war over Taiwan, cuz we can't have yet another democracy fall) than playing this holier than thou nonsense.

gigatexal··on OpenBSD 8.0
Yup. I have heard the siren call. I’ll be putting it on an old fanless sbc router I have that is just sitting around since I upgraded.

What window managers is everyone running? I’m thinking i3 or dwm

gigatexal··on DeepSeek banned from U.S. federal civilian agencies under new DHS order
When you can’t compete on price you ask your pedo Uncle Sam to help your businesses …

Deepseek models are awesome. I use them all the time and they keep getting better.

gigatexal··on Tesla Roadster
Is there a betting market for if this car actually ships or? Cuz I don’t think it will.
gigatexal··on Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins
