goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Airover – Easiest way to drop and reply to audio messages
It is like Calendly, where you have a URL, and others can leave audio messages for you. Great for birthday wishes, clarifying emails over an audio message and more.

I had a need for one such tool, especially when trying to explain something to a customer who sends a lengthy email and expects a lengthy response from me. Now, I just record an audio message, share that URL to the customer when replying, and they reply back via audio message.

Made a world of difference.

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Hellonext – User feedback, feature voting, & roadmap for PMs
Hello HN, I have been bootstrapping Hellonext (https://hellonext.co) for a while now, and we just released 2.0 for over 7,000 customers today. I thought I should share this with you as well in belief that you will get some value out of it.

A few years ago we were on Product Hunt for a platform called Evolvr (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/evolvr-io-2). We were too early to the market and iterated the idea till we arrived at Hellonext.

Hellonext helps you complete the customer feedback cycle, helping you build better product features based on data. Here's what we are good at:

- Updates & improvements every 24 hours;

- Major features every 14 days;

- 100% hosted and operated in the EU;

- Trusted by banks, healthcare providers and governments;

- Attention to detail in design, performance & customer inputs;

- Affordable (basically we priced it at what we would pay for a customer feedback tool);

We are bootstrapped (and proud) and independent. Nothing is being tracked, hence the trust banks and governments have on us. The adrenaline is still pumping for me while writing this, and we are committed to Hellonext for years to come.

Teams have been using Hellonext for various use-cases:

- Collect & manage customer feedback;

- Run Customer Advisory Group (CAB) activities on Hellonext;

- Internal idea collection and management;

- Even publish company policies and have employees vote on them before making them final;

- Governments are using it for municipalities to quickly vote on resources they need to handle COVID situation;

We are just 18 people building this out and we're investing big on Hellonext. Hope you like using Hellonext; if not, ping me with your feedback, I'll be sure to push it as soon as possible.

Here's to a safer future for all of us!

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Plausible – Self-Hosted Google Analytics alternative
Actually, yes. Especially the enterprise customers. Their legal used to give us a tough time to understand what trackers we use, this increased especially after the GDPR came into existence.

I wouldn’t say we are closing ‘BECAUSE’ of this. But it has been a contributing factor to convince the customers to trust us and literally prove a point that we are not these data-hungry people.

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Plausible – Self-Hosted Google Analytics alternative
Plausible is the best thing that has happened to us at https://hellonext.co. Such a beautiful product, and has helped us get more customers from the EU as well, since they know that we are not really in the business of helping other companies track them and push ads down their browsers.
goddamnsteve··on Ask HN: Moving from a startup to a big co, what should I be aware of?
Bias. A huge deal in these corporates. You’re going to have to either learn how to navigate it or to live with it.

On the other hand, you will get a ton of exposure learning from others and knowing more people. That’s always there for sure at large organizations. Above all, a sense of being a part of a cult.

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Run VSCode on iPhone and iPad
Great effort. But here’s why I will not be buying it:

1. Source code is EVERYTHING. Especially when it comes to my clients’.

2. $2.99/mo? Really? I understand that you have a server running where my code is stored (scary), but $2.99/month is insane.

The app could have been a wrapper or a render which allows my own code-server IP to be entered and your customizations kick in. That, would have made it much more valuable than me paying for a open source project as well as to have my proprietary information stored in your server.

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: My new SaaS side-project, after years of open source
This is beautiful, and love the concept. Of course, the sales pitch and the product design could be improved.

Might want to add them here: https://hellonext.co

goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Hellonext.co – Extremely simple customer feedback tool
I just launched my side project, hellonext.co; an extremely simple product that allows your customers to provide feedback/feature requests and upvote existing ones;

As a product owner, I'm trying to see if this can help product managers set their roadmap with the data the receive from hellonext; I'm looking for beta users, and people from r/Entrepreneur can avail free subscription for the first one year. If you think there is something missing in the platform, please provide your feedback at https://hellonext.co/feedback

As a customer, you can maintain one single account and follow multiple products that you use and give them feedback before or after you buy the product; and you get regular updates about the changes in the feedback/feature you requested;

P.S.: Trying to build out a better landing page though. But I'm sure you can get a sense of the product once you sign up. :)

goddamnsteve··on Glassdoor and its effect on workplace culture
Have been having a touch time fighting Glassdoor to remove fake reviews. I have no clue whatsoever how Glassdoor verifies their reviews, and their support is probably the worst I've ever experienced with any American company. Not sure how much this is going to change or affect them. But still, thought I should tell this out.
goddamnsteve··on Ask HN: If you were to build a CRM today what would your stack be?
1. Ruby on Rails

2. ReactJS

3. Foundation for Rails

4. MySQL

This is literally everything you need to get it off the ground as soon as possible.

This is what has helped me build Allt.in (https://allt.in) and UnderstandBetter (https://understandbetter.co/)

goddamnsteve··on Update On The HydraDock Project Status
I loved what ZenDock stood for, but again, was a huge letdown.
goddamnsteve··on Introducing the Open Images Dataset
Even I've been searching for some links for the trained models. May be its too early for now.
goddamnsteve··on When India’s Pied Piper was short of cash, the founders operated from a car
lol! If only it existed in real-life, we would have definitely checked with that. :)
goddamnsteve··on TRAI says no to differential pricing, supports net neutrality
Honestly, TRAI restored our faith. They literally saves us.
goddamnsteve··on Facebook is blocking our ads: Hike Messenger
Every single time Facebook does something like this, I keep losing respect on Mark. Stand and fight. Don't run away in a war Facebook.
goddamnsteve··on India may pull plug on Facebook’s bid to offer free Internet service
If this is sanctioned, it would be worth the time people have spent fighting against Free Basics than the ones who were tricked to support it.
goddamnsteve··on India's telecom regulator cracks down on Facebook for its Free Basics campaign [pdf]
The hardest part is that, there are Indian minds at Facebook designing these schemes for India. Such a shame on them.
goddamnsteve··on Show HN: Eclips – Pinterest for Video
Have been using it for quite sometime, and I love it. Great job Dan. Wish you got some more press.
goddamnsteve··on Automatic video summaries
This is genius.
goddamnsteve··on Evolvr.io – IMDb for Products and Companies
Hello there,

I'm the creator of Evolvr.io. We are fixing the rough spots as quick as possible, and would love to get in touch with you to know where these things are pretty rough. Honest to god, I've been replying to over 3K emails in the past 48 hours. Listening to all the feedbacks and improvements.

I've replied to some amazing people over here at Product Hunt => http://www.producthunt.com/tech/evolvr-io-2. We want Evolvr.io to be the most authoritative place on the internet to find any company or product's story, in a very beautiful way.

We are also integrating this with some of the most powerful APIs on the planet, and more info on that will be posted soon once we sign those deals. But seriously, thanks to the OP of this post. Would love your feedback anytime. My email ID => karthik@skcript.com :)

goddamnsteve··on S3Proxy allows applications using the S3 API to access other object stores
Agreed. Even I was looking for the statistics in the Readme. May be, they will add after seeing your comment.
goddamnsteve··on Review my startup, whiteboard.co
I really love the idea. But the first time I saw the site, with the description, I thought, Oh god, is this just another to-do list or task management app? Well, I was convinced later. I'm going to give the app a shot. I'm going to implement this for a small team in my company (Skcript.com) to check how this works. But truly, a neat and good idea. The app looks pure.
goddamnsteve··on Michael Schumacher out of coma and released from hospital
Finally!
goddamnsteve··on How do you deploy beta testing versions your iOS apps?
I've been developing apps and have been using only TestFlight to distribute apps to testers. I don't think there's any other way other than TestFlight. :/
