hackernud3s··on Through Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart taught us the measure of a man
Heh. I didn't notice it when i was a kid, but when I rewatch them it feels overly moralizing.
hackernud3s··on Cloudflare Turnstile solver library (no headless browser required)
That's smart, I didn't think of that. You could even actually control a website with turnstile just by telling it to deploy something to workers.
hackernud3s··on Through Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart taught us the measure of a man
It could get a bit preachy, honestly.

Just out of curiousity, which model did you use and what did you say to convince it to help? I'm pretty sure Claude would have told you to kick rocks.
hackernud3s··on Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance
right but too late to call freeze on the original wallet address as per gp's post. I would imagine it got distributed to many wallets and attempts to tumble by the time Tether could move on it.
hackernud3s··on Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance
Isn't it already too late at that point? The tokens would have moved already.
hackernud3s··on SS United States to be sunk as largest artificial reef
Headed for Davey Jones' Locker.
hackernud3s··on Solar power is becoming bigger than nuclear
I live in a place that gets typhoons, but there's probably only one big enough to rip my panels off every once in 5 years. Still, you never know which one it will be and I don't look forward to having to taken mine inside for false alarms.
hackernud3s··on Every AI model has the same "controversial" take on humans
The internet to the rescue. I guarantee you will never be wrong alone.
hackernud3s··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
My point was that pork can compete with tofu under the right conditions.

Heck, unless you're riding your bike to buy groceries, you will spend more than the extra 1-2 extra kg in gas getting to the supermarket (3-4 miles per kg CO₂e)

hackernud3s··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
For one thing, many people can't afford to feed their family tofu at supermarket prices.

Also, infra? Poor people just call it their yard.

hackernud3s··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
It depends on how you do it.

Supermarket tofu is around 3 kg of CO₂e per kg. If you fatten pigs in your backyard and butcher them on site you can get pork down to around 4 or 5. I do realize McDonald's isn't doing it that way though.

hackernud3s··on The 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement is no longer viable
The problem is the people you would need to convince. You'd be selling to people who largely won't care and don't want to be inconvenienced.
hackernud3s··on Lula supporters protest against Meta to denounce its 'electoral interference'
They interfered with him trying to steal that election. That doesn't count?
hackernud3s··on The fire retardant in the seafood chain
There's a video of Vietnamese fish farmers on the side of the screen that clearly relates to this story but I don't speak Vietnamese so I guess I just have to wonder how.
hackernud3s··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
The most impressive thing about SerpApi is their legal team. The technical side is all trivial.
hackernud3s··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
Apples to oranges, really. Not many providers are drop-in compatible with SerpApi, serpgrab.com comes to mind.
hackernud3s··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
That just means they have proxies in Pakistan, that's not as impressive as you're making it sound.
hackernud3s··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
$1 with Serper, and it gets lower with volume. I thought I remembered Serp Api being higher than that. They do have a decent free tier
hackernud3s··on Solar surpasses nuclear power globally for first time
Solar is full on hockey-sticking in that "share of generation by source" graph. That's a beautiful thing to see.
hackernud3s··on Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men
I mean if you want to get all Nietzsche about it, then suicide is no longer a permanent solution.
hackernud3s··on Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men
What I really don't like is to hear people who aren't struggling with it, to call someone else's on-going struggle "a temporary problem".
hackernud3s··on Do dentists know what they're doing?
Since we're sharing anecdotes, I had a guy who couldn't pull my wisdom teeth. He really got in there with the pliers, got his leg up on the chair for leverage and was really yanking on it but it wouldn't give. He was a big guy too, really broke a sweat.

Finally he gave up but first he tried to talk me into going into a hospital for more heavy duty anesthetic. I was like nah.

hackernud3s··on Worlds more habitable than Earth?
> nor would anyone be able to understand your language.

Huh? We already have machines that can understand any language from a sample.

hackernud3s··on Worlds more habitable than Earth?
At least it's soundproof though. There's nothing worse than having to hear your neighbors bicker.
hackernud3s··on Generative AI scandal has come to one of Nikon's competitions
I don't understand how that's possible. Photographers are just spicy primates.
hackernud3s··on US man given prison sentence for bot-farming music streams
Yeah but whey you order food it never looks quite as good as the picture in the menu.
hackernud3s··on US man given prison sentence for bot-farming music streams
Marketing is always misleading. It just can't be overly misleading.
hackernud3s··on Ask HN: What do you run on a $5 VPS that's worth keeping online 24/7?
DC ips are the worst for web browsing. You think captcha is annoying now, just wait until you try exiting through one of those.
hackernud3s··on Ask HN: What do you run on a $5 VPS that's worth keeping online 24/7?
You never really know though, do you? Some things are ending up in spam and you don't know which ones.
