hstaab··on Ask HN: Is WordPress the best way to create new websites for beginner
Cloudflare launched some alternative (also compatible iirc) to WP built on Astro this year. I haven’t tried it but might be worth a look.
hstaab··on Ask HN: Due to spam on GitHub, what platforms can I move my projects?
For read-only code sharing, I would say use cgit and a VPS.

If you need a forge with all the bells, grab a copy of Forgejo and modify it to your liking.

Either way, consider using a VPS or a machine you own with Tailscale/VPN. It can be as simple as you'd like it to be.

I’ve talked to some local people who are convinced that panels slowly leach heavy metals into the surrounding ground.

They mainly argue against it on residential & farm land (Midwest USA) for this reason.

For those recommending against SES for critical deliveries, what are you using?

In the recent past I’ve used Postmark, but they were acquired by a marketing company.

hstaab··on The Mac Pro’s biggest problem is the MacBook
I think it’s a matter of lifestyle choices as well when comparing to the studio. A lot of us work on our computers for a good portion of the day, why not have the $3000 upgrade that looks way cooler?

People make these upgrades in trim options on their cars all the time.

hstaab··on Thoughts on React vs. Vue vs. Everything Else in 2023
IMO this only kicks the can down the road. I like to understand my build system from the beginning; these project-init scripts change so frequently.
