inverted_flag··on US Job Growth Picks Up
Can these statistics be trusted still?
inverted_flag··on Gone in 40 days: US drops ban on export of chip design tools to China
What a gift to the Chinese this administration is.
inverted_flag··on [dead]
The sooner you switch away the better. Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s a hassle you deal with once, unlike the gimmicky bullshit Microsoft adds to Windows every few years in a desperate attempt to boost sales.
inverted_flag··on Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" likely created with AI – what does this imply?
This administration is too stupid to write coherently without the aid of AI. It’s a way for them to dress up their low IQ ideas.
inverted_flag··on US Supreme Court Upholds Texas Porn ID Law
Oh boy, I can’t wait until I have to submit my government id to some random “age verification” provider just so I can read Oglaf.
inverted_flag··on Apple Better Off Taking 25% Tariff Hit Than Move iPhone Production to US
I wonder when some large company is going to do the math and realize it would be cheaper to take out a hit than to suffer through wildly swinging tariffs for the foreseeable future.
inverted_flag··on The End of California's Green Car Dream
Meanwhile, China forges ahead.
inverted_flag··on CDC can no longer help prevent lead poisoning in children, state officials say
What’s the steelman for this, MAGA voters? Anyone?
inverted_flag··on I have tinnitus. I don't recommend it
I’ve been reluctant to seek out the Lenire since a number of people claim it made their tinnitus worse
inverted_flag··on Trump administration halts Harvard's ability to enroll international students
Remember when Trump said you should get a green card with your diploma? Wasn't even a year ago:

inverted_flag··on I have tinnitus. I don't recommend it
Did you use the Lenire? I was hoping the Susan Shore device would be available by now since it supposedly had a much better study backing it but it seems to be stuck in limbo. I’m not even sure if it’s been submitted to the FDA yet.
inverted_flag··on I have tinnitus. I don't recommend it
I pray every day for a cure.
inverted_flag··on Australian man details abuse in Chinese prison
This story would be front page if it happened in the US. Instead, crickets.
inverted_flag··on Gen Z Loves China, and Nobody Knows Why [video]
Because there’s a literal army of China boosters all over social media. China also controls the social media app most popular with that demographic. “Nobody knows why” my ass.
inverted_flag··on 'Second chance': convicted US chemist Charles Lieber moves to Chinese university
> Between 2012 and 2017, Lieber received around US$200,000 for work at the Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China, funds that he allegedly hid from the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He also told US investigators that he was not associated with a Chinese recruitment programme, called the Thousand Talents Plan, when he had been selected through it to lead a laboratory at the WUT.

He made his choice long ago.

inverted_flag··on Chinese 'kill switches' found hidden in US solar farms
I think the opposite is true, and that China knows there won’t be serious repercussions from this.
inverted_flag··on Trump warns Walmart: Don't raise prices due to my tariffs
Literally communist!
inverted_flag··on XAI says "unauthorized" prompt change caused Grok to focus on "white genocide"
This was a clumsy attempt, but it shows that AI companies can and will use their AIs to mass influence public opinion.
inverted_flag··on DHS Is Considering Reality Show Where Immigrants Compete for Citizenship
The people in this administration revel in cruelty. It is their sole motivation.
inverted_flag··on Sitting for a long time shrinks your brain even if you exercise
I wonder if this holds up in younger adults as well.
inverted_flag··on [dead]
There's basically zero chance of this passing, and if it did, the supreme court would tear it to shreds for obviously violating the 1st amendment. Mike is just posturing. The smarter prudes are counting on the various age verification bills to de facto ban pornography.
inverted_flag··on Trump executive order demands pharma industry price cuts
> "Everybody should equalize. Everybody should pay the same price," Trump said.

It’s very understated how communist Trump is. See also his comments on children having too many dolls.

inverted_flag··on U.S. inks bill to force geo-tracking tech for high-end gaming and AI GPUs
> The first and central provision of the bill is the requirement for tracking technology to be embedded in any high-end processor module or device that falls under the U.S. export restrictions.

How would this even work? Embedding gps modules in gpus? Is this as insane as it sounds?

inverted_flag··on U.S. and China agree to slash tariffs for 90 days in major trade breakthrough
So still nothing substantial yet, just more chaos.
inverted_flag··on Apple helped China become America's biggest tech rival
You could tell this same story about every company that’s outsourced manufacturing to China. China took the apocryphal Lenin quote about “selling us the rope with which to hang them” and turned it into industrial policy.
inverted_flag··on Trump to accept luxury jet from Qatar to use as Air Force One – media report
It’s going to take them months to find and remove the bugs from this thing.
inverted_flag··on This Los Angeles port is among the first casualties of Trump's trade war
They’re the primary obstacle to port automation. The US has only 3 fully automated port terminals because the unions throw a tantrum and vow to strike the economy into oblivion whenever they feel threatened by increasing automation.

The east coast union in particular, the ILA, is a real rats nest and it’s a shame they aren’t as impacted by the trade war as the west coast union.

inverted_flag··on This Los Angeles port is among the first casualties of Trump's trade war
If the trade war somehow killed off the longshoremen unions, it would have been 100% worth it.
inverted_flag··on U.S. Announces China Trade Deal in Geneva
I’m sure they’ve been completely outplayed by the Chinese negotiators and have unwittingly agreed to a deal with second order effects that massively benefit China.
inverted_flag··on Cognitive deficits in people who have recovered from Covid-19 (2021)
Even being vaccinated doesn’t completely protect you from the cognitive effects of Covid. Everyone who’s had it has some level of permanent brain damage.
