isaacwaller··on Comparison of text editing methods
If you don't mind connecting it to your computer via USB, an AlphaSmart is exactly what you're looking for, and it's from the 90s :)
isaacwaller··on Google Wallet and Softcard
Apple Pay does work in Canada, but it only works with American credit cards. I use it in Canada all the time.
isaacwaller··on Britons: You Have 72 Hours to Stop the Snooper's Charter
After reading your explanation the headline seems a lot better, sorry for my ill informed remarks.
isaacwaller··on Britons: You Have 72 Hours to Stop the Snooper's Charter
What a ridiculous clickbait headline from the EFF. The truth is buried 7 paragraphs down:

The amendments announced on Thursday will be formally included into the bill on Monday, in a committee meeting that was not planned to include a vote. The Lords will then have two more minor opportunities to debate the content of the bill before it is passed onto the elected House of Commons in its entirety for what is expected to be a simple up/down vote. Britain's members of parliament are currently distracted as they prepare for nationwide elections in May, which means it is highly likely that a major anti-terrorism bill like this will collect enough votes to pass.

Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer support emoji on all platforms. Chrome is the only browser not to support emoji.
isaacwaller··on Songza is Joining Google
Please ask them not to shut down the Windows 8 app :(
isaacwaller··on Show HN: Madworld.tv – Vine, Instagram video-based internet TV
I'm using Firefox and it worked for me.
isaacwaller··on TorCoin
What would give "TorCoins" value? It is obvious relays would sell their coins on some altcoin exchange, but who would be purchasing these coins? It seems that the only people purchasing TorCoins would be people looking to donate to Tor relays (this is a totally valid use case, but I was wondering if you have something else in mind.)

Looks really cool by the way.

isaacwaller··on The pre-play vulnerability in Chip and PIN
Google Wallet actually uses the same technology as Chip+PIN, EMV (Visa payWave).
isaacwaller··on Chrome Remote Desktop goes mobile
You might want to try https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.... , the official Microsoft RDP app; works great in my experience
isaacwaller··on Rendering Head in WebGL
I'm having the exact same issue on Firefox / Windows 8.1 on an Intel Iris 5100, so it's probably an issue with Intel drivers.
isaacwaller··on Update on Metro
What is your app?
isaacwaller··on How Google and Microsoft Can Halt a Product

isaacwaller··on Chromecast now open to developers with the Google Cast SDK
You can get one for about $14 CAD extra at Amazon.ca: http://www.amazon.ca/Google-Chromecast-Streaming-Media-Playe...
isaacwaller··on Lenovo to acquire Motorola Mobility
Lenovo is a bit more than 10% indirectly owned by the Chinese government. I don't think they would ever agree to such an acquisition.

isaacwaller··on Santa Maps Dive
Everything works for me except for the map on the ground. IE11
isaacwaller··on Google is building a Chrome app-based development environment
I don't understand Chrome apps. They require installation and only work on Chrome, so they come with none of the benefits of the web. They are slower and uglier than native Windows/Mac/Linux apps. What's the point?
isaacwaller··on Wireless HDMI for Everyone
That chart has a small error, Miracast certainly does support extended desktop - I use it frequently on Windows 8.1.
isaacwaller··on Microsoft to retire Skype Desktop API
Because Microsoft can update the Skype architecture so that it is more centralized like other IM applications. Right now a lot of Skype is peer-to-peer, which is not good on mobile. I, for one, am really looking forwards to this change.
isaacwaller··on Smooth Online Signatures, Open Source
Works really well for me on a Windows tablet.
isaacwaller··on Using Elance Made Me Want to Learn How to Develop iOS Apps Myself
Your custom scrolling breaks touch scrolling on IE11.
isaacwaller··on As MacBook Air ages, Apple rivals show the way to Retina
If you use Windows you can choose from any hardware on the market, including Macs; if you use OS X, you are limited to only Apple-produced machines. Perhaps a reason to make the switch?
isaacwaller··on Mozilla Launches Preview Of Firefox For Windows 8 Tablets
I just tried this on my Surface Pro and although performance is really lacking and pinch to zoom does not work, I am excited about the possibility of using other browsers than IE11. Chrome for Windows 8 has been abandoned since release so I hope Firefox will continue to develop this UI.
isaacwaller··on SMS-hosted Bitcoin Wallet
Coinbase (a YC-backed company) also recently announced SMS support. https://coinbase.com/sms_service
isaacwaller··on 0 to 60 in One Second: Fusing WebGL, CSS 3D and HTML
It doesn't seem to work in IE11.
isaacwaller··on Microsoft needs a new CEO who probably doesn’t exist
Windows Phone 6 sucked. Windows 7 on tablets sucked. In both of these cases, Microsoft was slow to react improving their products.
