itchyjunk··on Studio Ghibli, Bandai Namco, Square Enix Demand OpenAI to Stop Using Their IP
Is it not a copyright infringement if you pain it yourself? Why is that the case? I thought it would be just that studios wouldn't care for the most part. Hasn't Disney gone after this type of personal projects in the past?
itchyjunk··on OpenAI says over a million people talk to ChatGPT about suicide weekly
It seems like people here have already made up their mind about how bad llms are. So just my anecdote here, it helped me out of some really dark places. Talking to humans (non psychologists) had the opposite effect. Between a non professional and an llm, i'd pick llm for myself. Others should definitely seek help.
itchyjunk··on 10M people watched a YouTuber shim a lock; the lock company sued him – bad idea
Shushh, don't tell people about Streisand Effect.
itchyjunk··on SpaceX disables 2,500 Starlink terminals allegedly used by Asian scam centers
Law of the land. Must follow it to operate in that jurisdiction
itchyjunk··on Questions to ask when you think need to finish something
Questions to ask when you think you need to finish something? Sorry for the nitpick, typically my brain completes missing words easily. Must be the lack of coffee here.
itchyjunk··on Albania appoints AI bot as minister to tackle corruption
Yes! you're absolutely right!
itchyjunk··on Homeowners insurance is pricing people out in disaster-prone cities
So, in other words, it's a "really good thing".
itchyjunk··on The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect (1994)
Got recommended this by George Hotz somewhere and I remember enjoying this.
itchyjunk··on Google is using AI to censor independent websites like mine
Noam Shazeer says it at some point in the Dwarkesh Patel podcast.

Edit : Saw multiple people comment by the time I hit sent. Was it also memorable for you guys? I think it was just the way he said it or something.

itchyjunk··on Claude 4 System Card
I have the same experience. I was pretty happy with gemini 2.5 pro and was barely using claude 3.7. Now I am strictly using claude 4 (sonnet mostly). Especially with tasks that require multi tool use, it nicely self corrects which I never noticed in 3.7 when I used it.

But it's different in conversational sense as well. Might be the novelty, but I really enjoy it. I have had 2 instances where it had very different take and kind of stuck with me.

itchyjunk··on ChatGPT Is a Gimmick
This sounds like the "self-assured gotcha" the parent is frowning about.
itchyjunk··on Things that have a bigger impact than coding assistants
Content is left as an exercise to the readers.
itchyjunk··on Jules: An asynchronous coding agent
What about "VC" AI that wants a unicorn? :D
itchyjunk··on In a high-stress work environment, prioritize relationships
Nah, realizing I don't have to constantly be thinking about relationship was what made things a lot less stressful for me. It's still stressful. But at least I get to mind my own business. Not saying everyone is like me. Maybe no one is. But it was better for me to mind my own business and internally say fork you to all the superficial relationships.
itchyjunk··on Intellect-2 Release: The First 32B Model Trained Through Globally Distributed RL
RL is still training. Just like pretraining is still training. SFT is also training. This is how I look at it. Models weights are being updated in all cases.
itchyjunk··on OpenAI reaches agreement to buy Windsurf for $3B
Could you elaborate? Power saw operators replaced traditional carpenter?
itchyjunk··on Alignment is not free: How model upgrades can silence your confidence signals
Could you please elaborate what less or more calibrated means here? Thanks!
itchyjunk··on Expanding on what we missed with sycophancy
For a subset of topics, "AI" is already what I prefer to interact with over humans. At times, it's nicer to start with "AI" and kind of ground my messy thoughts before interacting with people and that works better than directly starting with a person.

I'm also starting to come across people who say "You should ask these types of questions to AI first" answer. But this is no different than people who preached "lmfgt" kind of religiously. Even when I prefer to start with humans, some humans prompt me to start by prompting AI.

itchyjunk··on Apple App Store guidelines remove ban on encouraging external payments in US
Isn't this true with collectable toys? My adult friends sure seem to be addicted to purchasing Pokemon cards. They talk about thousands of dollars spent when I am curious about numbers.
itchyjunk··on Uber raises in-office requirement to 3 days, claws back remote workers
They creep it up. Like frog in boiling water, not much to be done. 1 day a week with 1 optional day for the social butterflies. 2 days mandatory with 1 day optional for social butterflies. 3 days mandatories + some extra mandatory days like all hands and Q-end. Next up is 5 days mandatory with 2 optional days for social butterflies.

Why would Waymo want to maintain a large fleet when they want to focus on the technology? Self driving != self maintaining. Isn't Waymo and Uber partnering? [0]

itchyjunk··on Should We Respect LLMs? A Study on Influence of Prompt Politeness on Performance
Casual twitter response turned into a new article turned into a "X wants Y" is exactly why I stopped trusting most of social media as a source of information.
itchyjunk··on Jagged AGI: o3, Gemini 2.5, and everything after
At this point, you might as well be claiming completions model behaves differently than a fine-tuned model. Which is true but the prompt in API without any systems message seems to also not match your prediction.
itchyjunk··on Jagged AGI: o3, Gemini 2.5, and everything after
Why are you not able to have an earnest conversation with an LLM? What kind of ideas are you not able to bounce of LLMs? These seem to be the type of use cases where LLMs have generally shined for me.
itchyjunk··on DolphinGemma: How Google AI is helping decode dolphin communication
That we know of!
itchyjunk··on MusiCoT, a chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting technique for music generation [pdf]
Hmm, even if the model performed poorly on real world task vs benchmark, it doesn't necessarily imply they train on the benchmarks themselves, right? They did the train, test split properly. Didn't train on the test. But the benchmark itself was bad at representing real world tasks? Is so, seems pretty wild to accuse a company of training on test data.. maybe this is "vibe commenting" and I'm just out of loop.
itchyjunk··on MusiCoT, a chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting technique for music generation [pdf]
It doesn't seem to be the same content being pushed each time. Someone posting their book or the same article once a week vs posting new content each week is not the same to me. To me, it's not obvious that it's against the rule. Especially when the content seems to be engaging enough for it to make to FP.
itchyjunk··on MusiCoT, a chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting technique for music generation [pdf]
You will be able to detect any AI music from human music because of the ability to detect this human element? Or are you saying you'll retroactively hate a song once you figure out it was AI generated?
itchyjunk··on MusiCoT, a chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting technique for music generation [pdf]
People still calligraph even though we have printer. People will actively spend money in a hobby they like. It's totally fair that you personally might not want to do it anymore if AI can, but I think parent was saying other people will continue to do it if they enjoy it. There are tons of people who create copy right free music anyways. Talking about those type of people. :)
