jarnix··on Show HN: Let AI predict how old you are
I uploaded a photo of me when I was 4 years old, and it says that I was 31 years old at the time.
jarnix··on Show HN: Lofi.cafe
I'm not into elevator music but I understand some people might enjoy it. Do you listen to this while working?
jarnix··on Open Source Smartwatch
:) not sure it's up to anybody to do it. To me "nRF51 SWM interface with pogo pins" means absolutely nothing, same for nRF52832 or STLink.
jarnix··on Belarus has shut down the internet amid a controversial election
I think it's going to be the same during the next elections in Russia. It's really sad to see the declaration of the main opponent (Tikhanovskaya) (1)

Protesters are in jail (more than 2000 people), a guy has been killed by a truck, etc.

jarnix··on How Zoom works [slides]
Am I the only one to avoid Zoom for all the strange things reported these past few months ?
jarnix··on Show HN: I made a store to send the "Idea of a Pear" to friends and family
What is the background idea behind this? I'm maybe out of the loop.
jarnix··on To motivate people, talk about the context of the work to be done
This reminds me of the people who are/were working on building weapons, they are/were not aware of the context of their work, for example they were building small pieces of large weapons but not knowing the full plan.
jarnix··on Show HN: ExhibitDay
From Wikipedia :

Regus CEO: Mark Dixon (Jun 1, 2010–) Revenue: 2.535 billion GBP (2018)

jarnix··on Show HN: Sendnoodz.io Spam Your Friends Noodles MMS for an Hour
but... why? :)
jarnix··on Ask HN: How do I earn more as a developer?
Then you can move to Paris to have a better salary but you will also pay more for your life... You could move seriously, there are a lot of companies in Paris that are looking for developers so they will pay more than what you earn now.
jarnix··on Ask HN: How do I earn more as a developer?
If your salary is about 2500 € per month, is it without or with the company taxes ("brut" or "net") ?

If I talk in the companies that I know in France, 2500€/months (with -"brut"- or without company taxes -"net"-) seems low to me. Maybe you can just find another job, the market is really open for developers ;)

jarnix··on Re-affirming Long-Term Support for Java in Amazon Linux
"One Rich American Called Larry Ellison"
jarnix··on Show HN: Open Sukkah – Airbnb for Public Sukkahs
I hope it's not for Russians customers though
jarnix··on Ask HN: Had anyone already had to deal with the GDPR fines / abuse?
Well, in France yes already (and the links are in French, basically the first one is about a basic hack where you could change the id of the user in the URL of the current page to get others users' invoices -no comment-, and the second one because the users could not decide what cookies could be stored on their computers, they did not offer any choice eg through a CMP or something else)

jarnix··on Show HN: Mprove. Your daily productivity progress % in menu bar
24 hours - 8 hours sleep

- 8 hours 9-5 job

- 1 hour for travel

- 2 hours with family

=> so... I do not eat, I do not take a shower (or I can take a shower with my family), in my experience it's more 3 than 5 hours of free time, minus some time to change my state :), it's not like going to sleep mode is like an instant sql update.

jarnix··on Smugmug Acquires Flickr
I didn't even know what Smugmug was before today, it does not happen a lot when a company buys a big player like Flickr!
jarnix··on Hello: A new social network founded by Orkut's creator
Honestly, I don't think I want to join any other free "social network" after what happened and still happens at Facebook. I would be okay to pay for a social network that respect my privacy and that would be limited in features like status, photos and groups.
jarnix··on Show HN: TablePlus – A macOS client for relational databases
They complain about Sequel Pro but TablePlus is limited to Mac :(
jarnix··on Google’s “Yeti” is reportedly a gaming hardware, streaming service beast
This reminds of Shadow (https://shadow.tech/), a service that was launched in France (cocorico) last year and is really excellent. The network induced latency is not an issue. It's a little bit strange when you move your mouse for example but when playing you don't feel the latency.
jarnix··on Google winning 98% ad spots it auctions off, after order to treat others equally
This is a text made for SEO, it's not journalism obviously!
jarnix··on Social media is giving us Trypophobia
"Trypophobia is a proposed phobia (intense, irrational fear, or anxiety) of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps." (wikipedia)
jarnix··on Show HN: Birthhits – Create a Spotify playlist of top songs on your birthday
That was quick ;)

https://twitter.com/rrhoover/status/950734760975872000

@rrhoover Jan 9 "Request for product from @spotify: A playlist of top 40 hits from the day you were born, on your birthday"

jarnix··on Show HN: Triangulart – Isometric graphic editor, like pixel art with triangles
This looks like https://www.marmoset.co/hexels/ (which is awesome)
jarnix··on Show HN: No-swears – remove swear words from JavaScript strings
So if I write BbitchIbitchTbitchCbitchHbitch, it would give me B * I * T * C * H ?
jarnix··on [dead]
Could someone explain what it is?
jarnix··on Generate images and video with Deep Dream
thank you, this should be written somewhere on their website :)
jarnix··on Spam is back
There is also a new form of spam in 2017 (and even before), that's the notifications that we get from apps on our mobile phones. Does every app ask our permission before pushing notifications (for example at night when you try to sleep) ?

And every other website asking to push notifications on the desktop ?

And every Messenger bot ?

jarnix··on Google Has Dropped Google Instant Search
I was intrigued that nobody was talking about the revenue effect of the removal of Instant Search. Obviously they did it because of this.
jarnix··on Facebook in talks with publishers on supporting subscription models
The two options are compatible :)
jarnix··on Show HN: Bing Wallpapers
FYI the site was blocked by my antivirus.

"Fetches and applies the image of the day from Bing as the wallpaper. Works only on Ubuntu."
