jatora··on Three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics
Climate change has many clean solutions lol. Just none that anyone gives a fuck about enacting. We'll deal with it post singularity (if we even care then)
jatora··on Three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics
A whole lotta words just to say you are coping.
jatora··on Three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics
It's more collaboration than what was happening before, if all you care about is the knowledge, not the accolades.
jatora··on Physicists trap a single antimatter particle for a month
It's definitely just jokes due to using the word 'trap'. You might need to get some sleep lol
jatora··on It's still ok to enjoy programming
Honestly pretty weird of you to not vibe code it, if it was recently. I strive to be efficient and effective even in my hobbies. It makes them funner. Hence I don't use a screwdriver where a drill will do. Nor do I hand-sand large flat surfaces when I can use my DeWalt sander. Cry me a river of lament at the art of being bad at your hobbies.
jatora··on US federal budget deficit jumps 12% in one year to nearly $2 Trillion
Isn't it constantly annoying that your take (that I agree with and is obviously correct) will always seem fringe?

You'll be branded as believing in the illuminati and a conspiracy theorist for pointing out the horribly obvious fact that money runs US politics and your vote literally doesn't matter with lobbyists and a revolving door in congress.

Intelligent people think this way. It's quite sad.

jatora··on US federal budget deficit jumps 12% in one year to nearly $2 Trillion
Thanks I agree its very relevant to a lot of things too especially societal/political paradigms that will never end without a gigantic shift that is AI. Glad you can see through the noise and understand that too
jatora··on Claude Opus 5.5
These takes are fully fueled by cope. What is this plateau you are talking about? Any user of agentic coding tools sure isn't experiencing anything close to a plateau.
jatora··on AX – Google’s Open Agentic Orchestrator
Fully agreed. Google just can't stop losing.
jatora··on A warning about 'model welfare'
exactly. such over-reduction is just intellectually dishonest and generally a sign of some coping imo.
jatora··on A warning about 'model welfare'
theories like this seem like grasping at straws to over explain a phenomenon we don't fully understand. it places consciousness on a pedestal. it's religious thinking.
jatora··on The DeepMind Institute
what happens in the end was my entire point, and the refutation of your point. wtf? writing things down is a superior form of information retention and accuracy than verbal recitation and memory, obviously.
jatora··on Astra for Law
Do you really think the law isn't already horribly abused? Democratization of law has been needed for a thousand years.
jatora··on The DeepMind Institute
ever heard of the game "telephone"?
jatora··on The DeepMind Institute
"these are actual research papers."

Not in any sense of that term are these research papers. Not lazy, sure, but a couple conceptual tables does not a research paper make.

jatora··on A warning about 'model welfare'
"I’m broadly skeptical that floating-point operations can be conscious"

Why?

The new era of ads is this comment right here.

shudders

jatora··on Claude is only available to people over 18 years
", but eventually you need to sell things for at least what it costs to make them."

Gmail, and every other free service would like a word. Net tangential profit invalidates your point. They can loss lead LLM's forever if they are getting other economic benefit from the practice

jatora··on GPT-6 built this earth exploration site in 5 prompts
Do you have any basis for this collection of claims? I've never heard of this intentional obfuscation.
jatora··on Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood?
Thankfully due to AI, it is an extremely simple matter to set up your own HN feed and filter it absolutely however you want
jatora··on I resigned from Anthropic today
Imagine being front and center to the development of a major revolutionary tech.. and ur solution to it being too dangerous is to not be involved.. so a. your ability to steer it safely is killed b. the % of people invovled in it that care about its risks is reduced

great. if you're right. you made huamnity's situation much worse.

if you're wrong, then you're an idiot and wrong.

weird. its almost like.... that cannot possibly be the reason they left :)

jatora··on Initial effects of AI technology on employment look positive
Well one way to look at it is:

As a programmer, but working in two non-SWE roles, I have turned job A 70% over to AI, and job B 90%.

Where systems and scaffolds can be put in place to manage various aspects of a job, would this not be considered, partially, an "AI job"?

If you work in government grants and R&D, what if agents can now triage 100-1000x the opportunity count that you could ever handle alone, and you had a pipeline system in place to manage said opportunities and relationships? And then you, as the human, become the mouthpiece and reviewer of hoards of filtered output? Is that Federal Grants & R&D position now not mostly an AI job?

I'd say a large percentage of digital-based jobs can be considered varying percentages of AI jobs.

jatora··on IBM Bob
easy.

"claude, get this c++ program working"

these types of moats are all but obliterated.

jatora··on IBM Bob
When people say they have been in startups for long periods, does this mean they worked at a chain of failed companies?
jatora··on IBM Bob
goal post shift.
jatora··on GPT-6 Astra
More fuel to why the AA index is fairly pointless. Gemini 3.8 flash is 59 and opus 5 is 63? grok 4.6 is 61 too?

And in the past, gemini 3 pro was rated as high as opus 4.5 and the like

Their AA Intelligence Index is just simply not indicative of whatever I care about, that's for sure.

jatora··on Fable 5.1 World Modeling
i know... i suffered through a long load but im not logging in without having even a semblance of clue what the game even is unfortunately
jatora··on Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards
Glad someone caught the reference. Too bad that someone completely whooshed the joke lol. And I don't need my LLM's to master the universe, just to be better than most humans at what I need done. Almost there.
jatora··on Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards
Youre just arguing against your own point now. My analogy is a fine reproduction of the failure of the 'just a token predictor' argument. To predict the next token requires many other interesting things to also be understood and modelled internally. Same for baby production in humans.
jatora··on OpenAI: Migrating to HTTPX2
this made me laugh even though i dont think i even get it. can you explain this please lol
