jaybuff··on Fable 5.1 World Modeling
This isn't what I expected when I heard "world model"!
jaybuff··on Ask HN: Who is using OpenClaw?
I used it very similarly to you, but found it to be about $3.50 per day, or $100 a month. It wasn't worth that.
jaybuff··on YouTube deleted an electronics repair channel [video]
John Gruber and Ben Thompson discussed a comparison of podcast vs. youtube and how podcasting isn't dominated by one company like youtube is for video. This is in the context of Joe Rogan moving to spotify. https://overcast.fm/+B7NB1G3rw/44:01
jaybuff··on Tell HN: Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and now web cams
John Boiles has a proof of concept of the OBS virtual cam. I tried it out and it worked for me, although I had to build it and OBS from source. He has good instructions.

Apple notes (in iOS 9 and El Capitan) is also a secure, encrypted Evernote alternative: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202303
jaybuff··on Volkswagen’s Diesel Fraud Makes Critic of Secret Code a Prophet
"Reflections on Trusting Trust To what extent should one trust a statement that a program is free of Trojan horses? Perhaps it is more important to trust the people who wrote the software. "

jaybuff··on GNU Emacs conversion to Git
Apparently the only feature emacs is missing is spellcheck.
jaybuff··on The Network is Reliable
Sounds like the title of the paper should be "The Network is Unreliable, but it Usually Doesn't Matter."
jaybuff··on Docker containers should not run an SSH server
nsenter might be a short term solution, but IMHO, getting a resolution to this issue https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/issues/1228 so you can just do "docker exec <cid> /bin/bash" is much simpler than the nsenter call he recommends. Plus, he leaves out chroot, so I have a different view of the filesystem than PID 1 inside the container does.
jaybuff··on Git 2.0 is here
verbose?
jaybuff··on Metal as a Service
I had a very similar experience when I tried it a few months before you.
jaybuff··on Your Docker image might be broken without you knowing it
"Note that the shell script must run the daemon without letting it daemonize/fork it. Usually, daemons provide a command line flag or a config file option for that."

fghack is an anti-backgrounding tool. http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/fghack.html

jaybuff··on Why the Heck is Git so Hard?
The best book on git is only 30 pages long. It's called git from the bottom up and it describes the architecture of git, which makes understanding it much simpler than studying command line options.

jaybuff··on Turn It Off: NSA's Achilles' Heel
"The water-cooled supercomputers require 1.7 million gallons of water per day to function."

Anyone have a citation for that? I suspect that water is in circulation. I doubt they send almost two million gallons into the sewage system everyday.

jaybuff··on OSTree – Robust OS upgrades for Linux
Reminds me of http://camlistore.org/
jaybuff··on OS X Isn't for Developers
If there was a package manager for os x that shipped binaries we wouldn't be in this predicament either. brew building from source is just as much to blame as os x not shipping gcc with default install.
