Slite is adding AI to it's workspace tool, but not in the way you'd expect. It's called "Ask" and it allows you to just... ask questions of the content in your team's workspace. Using a LLM + GPT to synthesize an answer and cite the references.

Check out this tweet from the founder of Slite (a Notion competitor focusing on remote teams) for video and examples of how Discussions will work.

"It lets you make key decisions meeting-less, in context of your docs, and it launches in 2 weeks!"

jonmccull··on Vivaldi's latest version disables Google Idle API by default
"Big update alert: Vivaldi says no to Google Idle API, improves Capture, Download Panel, Sync, adds 68 new languages to Translate, and more."
jonmccull··on Double-decker browser tabs can be yours with Vivaldi
Mail, Calendar and RSS are available in the Snapshot version under vivaldi://experiments/

jonmccull··on Vivaldi 2.0 – includes sync, resizable tab tiling, floating web panels and more
Yes, this. The ability to drag and resize them now is just brilliant. I pretty much only use it to view two pages side-by-side, but when you try it with 4 or 5 tabs the resizing is a dream.
jonmccull··on Vivaldi Browser: Chrome engine, no personal data collected
Re: "Why we are doing this", see https://vivaldi.com/company/

From wiki: > "Vivaldi began as a virtual community website that replaced My Opera, which was shut down by Opera Software in March 2014.[15] Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner was angered by this decision because he believed that this community helped make the Opera web browser what it was. Tetzchner then launched the Vivaldi Community—a virtual community focused on providing registered users with a discussion forum, blogging service, and numerous other practical web services—to make up for My Opera's closure. Later, on January 27, 2015, Vivaldi Technologies launched—with the community in mind[16]—the first technical preview of the Vivaldi web browser."

As for income, it's the standard browser model – partnerships with default search engines and bookmarks.

jonmccull··on Vivaldi now includes Qwant, a privacy-focused search engine based in Europe
Just putting this out there but... does any browser pass the fingerprinting test?

Quick look with Firefox, Brave, Safari and all has similar results for me.

here's their privacy policy: https://about.qwant.com/legal/privacy/
jonmccull··on Firefox is back. It's time to give it a try
Sync has been live in the snapshot version for quite some time. it's planned to be released to the stable version in Vivaldi's next major update.
jonmccull··on Firefox is back. It's time to give it a try
i use the snapshot version as my default on mac and it's definitely usable (and then some). you do run into the odd bugginess, but anything major is usually fixed within a few days.
jonmccull··on Vivaldi browser releases Sync in Snapshot build for public testing
This feature has been the reason many users have held out on making the switch to Vivaldi as a daily drive. Will be interesting to see the results of the testing and how quickly the features makes it into a final stable build.
jonmccull··on Vivaldi 1.13 is here :)
Big fan of the Window Panel. I think I'll try disabling the Tab Bar and only uses this to manage my tabs for a bit. :)
jonmccull··on Vivaldi 1.11 – Focus on accessibility
Love the new reader mode options and setting for stopping loading of animated gifs.
jonmccull··on Vivaldi browser v1.10 released, with docked dev tools and new Startpage options
Vivaldi has a setting for limiting the minimum font size under Settings > Webpages > Fonts (screenshot: https://cl.ly/1h2N0Y3a3w0s).

Is that what you mean? You can set the font to max 24pt (on macOS anyway) and images are untouched.

jonmccull··on Vivaldi browser v1.10 released, with docked dev tools and new Startpage options
Love how many fixes and features get squeezed into each Vivaldi release (8 new features and 80+ bug fixes this time!).
jonmccull··on Opera is Reborn
Vivaldi's "Web Panels" are doing this with a lot more flexibility - you can add any site you want as a custom panel in the sidebar and resize the width to adjust the ratio with your main window.

Granted, a lot of people use it for social/messengers, but it's also super useful for resources and tools like Stackoverflow or Google Translate.

jonmccull··on Vivaldi add green search engine Ecosia as default option
Ecosia uses ad revenue to fund tree-planting projects around the world. Is Vivaldi the first browser to include the "green" option as default?
jonmccull··on Vivaldi browser v1.8 released, with calendar-style browsing history
Docked dev tools is in active development at Vivaldi at the moment, so fingers crossed it will be included in an upcoming release. It's easily one of the most requested features we get, understandably, and definitely not being ignored. :)

Looks like the only thing missing is the shortcuts to select URLs to follow on the current page (which is pretty cool, btw).

Otherwise you can do everything Vimium can by customising keyboards shortcuts and using the "Quick Commands" menu (similar function as the menu brought up when typing "O" in Vimium).

Keyboard Shortcuts settings: vivaldi://settings/keyboard/

Quick Commands menu: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/quick-commands-menu/

Do you mean custom URL for Startpage? Setting for that here:

vivaldi://settings/startup/

Or something different, e.g. customising the "Speed Dial" pages further?

jonmccull··on Vivaldi browser v1.8 released, with calendar-style browsing history
Lots of nice touches here to visualise your browsing data in Vivaldi, and adding History as a side panel in the browser.

It's part of the 1.8 release of the browser launched today.
