ketamine··on Online age verification is the hill to die on
An anecdote: I am 40 years old and I have an Onlyfans account. I enjoy some hippie chick that makes pottery and takes pics of herself without clothes on.

I went on vacation to Tennessee and tried to log in and it said I needed to verify with their identity verification provider. Of course I refused.

Now I am home in a different state and still cannot log in. I contacted support and because I was detected in TN once irrespective of my name and address and credit card info in their system they refuse to let me back in.

Support said they canceled my subscriptions for me because you can't even access that part of your account.

It's ridiculous this is where things have landed. And it's not even stopping porn in the slightest it's just making it harder for honest people to pay for what they like. And so the government can track us more easily. Wish I could do something other than vote with my wallet.

ketamine··on Why I code as a CTO
I'm guessing you are ~28, maybe married and no kids.
ketamine··on Altered states of consciousness induced by breathwork accompanied by music
Replied to another person asking a similar question - yes there is a similar experience in the Liminal app.

It gives me some discomfort - almost makes me wonder if it could induce some sort of epileptic episode in me if I tried to push through the discomfort.

But on the whole Liminal is a neat app with other useful experiences.

ketamine··on Altered states of consciousness induced by breathwork accompanied by music
Yes there is something similar in the app Liminal.
ketamine··on Psilocybin decreases depression and anxiety in cancer patients (2016)
Not defending that - some times just knowing you are trying to better yourself helps make things seem better.

How do track errors with the AI? Is it up to me as a user to flag them or do you have a review process or have different models confirm the same outcome?
ketamine··on The good times in tech are over
> Also: is America just vastly more expensive than Europe?

Yes.

In my family I am under employed and my wife is an elementary teacher. Health insurance for us costs $800 every month. A car is required and so is the gas to drive it. We have two 7 year old Toyotas and insurance on them is $100 a month.

It’s a lot more overhead and risk mitigation compared to the better nations like yours that care for their people.

ketamine··on The good times in tech are over
My negative opinion based on experience working with the stereotype that fits your friend is they are only valuable in a massive company. 8/10 phd holders I have worked with couldn’t actually do hands on work. So where do people who just want to think, talk and write about work without being able to actually ship provide value on the order of $250/hr?

More anecdotes from Mr. Lilly https://www.intuition.org/txt/lilly.htm

MISHLOVE: Perhaps this is a necessary part of everybody's journey, is to go through the epitome of terror.

LILLY: Right. For instance, there's an Iranian psychiatrist, an American psychiatrist, that put a hundred patients in a mental hospital in Iran through what they feared most, on Ketamine, and they all left the hospital. Now, I tried the same thing, after I read that. That evening I took 150 milligrams of Ketamine, and suddenly the Earth Coincidence Control Office removed my penis and handed it to me. I screamed in terror. My wife Toni came running in from the bedroom, and she said, "It's still attached." So I shouted at the ceiling, "Who's in charge up there? A bunch of crazy kids?" The answer came back, "Well, you had an unconscious fear, so we put you through it, just the way the Iranian psychiatrist did."

MISHLOVE: In the realm of the mind, the province of the mind, we can face all our fears.

LILLY: Well, you may not be able to live with it, but you should try it.

ketamine··on Ketamine for Depression: How It Works (2024) [video]
I agree with you. I dont enjoy the trip. I appreciate that I have ventured into the substrate of our reality but it is not something I desire to experience often.

Trusting the process was great and worked well after 4 IV treatments. There is absolutely something to the plasticity coming from a treatment and being able to get out of a rut.

ketamine··on The Tsunami of Burnout Few See
Sorry to hear that. I feel tossed aside due to my burnout and depression so I can relate on that front.
ketamine··on The Tsunami of Burnout Few See
Tons of truth here.

And a lot of management bravado is from fear and ignorance of how the work is actually done and their ego gets in the way of curiosity.

So then there is a good chance you are not in favor when promoted in to their circle because they can feel threatened.

What are you doing now? I am considering becoming a machinist.
ketamine··on The Tsunami of Burnout Few See
> Burnout isn't well-studied or understood. It didn't even have a name when I first burned out in the 1980s. It's an amorphous topic because it covers such a wide range of human conditions and experiences.

I think this was labeled with the overused "nervous breakdown" in those times.

Visual exposure to inner mechanics of consciousness is what I experienced on one of my ketamine sessions.

I tell people I went into the substrate of all existence / consciousness.

Thats great. I hope you get the outcome you desire!
ketamine··on Psilocybin microdosers demonstrate improvements in mood and mental health
I am curious if there was something specific about nit being able to code or if you were experiencing issues in general.

My treatments with ketamine were done by an anesthesiologist and I told him I felt like we were playing a bit of "fuck around and find out" with this stuff.

I still want psychedelic therapy with psilocybin in a professional setting so I am interested in more datapoints around negative experiences especially from a peer in the same field.

ketamine··on Psilocybin microdosers demonstrate improvements in mood and mental health
The heavy numbness ends about 10 minutes after the IV ends. I feel drunk and woozy / wobbly for about and hour to hour and a half and then just tired and weak and a little woozy for the next 4-6 hours.
ketamine··on Psilocybin microdosers demonstrate improvements in mood and mental health
Yes, thank you.

I do not like the numbness from the ketamine. I understand psilocybin is going to be a different experience that may not make me feel as out of control.

ketamine··on Psilocybin microdosers demonstrate improvements in mood and mental health
Indeed. The research around glutamate / glutamine pathways seems very sound.

I did IV infusions which is nice because it can be stopped compared to IM injections, nasal spray or lozenges.

Are you willing to share any additional details?
ketamine··on Psilocybin microdosers demonstrate improvements in mood and mental health
Ketamine radically changed my life. I did it with a therapist. It allowed me to be completely objective about myself and my situations.

I am planning to visit oregon in 2023 so I can receive therapy with psilocybin which hopefully has less negative side effects.

Edit: typo

ketamine··on Listening to songs can cause a physiological response known as “frisson”
When I was on one of my ketamine trips I realized music is one of the purest forms of communication as the vibrations reach beyond our physical manifestation.
ketamine··on Happiness and the Art of Being (2012)
I have been continuing my ketamine therapy and the insights revealed align with this writing from what I read in the intro.

> ... the aim of this book is to prompt each one of us to think more deeply about the reality of all that we as a seemingly limited individual consciousness experience and know ...

I find that fitting in some regard given what I experience and how much is going on in our mind all the time.

I am glad this was posted today. Perfect timing. Will be curious to see how it stands as a whole.

ketamine··on Ketamine for the acute treatment of severe suicidal ideation
Yes. Zofran on request.

I was only nauseous for maybe 1 minute but I can see it being terrible for folks with motion sickness.
