kiru_io··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (March 2026)
I am working on https://beta.colorguesser.com/ - a small daily color guessing game.

A few years ago it started as colorguesser.com - which is not much maintained, but since there are many new users enjoying this small game, I decide to invest more time and add more feature.

TrailerSpoiler.com [0]

It annoys me how much a bad trailer can spoil the movie, so I made this platform to rate trailers how "spoily" they are and how good they are. To my surprise, you find some great trailers without many spoilers, but then you will have trailers which are basically a 3-min summary of the movie.

kiru_io··on Learning Languages with the Help of Algorithms
I developed a few utilities to help me track the words and expressions I know in a language (and also see which words in other languages are missing). Tried to port it to an app [0], but it's not perfect yet.

kiru_io··on Tidewave Web: in-browser coding agent for Rails and Phoenix
Why does it forward to https://tidewave.ai/ when I type http://localhost:4000/tidewave ?
kiru_io··on Millau Viaduct
The attention to details, it's probably sorted by their contributions in percentage as well (not sure how to get that for such a project, but nvm).
kiru_io··on The Rise of Ritual Features: Why Platforms Are Adding Daily Puzzle Games
I’ve created a few "daily puzzle" games (e.g., [0] and [1]), and it still surprises me when I meet a random stranger who occasionally plays them. Even now, I can’t quite explain why people keep coming back to the site every day. But maybe for many, it's just a small daily ritual to distract for a few minutes.

kiru_io··on Nothing to watch – Experimental gallery visualizing 50k film posters
Idk why people are always so harsh online. This is clearly stated as "experimental".
kiru_io··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
I am trying to figure out how to do marketing for my journaling app for language learning. Basically, you journal in a foreign language and see grammar and other mistakes directly in the app: https://langdiary.com
kiru_io··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (June 2025)
I managed to ship my journaling app [0] focused on language learners. Basically, you write your journals in a different language and see corrections.

Gonna focus on marketing and improving the app.

kiru_io··on Is being bilingual good for your brain?
Can you give more info on that? the website is not very clear what it is, so basically it's an app to learn languages?
kiru_io··on Build and Host AI-Powered Apps with Claude – No Deployment Needed
This feels like a indirect response to what Andrej Karpathy said in his last presentation, about how it took him barely any time to create the project, but spent a few days to figure out how to deploy the project.
kiru_io··on Mechanical Watch: Exploded View
This is such a cool idea! You could potentially sell this or contact some watchmakers!
kiru_io··on Show HN: A color name API that maps hex to the closest human-readable name
Actually I experienced with different distance metrics and settled for one.
kiru_io··on Show HN: A color name API that maps hex to the closest human-readable name
> I get the same 5 colors every time? That's probably a bug.

> Fun! If I may make one suggestion, could you please show the color I picked next to the real one once it is revealed? The color of the color-name changes to what you picked.

kiru_io··on Show HN: A color name API that maps hex to the closest human-readable name
Wow, pretty cool to see the color-names project here. I made a simple color guessing website a few years ago [0] using your library. I almost forgot it till someone reminds how they enjoyed it ([1]).

kiru_io··on Accumulation of cognitive debt when using an AI assistant for essay writing task
Interesting perspective to see AI as the opposite of accessing connected knowledge (aka Zettelkasten)
kiru_io··on The fastest way to detect a vowel in a string
Can you elaborate or show a better way?
kiru_io··on CVE program faces swift end after DHS fails to renew contract

Nice, was looking for something similar.
kiru_io··on Show HN: Simple Docker Hosting
indeed! The people who complain are not your users, most likely anyway.
kiru_io··on My favourite colour is Chuck Norris red
Color names are a strange thing, it is like given names to numbers. I made a game out of it [0].

kiru_io··on Google stops letting sites like Forbes rule search for "Best CBD Gummies"
Google should vibe out others as well. If I search now "Best CBD Gummies", the first few results are: vice.com independent.co.uk healthline.com observer.com

How is Forbes worse than any of those shallow comparison pages?

kiru_io··on The tragedy of running an old Node project

kiru_io··on Thinking about recipe formats more than anyone should
I was looking into the table format for my app[0], but then the notes at the end made me reconsider: Tabular Recipe Notation Patent Pending (Michael Chu)
