Not even a phone call :(
Again detach yourself and wait for better times.
I was laid off from a very well paying job and to support my family I had to take up a worse paying job with similar problems to the one you described.
Yes. Ive had dark thoughts sometimes. I dont know the answer. It helps to distance oneself and treat the dark thoughts passively, as in if I wasnt in this situation these ideas would not be coming to me, or something like - these are just thoughts and I acknowledge them and let them pass.
Few of my friends did not have good results with medication.
I am also detached from my job, its only purpose is to make enough money to no longer need doing the job. Today I work to live and see tomorrow and the same thing tomorrow again.
I suggest talking to someone elder and with a more positive outlook on life, not from work. Preferably retired.
In summation- You are not your job friend. Not should it give meaning to your life. Live to fight another day. It helps to detach oneself.
I still want a refund. I feel pretty stupid.
I was laid off last year along with many of my colleagues, some time before the layoff the group director had an impromptu meeting and declared we are working for the good of the world and that we should all feel aligned with this message to serve humanity - "Our mission is to empower every person and every individual organisation on the planet to achieve more".
No your mission is to pump the stock and return value to shareholder. My mission is to help you do it and get paid for my time.
And it turns out more often that not, that to serve humanity is a cookbook.

Even when I was at MS I saw a culture of always being in firing and hiring mode. They fired people who were perfectly good at their jobs and hired people who needed to be trained and needed higher salaries.
Sorry Satya. I just can't trust MS with my career anymore and I dissuade more people from going there everyday. ¯\(ツ)/¯
I have about 350k USD and live in New Delhi.
I was laid off last year by one of the big tech companies, and they called me again for a rehire but I just dont trust them anymore even if they pay more. The layoff completely disrupted my life and I developed health issues because of the stress. Not worth the mental hassle.
I have seen a few workplaces which are more deliberate in their hiring and are not on 24x7x365 hire and fire mode unlike many of the big names. I would rather work in such a place rather than have 10 varieties of coffee and condiments in the pantry.
Frankly i'm pissed off.
Sorry for the people who pinned their hopes on cisco and were laid off yesterday. It's not easy.
For everything else I use paid onedrive subscription. The biggest problem is user interface with s3 like storage and predictable pricing because remember you also pay for data retrieval and other storage apis, with dropbox etc you pay a fixed amount. Every year or so I roll over data into the bucket.
But for infrequently accessed data its fine.
I am unsure of the next course of action or if software will survive another 5 years and how my career will look like in the future. Seems like I am engaged in the ice trade and they are about to invent the refrigerator.
My wife is startled sometimes when I react as I do, she doesn’t understand where it comes from. I have forgetfulness and emotional regulation issues. But she is a nice person and helps me out.
I worry about money and the future all the time.
I would like to thank my mom and God for everything, and Jensen Huang. Will delete this later.
Sorry for poor punctuation and english.
I work remotely and all my interaction with coworkers is maybe half an hour everyday where we talk about work and nothing else. If I challenge myself to go to office, I find that its only about 33% occupied.
I have few friends but they don't call me anymore and live far apart. Tried to meet women but it didn't work out.
Btw, youre doing better than most >American households had a median balance of $5,300 and an average balance of $41,600
