leanthonyrn··on Guile Steel: a proposal for a systems Lisp

This is would be a great project to provide a mature Lisp that developers could use to target WebAssembly. Guile Scheme is an amazing Lisp to utilize for this purpose. Here are some other Lisp-to-Wasm type projects from my brief search.
-The Wisp project to compile Lisp-to-Wasm: https://github.com/mbrock/wisp

-Chaitin's Lisp- This is a WebAssembly port of Gregory Chaitin's minimal Lisp interpreter: http://weitz.de/chaitin/

I think this concept would work in the elderly population. Including patients with severe dementia. An interesting way to improve quality of life for this population.

leanthonyrn··on Show HN: A modern BASIC-like teaching and learning programming language

Thank you for your work. When trying to teach my child basic coding concepts along with their math homework, the barrier often is the IDE.

The web-based staring point is incredibly useful. Fire up the web browser and show the math example is excellent. I have started using the web-based Pyret with my 9-year-old. As we do her math, we mirror the math and geometry problems and solve them in the browser environment. The simplicity to code, run, eval is key.

I will give Easylang a try on her next set of problems. Strong Work!

leanthonyrn··on Switching from Common Lisp to Julia (2017)

I was thinking about this the other day. How can I expose my Common Lisp code to Julia.

1. You could take the Clasp path by exposing CL to C++. https://youtu.be/8X69_42Mj-g

This means taking / writing a CL in Julia.

2. Julia has an AST representation written in femtolisp. So it would be in interesting target for CL or some glue middle language like Shen. http://www.shenlanguage.org/ https://youtu.be/lMcRBdSdO_U

Agreed. The Map is a great start. If this content could be exported to another type of game such as Elder Scrolls Morrowind or Thief. Even OSS games like Battle for Wesnoth , 0 A.D., and SuperTuxKart would be interesting.

leanthonyrn··on Ask HN: What do you use Machine Learning for?
I work for a large multi-hospital corporation.

We use machine learning to predict the risk of a patient, after an inpatient admission, being readmitted in 30 days post discharge. If the risk is high, we proactively put process in place to reduce the readmission risk.
leanthonyrn··on Ask HN: What's broken in healthcare and how would you fix it?
I can go to any bank ATM in the U.S. and securely access my funds. The infrastructure in transparent, secure, and seamless. I can go two separate hospitals in different states and the same is not true for my healthcare information. I know efforts are in place to correct this, but if we can send a probe to Pluto, we can put a system in place to share healthcare records.

leanthonyrn··on Apple TV vs. Roku 4 vs. Fire TV vs. Chromecast
Go to bustbuy.com > TV section. Tell me 4K is irrelevant after you view the content of the front page. Yes, minimal content, but youtube has lots of free content. 2016 is less than two months out.
leanthonyrn··on Apple TV vs. Roku 4 vs. Fire TV vs. Chromecast
Great article, but I think it minimizes the 4K video option in both the Fire and the Roku. "The Fire TV now also supports 4K video, if you have a television that can get up to that resolution. So does the Roku 4. The Apple TV and Chromecast don’t support 4K. You can decide how much that matters to you. Offerings of streaming 4K video are pretty limited right now, but are likely to increase dramatically in 2016."
leanthonyrn··on A Look at the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement
Looks like we need to the millennium group: "As the 3rd millennium approached, the Group's internal differences began to manifest into two factions—the "Roosters", who believed in a religiously eschatological view of the end of the world, and the "Owls", who believed the world would end with a secular natural disaster. Attempting to instigate the end of the world artificially, the Rooster faction began to develop a lethal virus; in 1998 they released this virus in the Pacific Northwest, killing upwards of seventy people before the outbreak was contained. A year later, a vastly depleted Millennium Group staged one last attempt to trigger the apocalypse, resurrecting deceased members in order to create the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; when this plot was foiled by the FBI, it was believed to have caused the dissolution of the Group." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium_Group

I always felt that these environments could be ported and utilized for some other type of VR game. A cross between Lost and Westworld. Trapped in a virtual world, your being hunted by some type of rogue AI.... (something like that).
