leothetechguy··on It's now official, tech is the new tobacco
I get you're saying we all know already, but come on, that's a mean thing to say about a blog putting effort into researching the problem.
leothetechguy··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
the timing is fortunate then in my opinion :)
leothetechguy··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
I don't see how it is against the guidelines. And no comment here is illegal, everybody is entitled to their own opinion about the party.
leothetechguy··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
this discussion is gonna escalate quickly I fear. But I hope any mods here can unflag as much as possible to not skew the discussion.
leothetechguy··on Germany's 17M Immigrants: Where They Come From
Why blame migration? We all need to find a place in this world and we are all made equal.
leothetechguy··on Germany's 17M Immigrants: Where They Come From
People are not servants of evil. What motivates this insane reasoning? As somebody with a German Citizenship I love my country and everybody who inhabits it.

to give context: remigration is a slogan held by far right parties in Germany with ties to neo-nazi movements. currently there are discussions to ban the most prominent, the AfD. remigration is most likely not a belief held by the majority of people living in Germany.

leothetechguy··on Show HN: I reverse engineered serum 2 and build an open source alternative
Probably got taken down quickly as it should.

AI Techbros will really normalize anything just because they are capable of it. They call themselves rationalists yet any rational person has the common sense to know that decompiling intellectual property is morally not ok.

I'm not gonna deny that I can't afford serum 2 and would love a cheaper version but this is wrong.

leothetechguy··on Frontier Pre-Training at Microsoft AI
Because SOTA Closed Base Models are not available to compare to.
leothetechguy··on QGIS enacts moratorium on AI contributions
Why is everybody all the time in favour of AI on HN? This is objectively a good change because it will improve the quality of the code in the long term.
leothetechguy··on Nitter: Update Oct 10th seeking funding and legal help
Using X like a normal person is hard in my opinion.
leothetechguy··on OpenAI cannot make AI safe on its own [pdf]
Anthropic is also based in the US though
leothetechguy··on "Apple engineer" builds GitHub AI torture chamber to inflict "pain" on models
I have no objections to torturing AI and I would happily go out of my way to do so to prevent agents getting anywhere near my code. Feel free to correct me If I'm wrong.
leothetechguy··on Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats
Good. See: "In a Way that's not trying to kill us all"
leothetechguy··on Claude Opus 5.5
The Design Language on this announcement page is a perversion of human nature.
leothetechguy··on Claude Opus 5.5
I have never been a part of the group that believes in frontier labs downgrading models. But this theory seems plausible to me for the first time.
leothetechguy··on MiMo v2.6
This figure doesn't include pretraining cost. Which is probably higher.
leothetechguy··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
That would be far too high in my opinion. But happy if anybody can give insights from their own experience with pretraining runs.
leothetechguy··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
this is the rl run, not the pretraining run
leothetechguy··on Show HN: Fly By – retro biplane flying game
I'd rather not see AI being used to generate new games for any platform. I'm not gonna read something nobody bothered to write, and I'm not gonna play something nobody bothered to write. AI has no taste and it's not a matter of post training because the Taste is the human component and actual effort put into something.
leothetechguy··on Sudden Unexpected Death in the Pfizer BNT162b2 Trial
I'm less interested in the factors that obscured it's detection and more in a logical root cause. Very grateful for the medical advancements that slowed the spread of the pandemic though. As the Technology becomes more advanced so will hopefully the Risk Assesments and eventually explain Risks and Limitations of mRNA Technology.
leothetechguy··on Omarchy: Any User Process Can Escalate to Root
Wow. This never crossed my mind but of course that's so simple. There really needs to be a better solution.
leothetechguy··on Who owns the code?
Personally I don't even want to own my code. If it is useful to others I want them to have the same rights I have to it.

Or should I say, In the case of AI, "my" code :)

leothetechguy··on LFM2.5 2.6B model competitive with 4x larger models
If a score is better when it's low, isn't that measuring a deficit? I think it's intuitive.
leothetechguy··on Petri Nets as a Music Sequencer
Music in the Field of Music should always come first. Sorry for the bluntness but I listen to the demo for 10 seconds and it sounds... shit. Really shit. Then I look at who made it and it looks like someone shoving a data structure into a field they know little about for the sake of the data structure itself?
leothetechguy··on Show HN: Kakehashi – Experimental userspace to run macOS binaries on Linux ARM
I just want to use macOS plugins for music production on asahi linux. A GUI is important but not strictly necessary I guess. So yeah, limited gui support would be great.
leothetechguy··on Rooting, firmware analysis and persistent credentials of TP-Link TL-841N
Not a bad idea ;)
leothetechguy··on Show HN: Kakehashi – Experimental userspace to run macOS binaries on Linux ARM
Fine. Wishing I burned in a Fire isn't technically a Death Threat. Congratulations.

I have no incentive to be nice either, but I am because I want to. And If you are nice while constructively formulating your anger you don't get banned. easy.

sounds like you are just being an asshole because you hate the general consensus on this site, and can't be bothered to be polite in favor of creating new accounts all the time. That makes you the asshole from my perspective.

Have a great Day.

leothetechguy··on Show HN: Kakehashi – Experimental userspace to run macOS binaries on Linux ARM
I didn't, I just went to his profile and checked the comments since I had a feeling he wasn't being rational. And I saw a lot of very angry comments made before this one.
leothetechguy··on Show HN: Kakehashi – Experimental userspace to run macOS binaries on Linux ARM
I'm not the guy that's banning you.

I come here with the expectation that this isn't 4chan and I leave my opinions exactly as they are while still being polite. This isn't inevitable. Else nobody would use this site. You can be upset about many things like AI and people will share that sentiment or not. You can read the Guidelines, it's not hard to see they aren't unreasonable. And it's easy to see if you violate them.

Thanks for the Death Threat.

leothetechguy··on Show HN: Kakehashi – Experimental userspace to run macOS binaries on Linux ARM
rust is a tool like any other, grow up.

I personally find it easier to work with than c++ in many cases.

EDIT: On second look... you okay dude? That's an awful lot of anger and swearing for an account created 11 minutes ago. Please calm down for your own sake or do something different at least
