lozzo··on Claude Opus 5
Same feeling entirely.
lozzo··on Microgpt explained interactively
This was a beautiful article to stumble upon.

I had seen Karpathy 's work - https://karpathy.github.io/2026/02/12/microgpt/ - but found it still too demanding to get it

This was the next simplification I just needed

lozzo··on Plain Vanilla Web
I am so very pleased to see a site called "plain vanilla web dot com" being almost at the top of hackernews in 2025.
lozzo··on Show HN: Free, in-browser PDF editor
Nice one. Since it's a Free in browser pdf editor, Why is it not on GitHub ?
lozzo··on Show HN: A difficult game to test your logic
I am so pleased I stumbled on this little game by chance. Really lovely. Well done. Keep it up
lozzo··on Leaving and Waving
That website really talks to me. Some people might click and click away. Others, like me, will feel like being in your shoes. Because they are. Every 3/4 months I go and say hello to my mother and i see how she changes with age. No photos, but the same sense of ineluctability
lozzo··on Meta Movie Gen
When I was little I used to think it was a shame that I could not show my dreams. I could tell my parents what I dreamt but not show them what I saw (or thought I saw while dreaming). Getting closer
lozzo··on The best $4 ever spent
I have similar memories. And I remember drawing similar conclusions. When children are little a little walk with Daddy was great. We used to walk about a whole mile for me to get a coffee and for her to get a fruit juice... and guess what ? on the way back it was bus time.
lozzo··on I Am Tired of AI
thumbs up for this comment. As for me, I am tired of people talking about AI starting their argument with incorrect information
lozzo··on Gitlab to lay off 7% of staff
looks like layoffs are going to continue for a while amongst tech companies. I think it's more significant the 20% cut in yahoo https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-64596061
lozzo··on Scalability is overrated
Yours is an incredibly good comment. The comparison software/architecture is something that I have encountered here and there over the years, but you brought it to a new level. "don't add a second bathroom until you ve got customers complaing about deadlocks on the first". Beautiful. Thanks
lozzo··on Elon Musk tells Twitter staff to work long hours or leave
i have not read the article just the title... otherwise I would not have enough time to work the long hours I am expected to.
lozzo··on Sound
Interesting. Just earlier I went to Bartosz website to see if there was anything and there was not... and then he publishes sound and I see it here on hackernews. I am going to enjoy this. thanks
lozzo··on Rulex – A new, portable, regular expression language
This project looks great. Occasionally I need to write a reg expr (JS developer) and I am not that good at it and I always end up googling around. I am thinking it would be much nicer if I could use rulex to generate my reg expr. But is that what it is supposed to be for ? cheers
lozzo··on Sunsetting Atom
Just now I was checking the trending repos in github.com (JavaScript/Today) and I got atom on no.5 and more than 50K stars
lozzo··on Show HN: Be notified on new open source releases
please correct this typo: "Releasly is a tool for open source lovers like our-self."

... like ourselves.

Good luck, but (in my opinion) even the most dynamic open sources don't change rapidly enough to justify your tool.

lozzo··on Habits of Expert Software Designers
I opened the link and I searched for the word "Simplicity" Found 0 of 0. I decided not to read it in order not to hurt my ego. I might not be an expert software designer as my number one item would have been "seek simplicity"
lozzo··on English has been my pain for 15 years (2013)
Well said. I am not english but I get by but I struggled when recently used the word "chasm". I pronounced the 'cha' as in chat. Oh boy, was I wrong. So eventually, after spelling it out my listener got me. She is my wife and she smiled. She knew I had learnt it through reading.
lozzo··on Do you have a problem? Write a compiler
Excellent. Your solution is a common pattern after all. It's creating a DSL domain specific language and then obviously you need to write some kind of interpreter for it.

For all it matters, I found myself in similar situations but what I decided to do is to use an existing language (in my case it was JavaScript but nothing to do with the Javascript you run on node or on the web)

lozzo··on Show HN: A Turing Machine Editor/Simulator
Very nice. I am surprised you did not get more traction and github stars. Good luck
lozzo··on Google PDF Search: “not for public release”
funny. I think I would even spice up the search with "site:example.com"
lozzo··on Show HN: Super Fast YouTube to MP3/MP4 Converter API
whether this is a good or a bad converter API for youtube I think this is an unfair usage of github. I was interested in seeing the source code for such a product (github is a development platform). Instead your github project is just a page to describe a product hosted somewhere else. Not good.
lozzo··on Why there’s so little left of the early internet
this is interesting because I know many companies would not allow you to do that. Your work belongs to them
lozzo··on Why I turned down my Y Combinator interview
It's hard to fully appreciate this story without you naming names. Any reason why not to ?
lozzo··on Show HN: Pushdata.io – Ultra simple time series data storage
my feedback. Excellent work.

I hope you make sure that you get high in google ranking. A while back (about a year ago) I had the need for something like this and kept searching on google for such a service.

Surely somebody must have written it, I thought.

Well, I ended up accepting that either it did not exist or if it existed it was impossible to find (which is the same thing from my angle).

So again hope people find you once the hackernews show traffic fades away...

cheers

lozzo··on Sales mistakes that software engineers make
Very lucid comment. I would just object to your harsh "it's irrational and probably stupid..." final remark. It's not irrational and stupid. Building something allows you to sharpen your skills, validate your abilities, engage you to the problem you want to solve for real. cheers
lozzo··on CSV 1.1 – CSV Evolved (for Humans)
Good effort. And I like the minimal documentation. However, and I would love to be proved wrong, I think you are about 20 years late for this project to get any interest aside from some effimerous moments in hackernews...
lozzo··on British Airways: Suspect code that hacked fliers ‘found’
If I had had the developer console open in chrome while going through the booking, would I have seen in the network tab the posting to baways.com...

I think the answer is yes.

So I wonder why this issue was not reported earlier by some techie guy who's just booked a flight

lozzo··on Show HN: Interactive web pages with only HTML and CSS – sudoku and more
not that useful, yet quite impressive. well done.
lozzo··on Show HN: Select Star SQL, an interactive SQL book
I concur. I always start with select * from table because I cannot possibly remember all the right column names
