madeofpalk··on Safari introduces Adaptive Dark Mode in 27.3

   filter: invert() hue-rotate(180deg)
For images. Works better for illustrations to get the vibe of the original colours than actual photographs.
madeofpalk··on Safari introduces Adaptive Dark Mode in 27.3
No.
madeofpalk··on Mac at any scale
“icloud” is not one single piece of infrastructure that runs in one place.
madeofpalk··on Anthropic's internal AI use, at retail prices, now exceeds its employee pay
> Only a company like Anthropic

No. I worked at an airline where the company typically charged itself higher than retail for tickets. At least, it was the highest fare type.

I worked at a media company - we had to pay top rates in order to buy our own ads for cross selling products.

Finally, I work at a SaaS company who heavily uses our own product. While we don't pay for it - just our cloud hosting bill - it's definitely a discussion point about how we should be a bit more mindful about usage.

madeofpalk··on Anthropic takes steps to block Claude from reverse-engineering video games
Ultimately, the person offering the service gets to decide what the service is.

If I want to make a knitting forum, im not going to feel bad about deleting posts about reverse engineering video games.

madeofpalk··on Herdr has released native app
T3 Code, Paseo, Conductor, Orca, Jetbrains Air, Jetbrains Thinkrail, etc.

There's 30 million of these and they all look basically identical.

madeofpalk··on We're releasing the weights of Mistral Large 4
Well, to be fair, Mistral never say its open source. They call it just open weight.
madeofpalk··on Formlabs Studio 1 $699 Resin Printer
That's quite a loaded other hand.
madeofpalk··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
typescript is two things: a language, and a type system.

that same type system exists in the javascript language (jsdoc). doing those type checks is the 'slow' part that makes go / rust appealing. not just stripping types to emit js.

madeofpalk··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
If an AI agent could vibe-optimise tsgo, why port it all again over to rust?
madeofpalk··on The Elizabeth Holmes documentary “You Can See Everything” is deceiving
? That’s the point of film - to compel a perspective.
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are not a trap
Yes you can. You can export your passkeys and then import them into whatever android password manager, or 1Password.
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are not a trap
I use 1Password to sync all my passkeys between iPhone, Mac, and Windows. It works exceptionally well!
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are a trap
No browser or consumer password manager implements attestation. There's no need for users to know something that's simply not relevant for them.
madeofpalk··on Zod 4.6.6 compromised by malware?
Every node package manager disables preinstall scripts by default now!
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are a trap
And then undermine that effort by then sending you an official survey or marketing link to secure.bigbank.my.app
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are a trap
Could.
madeofpalk··on Passkeys are a trap
But it’s technically possible.

Passkeys are unphishable. It’s technically impossible for someone else to capture your passkey and use it themselves. It’s technically impossible for your passkey to be leaked from a website.

This is what makes Passkeys the superior solution - they bake the security into itself rather than throwing up its hands and hoping all the other weakest links do the right thing consistently.

madeofpalk··on Apple/macOS removed from official Unix registry
Yeah, I remember this happening before. Quick search turned up this from two years ago for Sequoia https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/1fl035s/macos_sequoi...
madeofpalk··on Anthropic discloses 2 months old fake tip to police among new rogue AI incidents
I presume Anthropic didn’t have any privileged access to any of these websites and services. What differentiates them from any other spam bots or people out there submitting junk to random POST endpoints?

Don’t get me wrong - think Anthropic is acting with not enough scrutiny or punishment here, but the world is already extremely lenient towards this behaviour. Why hold them to a higher standard?

madeofpalk··on GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone
Why are you surprised that a company doesn’t want to make the robot that tells people to kill itself, or drink bleach?
madeofpalk··on GitHub Incident with Git Operations, Pull Requests and Actions
At this point, a mistake like this is indistinguishable from malice.
madeofpalk··on PS5 Jailbreaks Are Escalating at an Unprecedented Pace
Are they? This term jailbreak originated from people getting more access to iOS devices.
madeofpalk··on Show HN: Jotbus – a shared encrypted scratchpad for coding agents
Oh neat - I’ve been looking for a provider-agnostic version of Claude Artifacts for a while. This might do the trick!
madeofpalk··on Example.com just launched the biggest redesign in decades
Our saas had an internal-use, undocumented, publicly accessibly but not publicly used (by us) health endpoint that included an internal version number.

We removed the version and a few customers complained we broke their stuff.

madeofpalk··on Anthropic reported diary entry to police, woman faces felony charge
Personally, I’ve never seen anyone claim this. At least anyone who one would think is informed on these matters.
madeofpalk··on Pixel 11 doesn't yet meet the GrapheneOS security standards and may be skipped
Because Google will cut you off from access to the privileged Android access to Play Store, Services and everything else. So it’s basically all or nothing.
madeofpalk··on Pixel 11 doesn't yet meet the GrapheneOS security standards and may be skipped
> I'm surprised that (particularly non-US) regulators are not investigating them yet.

This is basically the reason Google lost their Play Store anti-trust lawsuit when Apple won theirs. Google did all these incriminating, behind closed doors deals to lock out competition from their “open ecosystem”, where Apple never pretended to be open to behind with.

madeofpalk··on Why don't more developers “use the platform”?
As a web developer in 2014 when I first heard about react, I had never heard about WM_PAINT as I was not a Win32 developer.
madeofpalk··on GitHub's new dashboard experience now the default
The new issues and PR search, and new listings UI is great improvement. More functionality and more dense UI showing more things.

Improvements to Projects have been really good. Personally, I find no need for external project management tools anymore.

The issues and projects team(s?) have been cooking.
