may4m··on Caramel: An OCaml for the Erlang VM
I was looking at elixir and F# for my next project. I liked F# for the type system and elixir for OTP/Beam. This looks like something I wanted
may4m··on Apple’s tech interview scope for junior position
Is their success rate zero? I don't think so. People want to work at FAANG so much they can afford to raise the hiring bar to hire someone with intermediate/senior knowledge on junior level.

may4m··on Signal is having technical difficulties
I use huawei p20 lite 2019 and the signal app is not as smooth and fluid as whatsapp. The animations frames are noticeable. I really want to love the app. I hope they improve the android experience for lower end smart phones
may4m··on Workaholism leads to health problems, work addiction risk depends on occupation
I classify workaholics into three categories, first is too much pride, second is "my colleagues are my friends" and there isn't much to do at home anyways, third is someone really needs the job and money
may4m··on Being bilingual makes swearing easier
This is absolutely true. When i translate english insults to my native language(zulu) they sound so heavy and so evil.
may4m··on Amazon Managed Service for Grafana
so amazon is waiting for open source projects to mature and large have adoption so they can easily sell them to their existing enterprise customers. A lot of open source projects like tensorflow, kubernetes (which amazon is making millions from) where contribution from google's years development and RD. I know amazon keeps saying they're contributing to open source but it's easier to contribute when you're already getting revenue from that product
may4m··on ØMQ – The Guide (2011)
nice, we're also using it for rpc calls using protobuffs.
may4m··on Emerging Architectures for Modern Data Infrastructure
I interesting worked on a project as a data scientist with a client who worked in high precision manufacturing. Their signals (sensors) and actuators were stored in a historian which couldn't handle data 100ms samples even though the data was collected at a 10ms rate. One of the problems required us to look at the process that took just 85ms. The problem was the historian was showing signals up to 20ms it took a while to realise that it was extrapolating when you tried getting finer resolution. The company was using this historian for more than 20 years they had to commission another project to change the historian. So you're right, you don't know what you need until you need it.
