mlcrypto··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
Anthropic isnt getting enough scrutiny for their unprofessionalism:

1. Anthropic employee working on monumental problem but didnt receive/ask for the full backing of the company's resources

2. May or may not be mixing unreleased Claude output with Codex without zero data retention agreement

3. Victory lap on Twitter and giggling around the city before they finished the job, sparking rumors for competitors

mlcrypto··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
They should have used a zero data retention agreement, user error
mlcrypto··on The turbulent AI era is here
I can ship a new feature almost every day on the $20 Codex plan. The limiting factor has always been the drive to build something. General Artificial Intelligence is here and most will continue going about their normal routine
mlcrypto··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
In some circles any AI usage puts you in the same bucket as the worst of the worst
mlcrypto··on When random.bytes() runs but doesn't work
The article clearly indicates the size of the changes: "The commit message is 5 characters and is simply the word “runs.” The commit changes 1534 lines of code making the ratio 5/1534 = ~0.003"
mlcrypto··on Our position on open-weights models
That just shows how wrong he's been because there was nothing unsafe about AI in 2016. And the people theorizing about this stuff in the 20th century? I want to see what crazy code they were writing
mlcrypto··on Claude Opus 5
Yeah when someone asks "how was your day?" I say "good" because thats the next token in the sequence

How we interact with society is based on our "training"

mlcrypto··on Claude Opus 5
"I genuinely don't understand why people who have to work for their living are amazed at this." Also said after seeing the printing press, automobile, calculator, etc for the first time
mlcrypto··on IP Crawl: Living atlas of open webcams discovered on the public internet
I thought it was common knowledge you should physically cover any camera even if you believe they are secure
mlcrypto··on An OpenAI model has disproved a central conjecture in discrete geometry
The so called "progressives" prove that they were the same ones crying after the printing press, automobile, calculator, washing machine, etc
mlcrypto··on U.S. jobs disappear at fastest January pace since great recession
9/11, 2008, and now AI job displacement is also bad luck
mlcrypto··on Engineers who dismiss AI
Maybe I've always been a terrible engineer but I'm humble enough to admit the way I code has always been exactly like the LLM. If it's something brand new I'm googling it and pattern matching how to write it. If it's based on existing functionality I'm doing ctrl + f and pattern matching based on that and how to insert the minimal code changes to accomplish the task
mlcrypto··on El Salvador abandons Bitcoin as legal tender
Massive success actually for anyone holding. Did you forget the price is $100k?
mlcrypto··on Trump wins presidency for second time
Under the Biden/Harris administration even software engineers were hurting and couldn't find work. Unprecedented
mlcrypto··on Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-8 Max Experienced Dutch Roll
Infinite loss multiplied by small chance is still infinite risk
mlcrypto··on Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-8 Max Experienced Dutch Roll
This is an aircraft worth taking great lengths to avoid. Cancelling important trips, meetings, etc.
mlcrypto··on AI Will Increase the Quantity–and Quality–of Phishing Scams
To avoid getting scammed never answer any call or engage with any email you don't expect. As a bonus, ignore anyone at your front door you did not invite
mlcrypto··on Princeton group open sources "SWE-agent", with 12% fix rate for GitHub issues
Yep. After xz we don't need a bot mindlessly fixing all suggestions from malicious actors
mlcrypto··on Sam Bankman-Fried sentenced to 25 years in prison
Very lenient and it doesn't set a deterrent at all for people like SBF. Basically you can go off the charts on the sentencing guidelines and commit 3 counts of perjury in court and still have the same Expected Value as if you stopped the crime at a smaller scale
mlcrypto··on Claude 3 beats GPT-4 on Aider's code editing benchmark
Anyone else think of themselves as a GPT? When I write my brain just predicts good words that come next based on my experiences. No doubt in my mind AGI is coming.
mlcrypto··on Japan's Nikkei surpasses 1989 all-time high
Hmm maybe the bull market is just beginning around the world
mlcrypto··on Google slips as OpenAI said to be working on search product: report
Makes sense why we are seeing mass layoffs. It feels like the end of a tech era and companies must rapidly shift priorities
mlcrypto··on Write code for the web
Apple and their fans always represented peak arrogance to me. Idiots who would spend $1000 on a phone and $3000 on a laptop that had more bugs and compatibility issues with hardware and gaming than Windows. Only decent product they made was the iPod
mlcrypto··on Elevator Expert on How to Move 10k People Up a 118-Floor Skyscraper [video]
I've seen elevators exhibit queue starvation behaviors when everybody in the hotel is trying to leave for the same event on time
mlcrypto··on How the placenta evolved from an ancient virus (2020)
Kinda morbid thinking about all the failed mutations as laying eggs evolved into the placenta
mlcrypto··on FAQ on Leaving Google
Ever heard of James Damore?
mlcrypto··on Spot Bitcoin ETF receives official approval from the SEC
For every boomer retiree there's a young person pumping new money into the S&P and social security
mlcrypto··on Spot Bitcoin ETF receives official approval from the SEC
Since gold reached 10 trillion market cap I am very confident BTC will too. Mainly due to the inflation hedge trade
mlcrypto··on Spot Bitcoin ETF receives official approval from the SEC
Luckily Bitcoin can be sold on a Sunday afternoon at market price with plenty of liquidity in seconds. Good luck lining up a deal like that with the items you listed.
mlcrypto··on Spot Bitcoin ETF receives official approval from the SEC
It's hard for humans to put ego aside and admit they were wrong. Also hard to put emotion aside and forget the pain of missing out from $100 to $45k.

I think there's still an easy 10X to match Gold and 100X is possible if it becomes the world's preferred reserve asset
