nharada··on Nine Killed After a Learjet Crashes in Palm Beach County, Florida
I wish I hadn't listened to that ATC recording. Read the transcript instead, trust me on this one.
nharada··on Frontier Airlines Likely Breached
I've never met human employees with less latitude to actually help me

"oh yeah that's wrong, sorry it looks like our website is broken but there's nothing I can do"

nharada··on Gemini 4 Carbon
I think it's because the model's not ready but earnings was today...
nharada··on GPT-6.1 Terra
What would you want to see instead? Not sure about you but my needs are specific enough that I don't think OAI has evals for them, and I wouldn't want to give them that data even if they wanted to run it for me.
nharada··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories

iunno about that boss...

nharada··on AI is mass decompiling games. That's both awesome and scary
I don't see a distribution channel for this outside of torrents or sketchy download websites. The assets and IP are still copyrighted even if you decompiled the code. Surely Valve would just not allow these copies/clones? That GTA 5 browser thing was gone in like 2 hours.
nharada··on AI is mass decompiling games. That's both awesome and scary
People have always been able to steal PC games. There's an entire genre (keygen chiptunes) of music that came from it. I guess this will make it easier to do so, but why do we think suddenly nobody will buy games anymore? I can buy that this might hurt the industry but "the end of AAA gaming" seems extreme?
nharada··on Gemini 4 Argon
Mine does exactly this and I pay for Pro too
nharada··on Claude Haiku 5.5
Isn't the point of this release that it's comparable?

AAI Index // Input // Output

Haiku 5.5: 43 // $0.10 // $0.50

Mimo 2.6 Pro: 46 // $0.43 // $0.87

Mimo 2.6 Flash: 38 // $0.10 // $0.28

Seems competitive to me? Plus then I don't have to manage multiple providers

nharada··on Gemini app limiting what models free and AI Plus users can access
I pay for Pro and the newest model I have access for is still 3.6 Flash, which was released in July. I never got access to 3.7 and still don't have 3.8. Clearly this product is an afterthought, since I've heard many people have the same models available. Can you imagine if a bunch of the people who paid for ChatGPT still only had access to 5.5, with no communications from OpenAI about it?
nharada··on Sites in ChatGPT
The "intelligence API" layer seems like a pretty rough business to be in. The smarter the models the more they're commodities (since they can use any harness or scaffolding) resulting in a race to the bottom on pricing. And then each new better model requires double the cost of the previous one.

I'm surprised there's not a bigger push into better and useful memory, since that would result in actual lock-in.

nharada··on Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking
Yeah still on 3.6 here too, this is like the 4th or 5th model Google has announced since they last gave me access to the latest. And I pay for pro too!
nharada··on iPhone Duo
you can connect those things though right? or you want a mouse and keyboard attached by default like a tiny laptop?
nharada··on iPhone Duo
do you not consider your phone a "useful computer"?
nharada··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
Meanwhile I pay for Pro and still don't have access to 3.7?
nharada··on Dyson CameraJet electric toothbrush
my dentist wants me coming quarterly
nharada··on Turbovec – Google's TurboQuant for vector search in Rust
It would be nice to have the README be a little more human written for a project where you actually want people to adopt it
nharada··on Gemini 3.7 Flash
I assume so when they release Flash 3.8 or 4.0 or whatever they can claim it's not a price increase?
nharada··on Prevent cognitive debt by manually retyping LLM-generated code
Agreed I want an IDE but only architecture. I suspect it’ll get superseded though eventually too.
nharada··on Oil companies report sky-high profits thanks to wartime crude prices
Is your point that such historical prices only occur when the shit is hitting the fan? Because the first time oil ever went above $100 was at the start of the 2008 financial crisis...

nharada··on Run Kimi K3 using 29 GB of RAM at 0.50 tok/s
It's too bad Optane PMem is dead
nharada··on Half-Life 2 running natively on HaikuOS
I love it, this is OG hacker news
nharada··on Kimi K3 Is Competitive with Fable; Kimi K3 and Fable Is SoTA
Is there something specifically with Kimi that's better here? As far as I know Kimi pricing is about the same as Sonnet 5 -- what happens if you use that model and Fable instead? Or Grok 4.5 which is even cheaper?
nharada··on Australian energy retailers must offer three hours of free daytime electricity
A 24 kWh cap per day seems very reasonable. Drawing 8 kW is quite a lot.
nharada··on Nintendo has raised its employees base salary by 10%
why?
nharada··on Previewing GPT‑5.6 Sol: a next-generation model
Is that the correct comparison? Fable is twice the price
nharada··on GTA 6 will cost $80
Yeah if it has the amount of content people are expecting I'd say it'll be well worth 80 bucks
nharada··on If Claude Fable stops helping you, you'll never know
Imagine if Github said "if we detect you're building a competitor to Github, we will silently degrade the results of your CI actions so that tests sometimes randomly fail"

nharada··on Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2026 Results
I've been wondering when we'll see it unambiguously showing up in there. I suspect this time next year it'll be visible for sure, maybe Q4 of this year?
