nilamo··on Kalshi and its co-founders face felony charges for violating Utah gambling laws
Creating a company with the intent to circumvent the law is definitely something that should be punishable with stricter measures than simply breaking the law directly.

What in the revisionist history? Polymarket has been getting shit on here since it debuted.
nilamo··on Schools that block Google’s A.I. will lose student access to its search engine
This is great! Google search has been declining in usefulness so much, that it shouldn't be used by students anyway. And then there's the shitty ai summaries, which students definitely shouldn't have to worry about whether or not it's accurate.
nilamo··on October Binance Security Incident: Initial Findings and Response Update
Absolutely stunning that a private company has the free cash to repay and absorb a loss of $6.3 billion. I'm clearly in the wrong business.
nilamo··on Just a little AI resistance, as a treat
It is the top tech issue currently, and perhaps of most of our lives. We're in the first stages of a new industrial revolution, talking about it while it happens is par for the course.

The Sopranos had a main cast Junior, who was also the oldest of the team. Just for some anecdata

Yes it's much more important to look at real figures making impact today. Such as... um... wait a second, I'm sure there has to be a few...
nilamo··on The Ocean 'Was the Color of Chocolate.' Mexico Declares War on Seaweed.
The US wouldn't take action against the seaweed, unless it was in a fishing boat. Then it'd be ruthlessly assaulted with all seaweed and fishermen slaughtered, while claiming the seaweed was actually drugs.
nilamo··on Leak Exposes 41,000 Homeland Security Workers–Including Undercover ICE Agents
Luckily we haven't been in war for decades.
nilamo··on Leak Exposes 41,000 Homeland Security Workers–Including Undercover ICE Agents
Good! Both sides should be prosecuting each other over violating the constitution.
nilamo··on US President says he will ban the term 'artificial intelligence'
Trump sounds the same today as he did 10 years ago, delusions can see past obvious warts.
nilamo··on US President says he will ban the term 'artificial intelligence'
We here in North Devosica, formerly Michigan, fully support Trumpsday and the month of America (formerly July).
nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
> I will save this thread as a PDF and put the PDF's sha512 hash on the Satoshi Blockchain so that everyone for all eternity can know at around this time you posted dumb things in an arrogant manner on this thread.

Well hang on now, because it sounds like you don't know what a one-way hash is. If you put the hash on the blockchain, no one except you will be able to read the pdf. Because the hash isn't anything except a hash, and cannot be unwound to create the pdf. So nothing would be recorded for all time, except a random string that means something to you, and only to you.

nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
Yes I was absolutely thinking of hearsay, thank you.
nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
> It's called a SHA512 hash or a SHA256 hash. You're posting on a site called "Hacker News", if you aren't already familiar with SHA512 and or at least SHA256 you should probably be just a little bit embarrassed.

lmao the absolute nerve of saying I should be embarrassed for not already knowing about some weird side purpose you're using a blockchain for.

Has this ever actually been used for anything legal? This feels like it'd be tossed out of court for being too ridiculous. "It's proof because I said it's proof, and you have to trust me on that mr judge"

nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
It'll just redirect you directly to a holding cell intake. Dangerous drivers shouldn't be left on the road.
nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
> If that ever happens to you then document on a Blockchain

?? just any random blockchain? In what way does that help? Also, how? Are you buying small batches of bitcoin to spell a message out using morse code or something? Or is this an Etherium contract that does...?

nilamo··on Police are using AI to pull over drivers for 'suspicious' behavior
We used to call second hand information "circumstantial", and it couldn't be used against you. If the officer sitting in court didn't personally see it, then it didn't happen.

Or did Law and Order lie to us?

nilamo··on Genie 4
It also sounds like Ready Player One, where the real world is so shit, everyone spends all their time in VR, using rented equipment, making nearly everyone a slave to the corporations.
nilamo··on AI promised less work. I've never worked more
And then the business learns how many of their customers were only there because of the sales rep, and jump ship to go to whatever vibe coded app the sales rep makes to specifically handle their "unique" environment.

I'm a little surprised the article stresses Lean programs so much, without ever stating what that is or why it somehow proves something. Maybe that's expected knowledge for this sort of thing.

nilamo··on Somebody please stop the spam texts
And yet there's tons of people in here still getting spam calls. Maybe the fines need to be 10x, clearly it isn't enough of a deterrent.
nilamo··on Somebody please stop the spam texts
That is the law in the usa also. Any cell contact, from a business to an individual, without a preexisting business relationship, is illegal via the TCPA. But that's never actually enforced, so...
nilamo··on Somebody please stop the spam texts
The TCPA was supposed to stop all spam calls. But we just decided to never enforce it.

Performative politics at work.

nilamo··on In Leaked Audio, Flock CEO Tells Cops Backlash to the Company Isn't Real
How are people so chill about police killing anyone? These people are literally paid by the community, to protect the community. Anyone dying at their hands is an insane level of failure, we shouldn't need hundreds of examples when every single instance should be an outlier in the data.
nilamo··on In Leaked Audio, Flock CEO Tells Cops Backlash to the Company Isn't Real
More like another reason for cops to mow down protesters. True Citizens would never protest something so obviously beneficial to everyone /s

Wait what does THAT mean? They got a huge inflow of money, and since they couldn't spend it all, they... bought bonds? And the value of those bonds dropped to nearly nothing?

Because that's worse than losing money, that's incompetently giving it away.
