EDIT: I added an api and other agent friendly improvements https://outerspacejobs.com/for-agents
Currently hovering around 16,000 active job postings +-500 jobs most days.
The USA and Europe are well covered, India, Russia, China, Japan, South Korea are still in progress.
Scrapers run multiple times per day allowing me to track industry trends by country, state, and company (see the Industry Reports) tab.
It's interesting to see the relative hiring velocity of the largest players. e.g. Rocket Lab and Relativity Space are hiring much more aggressively than I expected.

Anyone have a sense of magnitude for this advisory? How much more radiation should an airline passenger expect to receive during a G4 event than normal?
My understanding was that water-demands on Earth were an overblown issue and minuscule when compared to other uses of fresh water such as watering one acre of farmland.
Not to mention, "used" water is just "warm" water that can then be used again for other purposes.
So are they perpetuating a myth here? Or is water use a bigger issue than I thought?
Would probably need to negotiate for a huge amount of dedicated priority bandwidth, but latency shouldn't actually be that bad.
Also hackathons are really easy to host if you keep them under 50 people. All you really need at that size is a co-working space and some pizzas.
So if you don't like the vibe at your local hackathons, why not host your own one weekend?
I think the key is really the size of the thing. Giant hackathons with big sponsors and prizes are always going to be more "serious" feeling than your local self-organized hack-days.
I've long heard that they lobby to prevent the local Government in CDMX from providing potable water in order to protect their bottled water and water-delivery business, but I actually don't know how well substantiated those accusations are.
On the positive side of things, Mexico City gets a ton of rain during the wet season which can be harvested with rooftop collectors.
You can have passive experiences via either medium. TikTok is really optimized for that shallow level of engagement though and books trend in the opposite direction.
Googling for "Math squiggle that looks like a cursive P" is not a very elegant or convenient way of learning new symbol names.
I wish every proof or equation came with a little table that gave the English pronunciation and some context for each symbol used.
It would make it a lot easier to look up tutorials & ask questions.
Our current best solution is to track when jobs get published/unpublished so that we can tell what's a repost (more likely to be a ghost job) vs a fresh job with high-intention to get the role filled.
I was talking to my co-founder this morning about collecting enough data so that we can analyze if it's even worth it for us to apply customers to re-posted jobs (there are legit reasons companies might do that) or if the hit rate is too low to bother (our kpi is interview-requests).
> Environmentalists were outraged when DeJoy announced that 90% of the next-gen vehicles in the first order would be gas-powered.
I was gonna say they environmentalists were wrong for this, if the new trucks get significantly better mpg performance that's still a big win.
But apparently with the AC running the new trucks still only get 9mpg.[1][2]

Can't see the full paper to see if they compared the results of metformin vs a low-sugar diet.
EDIT: Already brought up and discussed here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41522931#41523725

Highlights:
• Metformin prevents brain atrophy, elevating cognitive function in aged male primates
• Metformin slows the pace of aging across diverse male primate tissues
• Metformin counterparts neuronal aging, delivering geroprotection via Nrf2 in male primates
I already default to SQLite for new side projects with the idea that "eventually I'll migrate to Postgres if this project gets legs", so switching to PGlite feels like a no-brainer as long as it's not going to weigh my apps down or force me to upgrade out of whatever entry-level server solution I'm using is for a given project.
EDIT: Found the benchmarks here https://pglite.dev/benchmarks
