nuttendorfer··on BitTorrent Sync Beta API Now Available to Developers
Since you are already answering questions: when can we expect BitTorrent Inc to publish the protocol or at least add the option to run and use your own tracker for syncing?

SyncApp is wonderful but I don't feel comfortable with it being closed source and your infrastructure being used. Thus I use it only to transfer files between computers I wouldn't mind sharing with the world.

nuttendorfer··on Lisp Koans by Google
As someone eyeing SICP with previous programming experience should I do SICP first and then do these koans? How big is the difference between Scheme and Common Lisp?
nuttendorfer··on Google’s Go has some coders raving
AFAIK the function returns to values but you only need name in this case, so _ discards that return value.
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
Opera on Windows, sorry I should have made that clear.
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
Keep in mind that this is just a preview, a work in progress until they are back at where they were!
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
A recent change in Chrome I've noticed are menus and context menus. They are no longer native and I guess they resemble ChromeOS' menus.
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
Ha! Right, I meant Webkit in the OP, but that answered my question anyway. Thanks!
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
Anybody know whether they plan to stick with Chromium or will switch to Blink in the future?
nuttendorfer··on Opera 15 Preview for Windows and Mac with Chromium Engine Released
They are adding features as they go, so I might still come. Strange they left out such an essential feature however.

This has been this way for the last few versions or rather since they changed the UI in version 11 I think. This allows you do double click this array to return to window mode or "drag it down" from maximized which will return it to window mode (Windows).
nuttendorfer··on German railways to test anti-graffiti drones
No there are few few pieces that would deserve to stay on. Most isn't more than ugly names (at least not tags). But what I hate most is when they cover the windows, seriously?
nuttendorfer··on Tarsnap – Online backups for the truly paranoid
Why would you comply with foreign government agencies?
nuttendorfer··on Tarsnap – Online backups for the truly paranoid
I'm still not sure whether I can trust somebody else with my data, but I'm growing more and more concerned of hardware failure of my own backups. Might try Tarsnap one of these days.
nuttendorfer··on Teenagers Hate Facebook, but They're Not Logging Off
Seems to me like people are returning to instant messaging in the form of mobile messaging like WhatsApp and Kik. I wonder who will come out as the winner in this race.
nuttendorfer··on Can gaming be the turning point for Linux on the desktop?
No, I think the fact that consumers are moving towards devices and so are the operating systems for them means Linux will win the content creators.
nuttendorfer··on Commafeed: An Open Source Google Reader Clone
Looks nice but I'll stick to self-hosted readers now.
nuttendorfer··on Commafeed: An Open Source Google Reader Clone
Now this does look quite nice. I'm a Reeder user and the current plan for me is to transition to Feedbin once Google Reader shuts down.

The Reeder developer has mentioned that he plans to add more services to the application but I don't know based on what. If Stringer is compatible at some point with Reeder you've got yourself a happy customer.

If things weren't so unclear concerning the APIs etc that the Reeder developer wants to use I would have started working on a patch right now myself. The Feedbin API is documented here: https://github.com/feedbin/feedbin-api#readme so that could be a good reference point.

nuttendorfer··on How to use a Reddit-clone to boost company culture
Ha! Sorry, I mistook you for Jason Fried!
nuttendorfer··on How to use a Reddit-clone to boost company culture
A lot of people here overlook that Jim clearly must have had fun building Convoy. Working at 37Signals means that he couldn't have taken too long to build this rather simple (yet beautiful) web app.
nuttendorfer··on Lightworks Linux Public Beta Is Now Available To Download
Yes, Linux along with the traditional desktop will be the future for the whole creation process, while consumers will shift to other interfaces and devices.
nuttendorfer··on What the Internet Looked Like in 1995 [video]
Did anybody notice that the average internet user today is pretty similar to the one presented in the video? Users still need a lot of hand holding and guidance to use the web. Back then they used only a handful of sites which is still the case today with Facebook, Twitter and maybe a couple of other sites (news sites, craigslist, Youtube).

On another note I somewhat wish we could go back to a (slightly) less interactive web. Everywhere you go you are overwhelmed with social media plugins and calls to various actions (WE WANT YOUR ANSWERS! [taken from mentalfloss]).

nuttendorfer··on Show HN: Use your phone to present slides on any screen
Reminds me of Photobeamer (https://photobeamer.com) which is equally cool!

Please consider adding a RSS feed.
nuttendorfer··on Google Glass - If I Had Glass
My bad, only skimmed the comment.
nuttendorfer··on Google Glass - If I Had Glass
Probably not but developing it wasn't free.
nuttendorfer··on Show HN: Vinepeek - watch the world in realtime in 6 second snippets
Clicking the link I thought it would be a website covered in video tiles showing everything going on at once. That would be cool, maybe add a second page for this?
nuttendorfer··on Uzbl: Lightweight webkit browser following the Unix philosophy
Couldn't get this to run on OSX despite installing it through macports. Would love to use it as well on Windows as Chrome keeps getting more and more bloated
nuttendorfer··on Is Apple failing to understand family users?
>You could create a new account for each kid. At a mininum, this means that you have to re-purchase all the paid apps from every account.

This is what Apple wants.

nuttendorfer··on Welcome to Polygon. It's a website (finally)
I have to say the layout is pretty unusual and I'm not sure I like it. Maybe I'll get used to it however.

I think advertisers might not like this and pay less?
