okr··on HackerTube: YouTube built from videos recommended by HN
I hear ya. I canceled spotify because of it, because all i wanted was to hear my stuff i consciously subscribed to and only then, when i am in the mood, i want to explore. But no, ya at the hand of what they think is best. And now Youtube does the same. The entire industry is ripe to be disrupted. Wishful thinking. I hate it all. Haha.

Though, from a technical point of view it is top. Always working. Always crisp.

okr··on Apple's git still trusts the compromised eMudhra certificates
Is using the system CA not the way to go?

(on linux you always have the update-ca-certificates command that downloads the root certificates from a trusted™ source. but sure, it will not help, if each command starts to bring their own ca package :)

okr··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
Who is to judge? From my perspective i see everyone else walking in a wrong direction. And from theirs probably me plus everyone else. The outcome will only be known in the future. The system adapts. For some it works, for others it doesnt. That's democracy. Got to live with what is maybe not in my interest, when other people vote for their own and are a majority. That's why people leave countries and hopefully find other places.
okr··on AfD Leak: What 421,179 Hacked Emails Show about the German Far Right
That is not the criteria of banning a party. There is the Verfassung or constitution. If you work towards the abolition of the constitution, then you will get punished.

And that AfD is against the best interest of the people, i guess, you can not be serious. It is a populist party that picks up all the things that people are not happy about and are popular, but ignored. It is actually in the very interest of the people who vote for them. But of course scary for the people, who get voted out. Majority wins.

okr··on How Amazon pushes up prices all across the Internet
I guess it depends. Ordered a phone last month. Returned it because of bloatware. Waiting to this day for the refund. And support line says: please wait, nothing is wrong. While the website says, we need more details.
okr··on Japan halves speed limit to 30km/h on all narrow city streets
Machines allow the city to become bigger. Cars are machines. To move stuff. And big machines like buses, trams, subways, planes can move at batch speed. But fail on granularity.

I would not say, cars are bad. For me they are the cells that bring the oxygen, to use another analogy.

What is missing is organization to avoid clogging. And i dislike the noise and the danger one has. This can be done all better.

But i like cars. I like my bike also.

And after all, i like technology. :)

okr··on Berlin is being blackmailed by hackers
I think it has to do with the fact, that "white" hacking is illegal? I am sure people would like to help out and harden the systems.

But i am also not sure, what actually happened. Once ya in a system, all is lost.

And the culture around credentials is in my opinion a lost case anyways. I do not know where IT has gone a wrong path. Either security it is super high and you can not do anything (hello bureaucracy) or you can do more, but you become more vulnerable.

Anyways. Data is the new Oil, government said.

okr··on Thanks to social media, canned sardines are a scarcity on the supermarket shelf
It has not worked well with fascism. You know that you basically had a gun pointed at your head, if you did not comply with the regime? To be able to keep your stuff, you had to collude with the system. And you had to be not jewish as well.

Can we not finally close all volcanos?
okr··on AWS Secrets Manager Terraform: Least-Privilege Access
I don't even have a long dash on my keyboard.
okr··on France, Germany vow to develop Palantir rival
I also vow for things to magically appear at my door.
okr··on EU ban on destruction of unsold clothes and shoes enters into application
So i buy from my own money fabrics, machines and also i pay handy people to make clothes out of it. I can not sell them all. My Risk. And as an additional punishment i lose the right to do whatever i want with my own property? Mad world.
okr··on AI's Affordability Crisis
I would say so, yep. I just find it funny, that suddenly i am in the position to find for the cheapest option for my lovely AI workers. While usually me is the one who complains to be underpaid. I am in the same shoe as my employers now.
okr··on AI's Affordability Crisis
AI is a worker for me. That i pay for. Basically i am in the same game now to reduce the prizes i have to pay for my workers. Just like the employers are, that seek to reduce costs for employees, as we are simply too expensive. We need more competition among the workers. Let's introduce more chinese workforce! ;)
okr··on W Social, public institutions and the theater of European digital sovereignty
And probably stuffed with tax money. As usual.
okr··on I indexed 669 GB of my GoPro videos using my M1 Max computer and local ML models
Depends how deep you wanna go.
okr··on Wind and solar generated more power than gas globally in April 2026
I find no arguments against solar. I can put it everywhere and has no moving parts. Once storing is solved, perfect.

But wind?? Huge nature areas are destroyed by beton fundaments, rotors break, and just in germany was a scandal lately about recycling, as the first structures need to be renewed.

okr··on Odysseus – self-hosted AI workspace
Who are you again?
okr··on Germany Law to Force Algorithm Boost for State-Approved News
Huh? I think the press in germany was never as free as it is now. A lot of new publications and competition. And that Trump is not reflected critically, nope, i do not agree.
okr··on Greg Brockman: Inside the 72 Hours That Almost Killed OpenAI
ChatGPT or CoPilot were awesome products at the time. I do not use them anymore these days. But to me it felt never like i was abused. And Investment into companies is what it is, a risk. But the results remain forever, whoever wins.
okr··on Toxicity on Social Media
Yeah, have the same sentiment towards Twitter before it has been bought by Mr. Musk. You were always close to being banned. And the American government was colluding. I don't like the tone on X now, but hey, no one silences me, and that is awesome.
okr··on The cult of vibe coding is dogfooding run amok
To my believe there was not a goal to write good code. The goal was maintainability and to keep it simple, so that people understand. People come and go, you constantly get to see foreign code and you have to do something with it.

Anyways, i see the maintainability hell coming onto us. I still wonder how i organize this with AI. I definitly do not want to touch it what is written by AI.

okr··on I traced my traffic through a home Tailscale exit node
Thank you.
okr··on I traced my traffic through a home Tailscale exit node
Oh man, i can not even imagine setting up something like this by hand. Maybe with terraform.
okr··on I traced my traffic through a home Tailscale exit node
Thank you.

I pay like 10 euro per month. For tailscale with Mullad VPN, which has like 50 countries setup with several exit-nodes in each country.

But with blocking. :)

okr··on I traced my traffic through a home Tailscale exit node
I use tailscale and mullvad vpn for a list of exit nodes i can choose from to work around restrictions, but also bad routing.

Like, when in asia and the route is to europe, sometimes it adds weird hops, while when i use an exit-node in Japan, i know, i have perfect routing to Japan and from there perfect routing to europe.

But the Mullvad VPN exit nodes often runs into problems like cloudflare blocking. So i am looking for alternative, not well known providers for exit-nodes.

Sometimes i even dream of sending my europe traffic via the internal aws network via regions, but hey...

okr··on Attractive students no longer receive better results as classes moved online
Or women vs. men, same.
okr··on Spotify playing ads for paid subscribers
I hope not. I am in general fine with Ads for content, even with profiling to what i listen and so on. But if you pay for subscription to get no Ads and still you get Ads from Spotify, then it is plain stupid.
okr··on Spotify playing ads for paid subscribers
Piracy is also predatory, just saying.
okr··on Spotify playing ads for paid subscribers
The last straw was for me the ads on podcasts as a paid subscriber. I miss my playlists.
