outside1234··on US tech giants' hidden AI debt swells 90% to $3.2T in 6 months
OR they think it is a no lose situation. (aka the US Govt will step in and buy their debt if they falter, aka privatize the profits, socialize the losses)
outside1234··on Google will turn off search for schools that reject AI
C'mon. It is almost like we haven't lived this in everything else (search, social, ...).
outside1234··on Anthropic's IPO Filing Warns It May Be 'Imminently' Close to RSI
The supply of idiots in the Stockmarket is very large right now.
outside1234··on Anthropic's internal AI use, at retail prices, now exceeds its employee pay
Anthropic might well be actually spending more than their retail prices to host the API so not sure going to actual cost would improve these numbers.

They did lose an insane amount of money last quarter versus revenue.

outside1234··on Restrooms along the Norwegian Scenic Routes
Remember that the republicans have made it very difficult to vote in a lot of states (huge lines, hurdles, etc.) such that only their demographic has time to vote.

This is why they are so against mail voting. It levels the playing field.

outside1234··on Norway makes shithouses great again
Yes, see AfD in Germany, Vox in Spain, …
outside1234··on Restrooms along the Norwegian Scenic Routes

outside1234··on US Reps Lead Democratic Resolution Opposing A.I. Bubble Bailout for Big Tech
This. Glad we are saying this upfront. You made this mess, talk to your shareholders about the bailout.
outside1234··on Finland investigate Google over destruction of 250k trees
This. This would be real pain for them in terms of latency to launch.
outside1234··on DoorDash to Acquire Instacart
In California the courts look very poorly on that, just in case that ever happens to you.

outside1234··on Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure
any to develop?
outside1234··on Anthropic S-1
It is a business losing $80B a half on $18B in revenue. This is a trash business.

Really? With AI you can have your cake and eat it too with Rust now.
outside1234··on ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program
Now replace "spies from China" with "your husband/wife", and you will see, that yes, there is something inherently wrong with the idea
outside1234··on ICE Planning $100M 'Nightmare' Domestic Spy Program
It is just crazy to me that people traded their rights away just because they got mad at some DEI programs and trans people.
outside1234··on Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) 2026 Cancelled
DEI money -> GPU money
outside1234··on I would like the value of my home to rise, while my property taxes fall
I would also like to not pay any capital gains on that property that rose in value.
outside1234··on Yandex Takes a Second Data Center Hit in 48 Hours
Wouldn't work. They would just send enough drones to overwhelm it or run it out of ammos or Russia out of money. This is the lesson we are learning the hard way in the Middle East.
outside1234··on Yandex Takes a Second Data Center Hit in 48 Hours
They should consider withdrawing from Ukraine
outside1234··on OpenAI annualised revenues $20B less than previously signalled
How much money do they have left? It is hard for me to see how OpenAI doesn't fail at this point. There is no business, no moat. Honestly, the best outcome seems like failing up into a Microsoft acquisition at this point.
outside1234··on Meta and Microsoft take steps to reduce employee usage of Claude AI
In California this would mean the employee would own the IP -- or at least it would be murky -- and companies and lawyers don't like murky.
outside1234··on Meta and Microsoft take steps to reduce employee usage of Claude AI
Microsoft is only limiting employees to $10k a month, down from $100k a month. :)
outside1234··on StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta
I click a quest and answer it but the app seems to be stuck on that quest and I can't figure out how to get back to all of the quests available near me. Is that a common experience?

"When in doubt, baffle them with b*llshit"
outside1234··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
For a prototype or a 1 or 2 use tool, yes, this is exactly how serious people are building software.
