pbj1968··on 60-year-old German man likely seventh person to be effectively cured from HIV
Yes, obviously.
pbj1968··on 60-year-old German man likely seventh person to be effectively cured from HIV
Citation needed.
pbj1968··on 60-year-old German man likely seventh person to be effectively cured from HIV
“Got it through sharing needles” was the 90s version of “got herpes from a toilet seat.”
pbj1968··on Mystery as 4k-year-old axe-heads sent to museum
$60,000 fine… who can imagine why these were anonymously donated… probably dug them up in his backyard
pbj1968··on After 12 years of reviewing restaurants, I'm leaving the table
Complete indifference to food and water that led to fainting and probable heat stroke. Extreme nausea. All mitigated now with medication and forced hydration. Not fun.

Semaglutide is not a drug taken casually. Speak from experience on this one. :-/
pbj1968··on The electrifying rise and litigious fall of energy beer
They’re still around, just not as caffeinated. Still fun to drive around with one between your legs. Just alternate sips with a Monster.
pbj1968··on Shelley Duvall has died
Are you kidding? Most of them are tiny and weird looking in person. Have you seen what Nicole Kidman looked like in her 80s Australian movies? I enjoy her performances but now she is one of the strangest looking people I’ve ever seen.
pbj1968··on The Impact of the Kaspersky Ban
I mean… I was being told 20 years ago that Kaspersky was sketch..
pbj1968··on Crystal Fragment turns everything you see into 8-bit Pixel Art
I was shown one at some game room supply store in 2005, and I would presume older than that. They were meant to be strewn about your poker table.
pbj1968··on Crystal Fragment turns everything you see into 8-bit Pixel Art
Pixel cut peridot is nothing new.
pbj1968··on Is the 10k-Year-Old Yonaguni Monument a Man-Made Marvel or Nature's Art?
A staircase with individual stairs 10 feet tall? Cmon. It looks like a cool dive but cmon.
pbj1968··on Neo Geo Architecture: A practical analysis
There’s an optical drive emulator now, no need for discs.
pbj1968··on Delivery Drivers Got Higher Wages. Now They're Getting Fewer Orders
I don’t mind a $5 fee, but it’s the markup above regular menu prices that generally kills it. I also had multiple issues with incomplete DoorDash deliveries. I doubt the drivers were stealing food, but the restaurants obviously thought they could get away with theft and not be penalized. It was ALWAYS the most expensive entree missing. Had to get into credit card disputes with DoorDash more than once before they were banned from our household. Oddly never once had the issue with Uber Eats.

That being said, the in restaurant experience sure as hell isn’t what it used to be, either. Rarely bother with a sit down place anymore.

Grocery delivery seems to be a winner, though. Costs about $20 more and I don’t have to spend two hours dealing with it? Count me in.

Nobody cares about your mister. Why are you people so compelled to tell everyone about them constantly?

Feels baller as fuck to own an AES, not gonna lie. The system we all lied about owning in middle school!
pbj1968··on The Dinner Party That Served Up 50k-Year-Old Bison Stew (2018)
I mean, I was hearing stories 35 years ago about Russians eating mammooth meat and it wasn’t controversial then…
pbj1968··on The loneliness of the low-ranking tennis player
Yes, the talent quickly falls off a cliff once you get into weird, niche sports. Remember this when the Olympics roll around. If the truly gifted set themselves towards many of those events, the records would be obliterated.
pbj1968··on Law enforcement is spying on Americans' mail, records show
They have been photographing every single package since anarchists were shipping bombs in the mail 100 years ago. Seems to be breaking news every few years.
pbj1968··on The short, happy reign of CD-ROM
Made a “lot” of money (for a teenager) installing cd rom drives into computers in the 90s. The article isn’t lying - everyone I knew was buying them circa 1994 with no idea how to install them. I remember the first high speed one I installed… vibrated the entire desk. Now I’m buying them for $12 shipped off eBay and using usb to power them. Only purpose is burnt games for old consoles.
pbj1968··on Controversial pesticide research all but vanished from a major conference
Name three academic institutions that would sign a contract that prevented them from publishing adverse results. You are at least fifty years out of date on this argument.
pbj1968··on The rarest move in chess [video]
DAE learn about castling from Battle Chess?
pbj1968··on The Mere Presence of One's Own Smartphone Reduces Available Cognitive Capacity (2017)
Photos of everyone clutching their phones now are going to look as cringe as those photos of people holding cigarettes in the 70s. “Why couldn’t grandma put it down for the picture?” Indeed.
pbj1968··on Viagra improves brain blood flow and could help to prevent dementia
I used to buy it over the counter in Mexico for recreational purposes, now I have some ancient prescription I don’t need that’s renewed annually for free. A stiff breeze will work, it’s actually remarkable. It will totally make your skin flush and make you feel light headed, not surprised by any of this.
pbj1968··on Women perform better in cognitive tests when menstruating, study finds
Hahahahahahaha. And the article has photos of women that haven’t menstruated in years.

“attention to detail [was] heightened while menstruating.” Yeah, well. Duh. That tracks.

pbj1968··on Controlling the Taylor Swift Eras Tour wristbands with Flipper Zero
Pretty neat how those work but those Korean ones look way better.
pbj1968··on ICQ will stop working from June 26
Nah, dawg, ICQ supported offline messages and AIM didn’t.
pbj1968··on ICQ will stop working from June 26
Whatever the oldest age you could set on ICQ, I did and dialed it back a few days to make it believable. They had a directory you could sort by age and I was in third or fourth place. At 18 I was getting “are you really 102?” messages all the time. 90s girls were surprisingly eager to send nudes as I quickly learned. I miss it.
pbj1968··on Reversing Choplifter
Ah, should have guessed as much with all the patreon and YouTube links on that website. You got me.
