polyterative··on We detect frontier model misalignment
A very important word is missing at the beginning of this title
polyterative··on Show HN: ADRs for AI – Deliberation records for human–AI work, versioned in Git
I have solved this problem by forcing the model to compress every time by specifying token budgets for the documents
polyterative··on Appreciating the beauty of all your body's scars and scratches
Can confirm that. Major scars and my first broken bone on my third time taking the bike. And I liked it a lot when I was younger.Never had the courage to buy myself a motorcycle but realized that I was going way faster than even my in my car with my bike. Love the thing
polyterative··on AI agent fixed the bug, but what else did it change?
Trying to make AI do what you want just with instructions didn't work for me. In a new system I am designing, I've implemented a set of algorithmic checks to make sure that every to-do affects only the area it needs to and does not create deltas which are unintended. I developed a system of fingerprinting pieces of code to not do the checks every time as well for performance reasons. It's working great so far and I'm building more and more layers of algorithmic checks and the model is beginning to work extremely well with it. I am now able to fill out a limited to-do list and be absolutely certain that only the pieces that I wanted were changed and nothing was broken. Maybe it's nothing new for most of you, but it added so much more confidence in my results in this new system, which will be a hundred percent AI generated. I was very tired with the old way of doing this by relying only on a set of loops and instructions. In it was never giving me this feeling of confidence that I have in this new system I'm developing. I could write about it if there is interest
polyterative··on Way to Play Super Mario 64: On Apple Vision Pro
Not fully relevant to the comment, but I've noticed that most motion sickness issues derive from an FOV which is too low.Big companies set it lower for performance reasons I guess, but on PC I always loved to crank it. And it's not about sitting closer or about the distance in itself, it's about the ratio of the size of the screen to the vision field it occupies
polyterative··on An ad-free Android TV
I'm feeling weird trusting this. Is there any security review on this project?
polyterative··on Nordwand Mono – A monospace font for coders and adventurers
Nice font, it reminds me the kind of fonts they are using when showing code in movies
polyterative··on Show HN: BetterWispr – Free, open-source dictation for Mac
Elgato sells nice ones. I wrote a custom driver so I can avoid using the bloated software that comes with them.Extremely happy with the purchase, that's why I got two.
polyterative··on Porsche Mission S
Noted
polyterative··on Someone on Torrent Sites Kept Fucking with My Sonarr
Reply to everyone, I wasn't criticizing the author, I was just trying to understand what's happening. I am an avid collector of Linus ISOs myself
polyterative··on Someone on Torrent Sites Kept Fucking with My Sonarr
I don't get it. Is this guy admitting of doing piracy? Is that like a thing you do?
polyterative··on Porsche Mission S
Looks nice but the presentation of the website is terrible.Looks like they are try-harding.Not happy with the copy at all.But the lines of of the car are nice to see. Please Porsche keep it together.
polyterative··on Tiny Little Office
My recent strategy to design presentations has been to record meetings, summarize them and dump it all in onn agent. It can create something that is pretty much perfect very quickly. It's all about context and giving to agents as much of it. Of course you need to prompt them a lot to focus on specific areas you want, but the extra raw context really does help.
polyterative··on Show HN: BetterWispr – Free, open-source dictation for Mac
I am having great results by mapping the press to dictate onto my pedal.I have been vibecoding without using my hands for the past four months with great results. It's amazing using the computer without touching it.I can go on for hours with a couple of pedals.I use them to switch windows, dictate and press enter. That's really all you need.
polyterative··on Show HN: BetterWispr – Free, open-source dictation for Mac
In my own vibe coded implementation during the recordings the live transcript gets sent for validation and allows me to take better decision while in the call itself.I'm using a a small local model for processing. Also like when it detects bullshit told by others in real times so I can immediately reply.Fun
polyterative··on Why are coding agents so dumb?
I see your point, but even the fact that I can speak to my computer and anything useful happens is still a miracle to me.I don't think I will ever get accustomed to how good the new models are.I just can't keep up.And I do this for a living.Ten hours a day.

A lot can be improved, but this is already so much speed.

polyterative··on Supabase is acquiring Turso
Could be fun.made product on top of it.Pro plan is still too much, but free quota is too little.having a hard time balancing my hobby project.Still there's not really many alternatives, so probably we'll stick with it.Decent service.
polyterative··on Before pixels: Modular industrial dashboards
One of the most beautiful things I ever saw.
polyterative··on Claude partial outage
Oh come on, I just had my weekly limit reset.
polyterative··on Made by Mechanical Means
It's all getting abstracted away.Even our computers are.But it's cool to see people continue to pushing the envelope. With the latest models releases, I'm starting to think about what even are humans for now.I guess we will continue evolving and keeping track but with how the models are competent now, I can already be satisfied for the foreseeable future.I don't think I would need anything more. And yet we will continue to push.
polyterative··on US Customs supervisor busted for stealing hardware from Homeland Security PCs
I like the way you think.
polyterative··on Data collected by cars and sold to third parties
My car is from 2017, so thankfully it's not.
polyterative··on Initial effects of AI technology on employment look positive
In my company several(40/200) people have are in the process of getting fired with the explanation that AI will help to fill in. I'm not convinced.
polyterative··on I tested 10 model/harness combinations on the same Three.js task
The fact that these tools are capable of doing anything at all is a miracle to me.
polyterative··on Muse Spark 1.3
as a kid I did them like this. nobody told me to do that. are we all so similar?
polyterative··on Highlighting My Code Based on How Much I Care
I prefer mine to have low emphasis because sometimes comments lie
polyterative··on Qwen 3.8 27B
I remember the days of crypto mining memory intensive tasks do not suffer from TDP reduction as much as game rendering. It's so counterintuitive.I remember getting 96% performance at less than half of TDP with my old AMD card.
polyterative··on New Mac Studio with M5 Max and M5 Ultra
Very much happy with my machine.Got a base m4 max studio in December. 2350eur what a deal
polyterative··on Working with AI feels more like leadership than coding
It feels like micromanagement to me.Sometimes it's good, other times it's frustrating. The models are not as predictable for contexts in which I am not familiar with.
polyterative··on Windows 11's built-in Weather app wastes more than 1 GB of RAM
I am using AI to rewrite every proprietary driver/companion soft I had still running on my Mac system.I am using 5/10% of the original application's RAM.I am getting more features. My background RAM usage halved after converting many of them to my own versions.
