ribice··on U.S. government will decide who gets to use GPT-5.6
> It's the best coding model we've ever trained

I assume for more technical folks this is not needed, as it's just a marketing term. There's no need to use such words because it's obvious, none worked for months to release a worse model/phone/laptop you name it.

ribice··on Moving from WordPress to Jekyll (and static site generators in general)
Could you use an open source CMS for non technical folks, i.e. Decap?
ribice··on Ask HN: Any interesting niche hobbies?
Two things, but mostly revolves around sports. As my job in software engineering is very sedentary, I try to remain active in my hobbies.

First is gym - I go every morning before work, do a 2-mile run or 5k, depending on my mood, and then power lifting.

On weekends I hike or climb. I find it very liberating when visiting places without any kind of network and it's me, nature and socialising. I've recently also started an outdoor agency (it's local to my place) - for when AI takes over my job completely: https://boa.ba/

ribice··on Why I don't have fun with Claude Code
Posted a similar thing yesterday: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46719579
ribice··on Your app subscription is now my weekend project
I did this recently at the company I work at. Someone suggested GitBook, I 'Vibe coded' an internal docs website in under and hour. Does what we need, looks good. Unless the app has a large community/network and is just a SaaS with some offering, it'll be very easy to replace it.
ribice··on Ask HN: Share your personal website
I've recently built myself a new one: https://dev.ribic.ba

Old one using Hugo: https://old.ribic.ba/

ribice··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (January 2026)
Multiple things, but among many:

- A sports club management platform, and a way for end-users to sign up for sports events, lessons etc.: https://mojtim.ba/en/

- Given the raise of AI, I'm a hiking guide and would like to have that as an alternative, an outdoor activity agency - https://boa.ba (still very WIP)

ribice··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
I've built a web app primarily for my Hiking Club but then my plan is to also sell it to others.

https://mojtim.ba/en/

'Vibe coded' this in about a week recently. The app is also available in English and has a demo account available.

I wrote about the building process on my Linkedin (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7404469...)

ribice··on My Google Pixel 5 is unable to make emergency calls
I think this particular issue has only been reported on Pixel phones. Since I searched for it throughout the internet (for a solution), I found a dozen of reports with similar issues as mine. I never experienced this on any other phone.
ribice··on Golang Restful Starter Kit
Last month or two I worked on a Golang Restful Starter Kit.

Ideas and motivation behind this project are available as a blog-post on my website: https://www.ribice.ba/go-restful-starter-kit/.

All feedback is welcome.

ribice··on Upwork banned my account for 'being dishonest'
It was more for the reviews than the money. I assume after having few positive reviews, it's easier to get higher paying jobs.

It's a standard guide when joining new freelance sites.

ribice··on Upwork banned my account for 'being dishonest'
You're correct. I did it more for the reviews, so that I can charge appropriate rates later on.

I spent probably 2-3 hours for that $15 (and 3 hours more for additional $30) and then about 2 hours for that $100 (expected $50). These are all excluding messaging, just actual work.

ribice··on Upwork banned my account for 'being dishonest'
You're correct, they did that an hour ago.
ribice··on How switching from Windows to Mac brought me to Linux
OP here,

As mentioned I did use Linux on several occasions previously. On my previous work we used plenty of Oracle tools that were not available for Linux at that time, and older documentation is written in Word/Excel hence we were forced to use Windows.

When I moved I got a Mac, not by choice, so I had to use it for last 6 months (I didn't feel to comfortable to request a new laptop immediately after joining).

Once I felt comfortable I asked for a ThinkPad (x1 carbon 5th gen).

ribice··on Android to iPhone, power user's perspective
I've recently had the opportunity to switch to an iPhone as my daily driver for 3 months, after using Android as a 'power user' for last 6-7 months. In the blog post are my observations from this switch.

I'm open to all suggestions and I'd like to know whether I missed something or not.

This topic is quite popular between Android and sometimes iPhone users, so I decided to write it in details. At the end it's subjective view, so your experience might be a bit different.
