update: downvoted? why? I really think the guy should be credited. He did a fricking awesome job which CouchDB has based its whole image on. The faux movie poster linked at the top of this story has a giant size version of his logo as the very backdrop. This shit is important. Credit him, says I!
Anyone else see a two-order-of-magnitude problem with that statement? Uh .. if it can only transfer 100Mbps, where does the 10.2Gbps video come from? And why does a predicted 10x increase in the base transport speed only translate to a 2x increase in the high level delivery speed?
I am inclined to believe Gruber. If he stakes his reputation (very important to his massively inflated ego) on a specific number, it means he's satisfied it's correct, and that's a pretty strong vote in my book. Could be wrong of course but in the absence of hard evidence I go by gut & human nature...
Let people make their own decisions.
Sorry for the snarky tone but seriously, it's this kind of ridiculous macho attitude that got the US into so much trouble in the first place.
Hell, why limit ourselves to the surface of the sea? The materials nanotech promises to deliver will make it possible to live far above or below sea level with equal ease. Sky-steading, anyone?
I mean I'm all for living within your means and planning and frugality but seriously, don't eat out except for the cheapest fast food around? That's the wrong way to go about it. Upgrade your cash flow, not downgrade your life.
Non-diet soda is almost as bad as cigarettes and we should tax the freaking hell out of it.
Oh, I think the CCP cares very deeply about freedom of speech. Just maybe not in the way that you'd like ; )
Totally agree. Isn't one of the imputed advantages of American entrepreneurship over, say, European, that founders don't lose everything (money, social standing) when they fail? This article seems to be claiming the opposite.
1. using branches as short-term scratch spaces for new features. Branches should not be long-lived and if they are they should be regularly merged, unless you are deliberated separating them for some reason (eg 1.x-stable, 2.x-stable etc)
2. You owe it to yourself to get familiar with a SCM ASAP. I use and recommend git. I also use and strongly recommend a paid account at github. Yes, paid! Then give your programmers access and watch it all come together there.
3. I use and recommend lighthouse. I used to dislike it but it's just so frictionless and easy to use that I can't think of anything else I'd recommend.
Still no 1.9 for me, then :/
It's a pretty lame boast that has to be laden with so many caveats, though.
Huh? My iMac shipped with iMovie, and Windows ships with Windows Movie Maker.
update: whaddyaknow, windows 7 doesn't actually ship with the movie software, you have to download it (free) from http://download.live.com/moviemaker. Still.
