sergers··on Melatonin impairs morning cognition in healthy young adults (2023)
I take 5 to 10 mg a night.

I have taken 20mg, but if I don't end up sleeping made me feel really off/groggy. But that I think more so cause I didn't sleep.

I can take 10mg, get waken up in a couple hours by the kids or pets and feel fully awake and well rested.

Really? Like where in Canada.

You are rarity/have sheltered kid well. ( Have met some families where kids never had fast food, sweets, like rod and todd Flanders in the Simpsons lol)

I'm on West coast, kids in elementary school, and half the bday parties in the lower grades families serving mini cans of coke for the kids (and juice with just as much sugar, pick your poison).

Goto any fast food joint/mcd and see 5yr olds with a soda.

I have traveled throughout Canada to east coast and kids love soda pop/coke too.

Not all kids like soda, many do. Not all parents allow their kids to regularly have side, but may give as a special treat.

More and more kids are drinking coffee due to Starbucks type drinks, but that's mostly just sugar.

sergers··on I am retiring from tech to live offline
Everyone has different situations and different level of risk.

If u lost your job already, u didn't choosingly give up a stable(don't know u, so guessing) job as the other person alludes (don't know their situation so people guessing here).

So if u had a stable good paying job, giving it up to start something new while having a new kid can be very hard .. but doable. Still I'll advised.

If u lost your job, based on job market, career switch makes total sense as you need to help provide and a career switch may provide a better or stable opp.

Many people have successful home life/family life with no financial stability or even a job altogether...

sergers··on RFK Jr.: HHS moves to restore public trust in vaccines
I have seen 8 specialists in padt 1.5 years. And 15+ bloodtests as recent as 2 days ago.

They reviewing my case for a case study at ubc med

Anyone else feel free to armchair opinion and be skeptical.

Did the vax cause the issues directly? Probably not.

Did it trigger somehting dormant already in a cascading affect? Possibly...

Keep down voting i guess if doesnt match your personal experience or u think ita just menopause

sergers··on RFK Jr.: HHS moves to restore public trust in vaccines
i am not a skeptic, but with covid19 vax i first hand witnessed completely irregular menstrual cycles, and nerve issues/trigeminal neuralgia that doctors have been unable to "explain" only occuring after my first jab and continue for years.

i took 2 jabs at that start of covid vaxinations, fcked my life up to be honest.

only now doctors they are saying may be related after years of inconclusive reports..

we jumped the gun on covid19 vax, i am fine with anything being out many many years.

we wouldnt dare give it to our children.

BUT we are upto date and will continue to be upto date on immunizations as required by local health and schools (covid is not one of them).

so we arent anti-vax.

we anti-letting us and our kids be the test bed.

sergers··on The PS3 Licked the Many Cookie
i was thinking similar lines.

maybe i dont full understand "many-core", but the definition the article implies aligns with what i think of latest qualcomm snapdragon mobile processor for example with cores at different frequencies/other differences.

also i dont understand why ps3 is considered a failure, when did it fail?

in NA xbox360 was more popular (i would say because xbox live) but ps3 was not far behind (i owned a ps3 at launch and didnt get a xbox360 till years later).

from a lifetime sales, shows more ps3s shipped globally than xbox.

sergers··on British tourist detained by US authorities for 10 days over visa issue
not everyone uses reddit. i did not see it on reddit.. it was from another news site.

reviewing timelines, it made news circle from facebook before it hit reddit.

sergers··on British tourist detained by US authorities for 10 days over visa issue
or dont lie, apply for appropriate work permits/visa entries/travel authorizations if you are going to work whether its paid or not.
sergers··on British tourist detained by US authorities for 10 days over visa issue
i think she was "working" but potentially unpaid/compensated in lodging staying a t https://www.workaway.info/ (which was reported by the BBC where she was staying)
sergers··on British tourist detained by US authorities for 10 days over visa issue
i was following this on another site before it showed up here:

1)UK citizens dont need a visa perse coming into canada as a tourist

1b) electronic travel authorization form is not required for UK citizens coming to canada over land border.

2)she was staying at Workaway, which depending on how you interpret/misinterpret is "working" (which it possibly is, a little shady on what they are.) so canada may have thought she was going to work... which a tourist visa doesnt cover

so my guess is canadian authorities felt she was coming here to work, which she didnt have the proper paperwork so got denied.

USA authorities upon re-entry attempt, probably felt she is scamming the ESTA 90 days being on a "4 month" trip, staying at workaway locations... and playing devils advocate, there is no proof that this is NOT what she was trying to do... going to a short trip in canada before going back thinking it resets ESTA (they have to be gone from usa for a reasonable time)

so much unknowns.

i think they were right to detain her/deny her entry... but the length of detainment is at issue.

very first thing i think of when viewing their site is this is some lodging for volunteer/unpaid labour. https://www.workaway.info/

sergers··on Automatically tagging politician when they use their phone on the livestreams
Yea kind of odd when the last post by which the submission about is from 2022 when it appears to be last active.

If there was some update, revelation, or even just being active.

I am seeing this person being referred as an "artist".

Thinking its a ploy for sales... they arent really selling anything i would consider valuable or sellable (eye of the beholder?).

sergers··on Norwegian fuel supplier refuses U.S. warships over Ukraine
Being canadian, you just described different styles of pancakes that we just call all pancakes.

Thin, thick, size of a plate, sand dollar size, size of your hands... just all called simply pancakes.

I find the thick ones not good.

Theres a chain of big pancakes size of plate restaurants called dedutch pannekoek house, or just dedutch.

sergers··on Egg prices are soaring. Are backyard chickens the answer?
My wifes family was wicked as they would let the children bond with the animals, without letting them know they gonna be dinner.

She tells a story of a wonderful pet goat. Until one day it was "gone to another farm", and they enjoyed goat curry for dinner.

The older siblings knew... and now they dont talk lol.

I don't take it but did look into it.

If anything getting it for diabetes got harder now.

Canadian employers sunlife insurance.

If you were prescribed it before the influx(not specific date) it was covered for diabetic purposes and still covered.

Now if you want to apply sunlife says NO, but you can get your doctor to send us these forms with additional info about the diabetes diagnosis and need and may be covered.

On the flip side theres a local diabetic that has been getting multiple high dosage units covered, but doesn't actually need them or take them

Flips them for $200 cad each to people looki g for weightloss.... (230-280cad in a pharmacy with prescription no insurance)

sergers··on I was at Woodstock '99 and it destroyed my innocence (2022)
Did not attend, was 13 and in Canada.

I did however watch the PPV feeds on my black box I had setup on the tube TV in my room.

Never seen casual nudity like that before in my life, the blatant sexual assaults in the crowd (clearly visible on camera), and the later the destructions.

Blown away by the scale, on TV... cannot imagine live.

Definitely was polarizing and never seen anything since

It's not clear who added the bytedance researcher to slack as a volunteer.

I would more question what they were doing in violation of the consortium rules inviting the employee, than that employee joining.

And you know, natural disasters.

Usa definitely not immune, but it's been seen how Japan getting hit with disaster affected the tech industry in past years.

sergers··on DoorDash raises minimum pay to $29.93 per hour in NYC
For DD In Canada, you cant reduce the initial tip in the app/site.

You can add an additional Tip post order/delivery.

I have been tipping only like 50cents for down the road, to maybe 1.50/2$ for within 10 mins drive.

Haven't had issues receiving anyorders.

Plus it's not like you get tipped wages here in BC, but they did recent mandate a $21 delivery wage (2$ cad more than standard wage)

For long distance I have tipped more but I am reducing my tipping overall.

Like I am paying a BC bag fee to get a paper bag for 25 cents, well unfortunately that means I am paying 25 cents less for other things including tip
