Seems like the same old story. Rude people defending other rude people so that they can collectively continue to justify their own rudeness. Usually with arguments that don’t stand up to scrutiny. And usually using a fresh account.

Instead it just seems to be an advert for ipinfo on a post about example.com?
Low effort LLM-written content gets upvoted here anyway, despite the writer having little respect for peoples’ time.
> My mistake was trying to combine .tar.gz files using cat. gzip plays ball, but tar throws a strop.
> gzip happily combines the compressed members into a single stream, but when tar tries to read the decompressed stream, it finds the first archive’s EOF marker and stops reading.

There was no reason to say this three times consecutively. But when an AI wrote the blog post for you then this is the level of quality HN readers have to put up with.
No they are not.
Claude isn’t the only option for such a person, as translation tools exist, and English-speaking colleagues exist to proof-read.
In any case, the article author writes perfectly well in English pre LLM era: https://www.kochan.io/nodejs/it-is-ok-to-keep-random-things-...
LLM-driven PoC is common and normal these days (and I do it too). But praising the copy here is like praising stock photos.
Yes, we should all just throw LLM-generated copy out there with minimal effort. Then receive your praise for the effort and care put in XD
The fact you’re still trying to defend an indefensible position suggests you must be trolling. Or at least, I _hope_ you’re trolling ;)
I don’t think anybody really cares, the reaction is because you praised some copy that was obviously written by an LLM and either not edited or barely edited.
It is? It’s just the usual LLM.
Looks like author posted this themselves earlier, and even used Claude for the HN comment:
It would have been less effort than it took you to write this comment. Perhaps next time that you can’t be bothered, just ignore the comment and move on to another thread that meets your required spoonfeeding levels.
(I also allowlist javascript. Regardless of your philosophical standpoint, many websites do break. If you don’t want “smacks me in the face multiple times a day” then stop allowlisting javascript.)
If you’re a 3D rendering designer, an ML engineer or a crypto bro, then sure.
Here are the common workloads (for the average SWE on HN) that use CPU/RAM:
- compilation/builds
- language servers and IDEs
- test suites
- local containers
- local databases
- node tooling
- browsers
- data processing
- compression and encryption
- searching/indexing
Ok sure, top/htop is totally irrelevant now /s/s
After that I always had a CD wallet thing with copies of sysresccd and supergrubdisk and others (including I think an old knoppix cd from a linux magazine).
