shareIdeas··on Amazon Warns Customers: Those Supplements Might Be Fake
I don't even find Amazon cheap. Walmart online is often cheaper.

Where does that leave Amazon? I don't buy anything anymore. Digikey and Walmart online are my prime online stores

shareIdeas··on Do-nothing scripting: the key to gradual automation
I don't think there is a correct answer, but I like that a developer has foresight.
shareIdeas··on Quiet Hacker News (2017)
HN has biased mods and since it's only 1 board, we only get to see what mods want us to see.

Curated content is okay, but I got a feeling theres lots of fake news.

shareIdeas··on Tinder Bypasses Google Play, Joining Revolt Against App Store Fee
Fundementally this is the benefit of Linux. Google provides a nice fortune 500 solution to everything, but you could layer up and delete most of Google's packages.

It's a distro, you can still install extra stuff

shareIdeas··on Headless CMS Is Killing the Buy vs. Build Decision
The goal is to use less skilled labor?

I can't help but to think back on my experiences, that's going to make a terrible program.

shareIdeas··on Microsoft’s Q4 earnings and 2020 expectations
I wonder if you are a "type".

If you don't want products and services from Microsoft, Walmart and McDonald's, all 3 companies who don't seem to advertise much- do you find yourself buying products from big advertisers?

I don't find these companies low quality, so I'm wondering what would make you avoid them.

I'm beyond gigs
shareIdeas··on Front-end design, React, and a bridge over the great divide
So what alternatives?

I don't want to program iOS and Android and web.

shareIdeas··on Despite High Hopes, Self-Driving Cars Are ‘Way in the Future’
5G will give vehicle position better than GPS, will they use this instead of sensors for Lane detection?
shareIdeas··on Zelda Screen Transitions Are Undefined Behaviour
Gluing them is only 1 step.

You still need to write the logic that each layer needs to be useful.

Idk man. Just to make a useful app I need to understand servers, databases, backend frameworks (for security), and front end.

Maybe it's finding creative solutions, but today there is a lot to know.

shareIdeas··on Tesla drops cheapest Model X, S variants, cuts prices to simplify lineup
Mass market car is 40,000 dollars.

That is luxury pricing to the rest of automotive industry.

It shows Tesla is held to a different standard.

shareIdeas··on Tesla employees say they took shortcuts, worked through harsh conditions
I got a bad feeling, if something is free, it's because it was unsafe.
shareIdeas··on EU's GPS satellites have been down for four days in mysterious outage
Do you need a windows os to send a signal to the satalites?

No.

But for some reason the op implied windows was to blame without evidence.

I mentioned the implausibly of it.

Op is misleading people.

shareIdeas··on EU's GPS satellites have been down for four days in mysterious outage
Are there windows operating systems in the satalites?

The only thing those satalites need to do is, accept signal, do math, and transmit signal.

I don't see why you would use Windows for this.

shareIdeas··on I was wrong about spreadsheets (2017)
Ah yes, the confident programmer that would DIY everything.

I feel like underestimating Excel is a classic example how an expert can have holes in their thinking.

With VBA, Excel becomes a ton more useful, adding programming. Excel is merely a visual database you can share with coworkers and encapsulate in a single file.

There is a time and place for everything. Excel is very useful for workplace data sharing and manipulation.

shareIdeas··on Malicious apps infect 25M Android devices with 'Agent Smith' malware
Unacceptable.

Btw what was the attack vector?

shareIdeas··on Nintendo Switch Lite: a smaller, cheaper Switch built for handheld play
I don't see what value Nintendo is providing this generation of gaming. Access to exclusive IP?

Between my laptop and cellphone, I have unlimited gaming for nearly free.

It really makes me wonder what the point of consoles are, they are inferior computers but heavily marketed.

shareIdeas··on How I Taught My Kid to Read
I ran into the bad teacher with Autonomy.

Singled me out because I liked math and she was an English and Spanish teacher.

I had never gotten a C before, but that teacher in a panic admitted that "I wasn't good at her class like I am at math". In reality she was targeting me for some reason and giving me minimal participation credit despite participation.

By the end of the class, enough students complained she stopped teaching Spanish 1. And she still teaches to this day 11years later.
