singularity2001··on Formlabs Studio 1 $699 Resin Printer
I have the sensational $200 bamboo lab printer what would the $700 thing give me more?
singularity2001··on Reviewers rarely talk about reliability. Owners bring it up twice as often
rarely * 2 ≈ still rarely?
singularity2001··on What Happened to the Neanderthals?
We ate them (and married)
singularity2001··on Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5
So instead of the narrative of benchmaxing, in truth it's benchminimizing of competitors by the U.S. oligarchy?
singularity2001··on There are now 5 inference providers for abliterated DeepSeek
there are rumors on Twitter that these upload system profiles to a S3 bucket.
singularity2001··on We should be more ambitious with the software we build
I don't think AI can fix the process, ideology or people issues.

It can if a single developer replaces a whole team.

singularity2001··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
that would be one white page for me.
singularity2001··on Canary Tokens
how do they distinguish 'attackers' from usual crawlers?
singularity2001··on Germany's far-right AfD: half a million internal documents leaked
" There has been a lot of partiality in tech recently to plainly fascist "

For a second, I thought this is Dangs / HN official view now lol

singularity2001··on CERN and Mistral sign a statement of intent to establish a strategic partnership
with a different title, they would have achieved much higher engagement. e.g. CERN and Mistral evaluate if large latent models can advance physics
singularity2001··on Codex Desktop continuously generates Crashpad pending dumps
change a byte ... change it back, get a duplicate.

What are realistic scenarios in which you change a byte back?

singularity2001··on Codex Desktop continuously generates Crashpad pending dumps
switching to copy on write worktrees is the biggest game changer it should become common knowledge pretty soon and it's already available on most operating systems
singularity2001··on Tesla Roadster
in theory it could avoid car crashes in practice the dudes that buy these cars will probably cause more crashes;)
singularity2001··on Why are we even doing all this?
> now that AI has solved all our problems

Make it your problem to find problems that AI have not yet solved. Problem solved.

singularity2001··on Redesigning source control at Anthropic
maybe they visited huggingface or something similar
singularity2001··on Redesigning source control at Anthropic
as the article says one of the main jobs of the humans is to say no to Claude regularly
singularity2001··on Apple HomeView
"There are no alarms ringing." I kid you not, that's the latest tick when I want to stop alarms with three devices in the room.
singularity2001··on Were Software Engineers blue-collar workers all along?
the most provocative comparison which I've heard a couple of times was "elevator operators".
singularity2001··on A look at the math that OpenAI claims computes faster Fourier transforms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic_algorithm for those not in the know.
singularity2001··on Recursive self-improvement through collective intelligence
It says much more than that. It says that all custom architectures and approaches are become irrelevant if compute increases, which was proven again by the large latent models recently solving RL tasks better than any classical RL technique.
singularity2001··on AI Is Throwing a Roadside Picnic
Checking that the theorem is what we really want to prove is much much less work than going through the whole proof though.
singularity2001··on "Robot" Is a Social Construct: Why Your Dishwasher Is Not a Robot
the common distinction between robot and machine is that machines are mostly stationary and don't move by themselves. (Self-driving cars sit in between, depending on further developments, they might slide into the bot category.)
singularity2001··on AI Is Throwing a Roadside Picnic
they definitely do get answers. maybe the path is incomprehensible to you, but the yes or no answer is definitely there: that's what the formal provers are there for. In the worst case you have an Oracle which just answers your question with yes or no but in truth you get many more details if you want to look
singularity2001··on AI Is Throwing a Roadside Picnic
just because humans don't understand it yet doesn't mean that the machine doesn't understand it and can build upon it
singularity2001··on AI Is Throwing a Roadside Picnic
it's data for humans its knowledge for AI. they might be able to process it understand it and build upon it even further
singularity2001··on Five months treating bugs like patients and coding agents like a medical team
congenially my agents started calling bugs gaps
singularity2001··on MrBeast 'spends millions reverse engineering the algorithms on each platform'
what he doesn't measure well are people completely starting to reject his videos for the same reason reasons (not explicitly motivated just because something feels really off about the whole show, for example in his strong versus smart videos the smart stood no chance because they had to do muscle competitions too)
singularity2001··on Lobbying is corruption
Glad that this pops up again because someone flagged a similar discussion:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=50029630

singularity2001··on Imposing Sanctions on the International Criminal Court
It's a big missed opportunity in history that they did not put charges against the war criminals of the Iraq War. They would probably never succeed with these charges, but at least they would have made a statement similar to how Italy declared some Americans as war criminals.
singularity2001··on Why the AI future will be awesome
We will get incredible abundance and health before the singularity. After that, all bets are off (almost by definition)
