siva7··on A barbarian tribe's mythic origin story is true, ancient DNA reveals
> We have a very similar "intelligence and nature-vs-nurture" situation in biology, caused by the very same thing

no we don't. intelligence isn't racial..

siva7··on GPT-6 Astra covertly underperforms on safety research
I'm doubling on the second to the point where i believe they do reinforcement learning on the public models to sabotage such tasks
siva7··on Ask HN: What's your current AI agentic setup?
Same. I've been claude code user since day one but also abandoned that terminal workflow completely. The tasks i'm doing are way to complex to manage inside a tui.
siva7··on Ask HN: What's your current AI agentic setup?
That's the spirit we need and not more of those crying from the majority about "evil ai took my programmer job and love for coding away" to make all equally feeling miserable.
siva7··on YC's Garry Tan uses AI agents so much, he spends up to $200K a year on tokens
Just 200k a year? If this amount is for some folks news worthy get a reality check.
siva7··on Writing seen in PHerc. 306B, for the first time in 2000 years
I can't be the only one who tried to figure out what this new 306B model revealed for the first time in 2000 years?
siva7··on Show HN: Hacker Times, a New York Times-inspired version of Hacker News
wow this is revolutionary. it could change hn forever if folks would start reading at least one paragraph past the submission title before jumping into discussion.
siva7··on Web host Squarespace lays off 19% of its employees
People died off plenty before Corona..
siva7··on Ask HN: Which TV do you recommend for privacy?
What a future. Now not only any fridge has wifi, no, my chinese tv will run an local agent swarm that will try to break into any wifi available to download ads. Maybe it's better if we hand sama all our DRAM and accept our fate.
siva7··on China's First Frontier AI Export Controls: Mofcom Announcement No. 48
> Which doesn't count as an export of the model.

Says who?

siva7··on Do the math: How we took over ChatGPT accounts
that wouldn't be the time worth of many people here to make the security report for OAI..
siva7··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
would it be that worse? at least opus isn't corrupt..
siva7··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
> Dozens of them come from the academic world, and more than half have a Ph.D. or M.D.

Pardon, i may be naive, but shouldn't a stable democratic parliament be somewhat a representation of the citizens who elected them? Do more than half of all serbians have a Ph.D.? I fear this "revolution" isn't what you think it is..

siva7··on Azure's Weakest Link – Five Full Cross-Tenant Compromises
wow i've been forced to use teams for over a decade.. i didn't even realise such useful features exist in other presentation tools. like there is a world with software that actually makes my life easier!?
siva7··on Herdr has released native app
Your comment is so comically dumb.. Herdr is yet another recently vibe coded ai helper in a niche category. You wouldn't miss anything about frontier ai or coding agents if you don't use herdr and/or terminal multiplexers in your workflow.
siva7··on What we know so far about Spain train crash
I'm pretty sure we had modern computer systems around 1990.
siva7··on Gemini 4 Carbon
Then how would you compete with Anthropic and OAI with such boring names?
siva7··on Tailscale SSH: Investigation and remediation update
I wouldn't be too surprised if tailscale has become a critical vector of the internet like cloudflare over the years as most ai companies seem to use it
siva7··on Police Are Using AI to Pull over Drivers for 'Suspicious' Behavior
alright, so finally a "thought crime" becomes reality. i feel the world leaders need to stop turning their eyes blind to ai but unfortunately they are too detached from tech to get what change is happening around the world.
siva7··on Genie 4
I'm blessed to see that even google let their most important marketing prosa be generated by ai models without any proofreading from fleshy humans.
siva7··on Genie 4
So if those genie 4 characters have all individual chain of thought reasoning and persistent retrospection / recollection, how do these human characters know they are not living in a simulation made by biological humans? Not sure you understand what i'm getting at. Some ethical questions do arise.
siva7··on Genie 4
Sounds like the plot from the movie matrix. Only difference between the movie and our real timeline - the ai didn't need to enslave humans, we willingly chose enslavement by ai for ourselves by continuing our google subscription.
siva7··on Proton to 'Re-Interview' Staff About AI to See Who Gets to Keep Their Job
I know you people here don't like to hear this. Proton makes this process very open. Other companies are doing silent layoffs by calling employees back to office, granting generous buyout packages for leaving the company or offering retraining and removing them from their previous roles (while granting those few they want to keep every wish).
siva7··on Partyline: A group voice application for Reticulum, built on LXST
My head read instantly Rectum and XSLT. Never heard of Partyline
siva7··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
You were promoted to perm employee a month in. How does that contradict my earlier statement? The broken hiring process in tech is something entirely different - it was broken 10 years ago, 20 years ago, nothing new
siva7··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
Other ways are to offer "secret" bonuses and perks to the talent you want to keep. If the management / department wants to keep you no matter what, you will clearly notice this despite mass layoffs.
siva7··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
Not true, the market is exceptional for the best in tech. The problem arises when some employees think they are the best - despite the facts not lining up.
siva7··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
> The truth of the matter I think is that you do not actually need the best.

Not all employees need to be the "best". But if you are a top tier company in a given field like Microsoft, you need the best minds to stay top tier, otherwise you will descend. But on the other hand you don't need the lower tier performers to stay top tier except for scaling reasons because the supply for top tier performers is a very small pool...

siva7··on Sebastian Raschka's from-scratch video course on building reasoning models
You wrote so many words to say .. nothing of substance .. i still have no clue what you are criticizing.
siva7··on Flapping Airplanes
> "Together, the founders “are building the ‘young person’s AGI lab,’” as Cahn described it."

As opposed to what exactly? Is OAI considered now the IBM of AI?
