soelost··on Show HN: The $10 coffee that tanked my credit score
Your balance is the unpaid amount on any given day. Your utiization is a snapshot of your balance on your statement date.

You could have a 0 balance for 28 days and unknowingly make a large purchase the day before your statement closes and now youre at 63% and your score takes a hit. You could also be at 63% of your limit for 28 days and pay just before your statement closes and have a 0% utilization and your score doesnt take a hit.

So even if one pays the balance in full every month, so that no interest charges accrue, they can impact their credit if timed incorrectly and that could lead to higher rates elsewhere.

I'm sorry it didn't translate as I'd hoped.

It was trying to download the PWA then the domain started giving me issues. Its now at https://whichcard.info

Yes, theres more to that than the 30% rule.

The goal is to optimize your utilization: - start with the 30% rule for daily management - spending: dont use AMEX until tomorrow - use Chase instead - bills: move AXA car insurance to Discover card to save $10/mo - due date: move utility bill from 7th to 10th to drop utilization 9% * avoid spending between due and statement date because that could "undo" your payment and artificially spike your utilization

Ha! Or the police.

Your comment actually made me laugh. I replied saying, "My feelings have been hurt! laughing emoji", but didnt realize the emoji didnt send.

Haha! Every knocker will be assigned a personal knocker. ;)
soelost··on Show HN: HumanAlarm – Real people knock on your door to wake you up
The Airbnb integration idea is brilliant! Travelers definitely have disrupted sleep schedules and unfamiliar settings. Hotels offer wake-up calls but Airbnbs don't. That solves both the verification problem (host vouches for guest) and creates a clear use case. Thanks for the insight!

Exactly! Same concept, just updated for 2025. Amazing how some solutions are timeless.
soelost··on Show HN: HumanAlarm – Real people knock on your door to wake you up
Interesting! Makes sense for shift workers who couldn't rely on family to wake them. Same core need.

Fair question on price! But if loud alarm clocks across the room worked for heavy sleepers, this wouldn't exist. I've tried every alarm hack - the human element and social pressure is what makes the difference. Plus $19 occasionally vs missing important meetings/flights is worth it.

Japan would be amazing! Maybe we'll be there on your next trip

Exactly! Nothing like real accountability to make you take responsibility. Your boss was onto something.

Where and when was this?

Thanks for the suggestions! Just added service areas back to the site. For proof of service, I like the photo idea - definitely considering that for when we scale beyond just me doing the knocking.

Sounds great until they show up 30 minutes late and barely tap on your door. Breakfast delivery also assumes you're awake to receive it and that restaurants are open before your wake-up time! We show up on time and knock persistently - plus not all wake-ups are in the morning.

As someone with IBS whose considered building this many times. Well done!

Fair question! For me, phone alarms blend into dreams or I unconsciously turn them off. But a real person knocking? That's an external force I can't dismiss subconsciously. Plus someone is literally waiting for me to get up. But if changing your alarm tone to a door knock works for you, then by all means!
soelost··on Show HN: HumanAlarm – Real people knock on your door to wake you up
You're absolutely right - just added service areas back to the top of the site. Currently serving Silicon Valley and expanding based on demand.
soelost··on Show HN: HumanAlarm – Real people knock on your door to wake you up
Definitely easier to scale since you can automate the whole process, but there are at least 4 apps in the phonecall space.
soelost··on Show HN: HumanAlarm – Real people knock on your door to wake you up
Contact link was broken because I moved it to its own page but it should work now. FAQ isnt ready yet. Thanks for calling it out.

Honestly, we can't prevent this any more than we can prevent prank phone calls or fake pizza deliveries. Hopefully, the price is the main deterrent.

Do you have any suggestions?

soelost··on Ask HN: Anyone Versed on Apple HealthKit?
Is there a fee to use HealthKit, beyond the developer membership fee?
soelost··on Ask HN: Anyone Versed on Apple HealthKit?
If anyone is curious, according to 1up Health:

Apple Health via Healthkit recently introduce the ability to pull individual patient health records from hospitals and clinics using the same FHIR functionality as 1upHealth. (Note that Apple Health does not support all the health systems supported by 1upHealth) That patient data is stored on the device and does not natively support a cloud or RESTful API experience. That is a limiting experience because you cannot query your patient data across populations or for specific items within their medical record. To enable a cloud based functionality, you can push the FHIR healthcare records from the user's device to 1upHealth and store it in our cloud backend enabling your applications to interact with the data in a RESTful manner. Star by creating a free 1upHealth developer account. Then follow the other steps below.

Of course. I looked him up again but this I included HIV in the search. Can't believe I missed it the first time.

Thank you for identifying "what" it is. Just did a quick search and I see how it could be sketch.

Nothing about STDs though...

It made me laugh because it caught me off guard. But never say no-one because people do weird things then go online and form groups around those weird things. LOL

100% coverage isn't needed. As long as alerts and testing aren't taking months and the infections aren't being recycled then I am happy to help a few. But I would much rather help the masses. But as you've shown it definitely won't be easy. Btw, if you just want email alerts let me know ;)

soelost··on Ask HN: Does anyone care about STD prevention?
No-one? Those are strong words.

You add them using their phone number. You can give them a name just so you know who's on your list but the system won't actually have their name. As of now, if me and you have a mutual partner, that partner doesn't have to be a member, but the two of us would have to add the person to our lists. International is important: Im sometimes one of those people. Luckily we end up connecting on Facebook or IG. For now I'll be starting with the US to get my feet wet. If theres interest then I will proceed. People sleep with strangers, some people are poly, regardless of the reason, its a way to keep track of who and when, and if needed, to also alert them.

Whats your second reaction? LOL

soelost··on Ask HN: Does anyone care about STD prevention?
When you said personal journal my thought was, this isn't a journal but it is a personal log. It's not like me or any other users can see it.

I definitely want to move in the direction of users logging partners on their own, and clinicians sending out the alerts but don't know how to tackle that part so Im starting with user inputs since thats fairly straightforward.

Why are you so accepting of it in the context of a healthcare system but not so much when its outside of that? Isn't a registry a registry no matter how slice it? And what features or safeguards would make you more comfortable with it outside of a healthcare system?

BTW I really appreciate you letting me pick your brain.
