thisistheend123··on Ask HN: How do you deal with rude interviewers?
Interviewed at Samsung ( Noida India) around 2016, where exactly the same thing happened with me.

Was being interviewed by a panel of 4-5 people. The main guy, who I presume was the hiring manager stood up in the middle of the interview and left the room, seemingly unimpressed with my answers.

Thankfully I didn't get through and heard many horror stories regarding their culture in later years.

thisistheend123··on Ask HN: If you cut caffeine, how long would you last at your job?
Serious question: Is everybody on HN suffering from ADHD? Every other commentator here says that he has ADHD.
thisistheend123··on 3,200-year-old Egyptian tablet records excuses for why people missed work
What's it doing in a "British" museum?
thisistheend123··on Hacker News Guidelines
I feel that people who find HN good, do so for a reason.

They are the kind of people who are in majority in HN. They have similar views and when they comment here on HN their views are accepted and prompted more readily.

This makes it a kind of an echo chamber.

All deviants get banned or their comments are greyed out.

Dissenting is not allowed and dealt with severity and finality.

thisistheend123··on HackerRank (YC S11) DMCA'ed the SymPy Docs [fixed]
Wow! Guess we will never know if this would have happened if it did not make it to the front page of HN.

Also @dang, has this post been pinned at the top of the page for everyone to see.

Edit: guess it's not..

thisistheend123··on HackerRank (YC S11) DMCA'ed the SymPy Docs [fixed]
Hacker Rank is a pretty shitty company. The platform is full of bad UX/UI. The questions are pointless exercise in wasting time and energy.
thisistheend123··on I Made an Entire Call Center Angry over Losing $94k [video]
Being an Indian, I can vouch for the fact that this is a South Asian accent, and very high probability that it is from either North, West or Central India.

I don't know why these young people have got into this. There's plenty of opportunity to get a job in India today, if you can even read and write just a bit of English.

My head hangs in shame. :(

thisistheend123··on Sounding the alarm: How noise hurts the heart (2021)
I don't do, but can't stop my spouse sitting beside me from doing that ... Hence the problem .. :-)
thisistheend123··on Sounding the alarm: How noise hurts the heart (2021)
No one here has mentioned the most horrific noise that has come into existence only a few years ago.

I am talking about apps like Facebook, Instagram suddenly playing sound of a video at full blast when it scrolls into view in a feed.

God I hate these apps and this thing called smartphone that has taken over our lives.

Fuck all this modern shit. We should have never come out of the caves.

thisistheend123··on Sounding the alarm: How noise hurts the heart (2021)
I simply don't understand why we have to put up with this kinda shit. Dogs barking I mean.

The one thing i noticed when visited Dubai, there were no random dogs barking even in dense condos.

This is what magic looks like.

Great work.

Looking forward to when they start creating movies from scripts.

thisistheend123··on Ask HN: How do I develop focus?
Focus is another buzzword that has been made popular and granted cult status by Money minded Western self help Gurus.

Fuck focus.

thisistheend123··on How to get kids to do chores: Does the Maya method work? (2018)
Lead by example. If you want your kids to behave in a certain way, behave that way yourself.
thisistheend123··on Mataroa blog – Naked blogging platform for minimalists
I see nothing here that is minimalistic or different.

First of all, having a dark mode by default is not minimalistic.

Edit: wow, downvotes without any explanation. You guys must be having a lot.

thisistheend123··on Ask HN: Why does Google greatly limit search results if I am logged in?
But they really do know more about you than you do.

For the majority who are least concerned about privacy that is.

Power users or users with esoteric search needs are a miniscule minority.

When you make a product, do you really care about what your 1% userbase wants or what most users are likely to understand.

Beating up Google for promises made in ancient times is a norm. They changed like everyone else does.

So what exactly is the criteria for a country to be called Western or Eastern?

Is there a hard criteria at all?

thisistheend123··on Kosovo pulls plug on energy-guzzling Bitcoin miners
So you consider Kosovo to be a western country?
thisistheend123··on Kosovo pulls plug on energy-guzzling Bitcoin miners
Could there be a similar ban or some regulation on crypto mining in western countries?
thisistheend123··on Ask HN: Just saw 40 satellites flying in straight line one after another

thisistheend123··on Prince of Persia in JavaScript
This comment hits the nail on the part just between eyes.

There is an effort we can put in teaching our kids c++ and even better if we can start them on leetcode at an early age

This will help them improve their problem solving ability and they will also get frustrated when they are not able to solve a hard graph problem.

But the hardest problem never is the problem itself, but the inability to keep on going when the problem seems very hard.

When kids learn how to handle that and when all the kids in the world know how to handle that, then surely we are looking at a future generation that will help solve all the hard problems that we are not able to solve like World Proverty, income inequality and global warming.

thisistheend123··on It’s cheaper to stop emitting now than to pull carbon from the air later
This is going to be very difficult. But we should be able to do it if all of us thought real hard about it.

Think of how to remove CO2 most efficiently from the air. Then scale to global while keeping it cheap.

Then get all the world citizens involved. We can have movies, concerts, video games, political campaigns, social media campaigns, support from big tech like Apple, Alphabet, Amazon.

Then when all the world citizens will come together and they will push together, this will be achievable and we will win the race against time and humanity will survive and thrive.

It is not impossible. Because impossible means i m possible.

thisistheend123··on My Path to Financial Independence as a Software Engineer
I have a noob question:

If everyone thought and lived like this. Save everything, don't spend too much, don't have kids etc. Would it not lead us into a world where there is not enough economic activity and growth.

And the money that you do have in that case would not be worth much anyway..

thisistheend123··on Ask HN: How do you prep for meals?
Considerable effort goes into planning for a meal.

It is the most important daily activity for us.

Almost all of us in present, those in the past and in future, have lived their life doing stuff so that they can earn enough to buy food to keep their stomach filled and to keep themselves alive.

So it should not come as a surprise when I say that planning for your meal is the most important activity that you can do.

For those who can't cook, it is the greatest handicap. You rely on someone else so you can fill your stomach and stay alive.

Cooking, selecting different foods, knowing how to prepare different recipies, knowing how to clean the raw food, meat or veggies, to ensure hygiene and knowing your utensils, and how to keep them clean, and your cooking gas, is essential too.

Knowing when to eat what. All these things should be taught to everyone at school like they do with Math.

We can find its reference in 'navroz' as well. I guess, the 'roz' comes from 'Rooz'.
