throooooo··on Sshole
The bugs and commits that "fix" them reveal somewhat of a shitshow for how musl is managed. All projects have bugs, but I can't help but question why the wheel was reinvented here. Many toes have been stubbed along the way.
throooooo··on Why Did Meta Suspend a US Senate Candidate's Instagram in the Middle of a Rally?
Yes an extremely contentious race if you pay attention to politics. A year ago if anyone had said Dems have a chance of a Senate majority during the midterms you'd have been laughed out of the building.

It's insane that one has to go through this to be somewhat safe.

No
throooooo··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
Same goes for most ISPs, which are needed to connect to the Internet.
throooooo··on Tesla Roadster
Why would you call yourself a fanboy? I can't get past his meddling in governments worldwide and clear self-seving in DOGE.
throooooo··on Someone on Torrent Sites Kept Fucking with My Sonarr
You can join private trackers for free if someone invites you. Ratio and minimum seed times are requirements.
throooooo··on CPI-U rises 7.2% annualized in September (3.7% YoY)
I'm cautiously optimistic with the DSA candidates that have been winning. People have had enough of the status quo. However, at this point I'd take status quo over the chaos and blatant corruption of those currently holding a majority.
throooooo··on CPI-U rises 7.2% annualized in September (3.7% YoY)
Our country has been at a breaking point for a long time now. More pain will only result in greater societal ill.
throooooo··on CPI-U rises 7.2% annualized in September (3.7% YoY)
If he's trying to manipulate the economy in the direction of lowering cost of living, he's doing a terrible job at it. Useless wars and tariffs have been highly inflationary.
throooooo··on CPI-U rises 7.2% annualized in September (3.7% YoY)
And just what action is POTUS going to do to make things better? He's not in charge of interest rates. Start another useless war? Piss off another country? More inflationary tariffs? Give another multi-billion military contract to his family?

Hope you start eating healthier. That frankenfood isn't good in the long run.
throooooo··on CPI-U rises 7.2% annualized in September (3.7% YoY)
Yeah, people have the memories of a fruit fly. It's why Trump was elected again after his disaster of a first term.
throooooo··on Passkeys are a trap
I skimmed the article, lots of info. I use multiple Yubikeys with passkeys and feel better about the auth experience than any other solution thus far. When I have a negative experience I'll reexamine my usage.
throooooo··on The RAM shortage is bringing back DDR4
Who is "they"? Certainly we have some concentration of consumers of this hardware. Are you saying they'd rather destroy the hardware to protect their supplier's market rather than allow the secondary market to function as normal? Maybe this is written into contracts? We're in a very sad state of affairs if that's the case.
throooooo··on The Corporate Happiness Treadmill and the Case for Doing Less
Personally I am lucky and privileged enough to be on a FIRE path, but not everyone is able to do so. And not everyone is shackled to high paying jobs. Some people are working 3 jobs and very much need each one of them.
throooooo··on OpenTPU – An open-source AI accelerator, developed by AI
We've had other "apocalypse" scenarios before (industrial revolution and manufacturing automation) where we successfully transitioned to a new way of living and being productive. The optimist in me says that there's nothing special about AI this time around.
throooooo··on The Corporate Happiness Treadmill and the Case for Doing Less
Yes, it always has been a forum primarily for SV tech workers. As a tech worker outside of that locale, it's interesting to see the perspectives of people within it.
throooooo··on The Corporate Happiness Treadmill and the Case for Doing Less
I've worked at various tech jobs and have not really gotten meaning out of them. Coding, committing, pushing, and deploying gave some dopamine hits, but not long term meaningfulness. And now AI agents are doing those things anyway.

If people have found meaning while pushing bits around, I'd love to hear about it. I think working to improve other's lives directly (healthcare, charity work, community involvement, etc.) can provide the most meaning to people.

throooooo··on The Corporate Happiness Treadmill and the Case for Doing Less
Also consider the insecurity that our system creates for people. Losing a job can snowball into something much larger. There goes your healthcare, mortgage payment, retirement contributions, ability to find another job (depending on the current state of the market), etc.

throooooo··on OpenTPU – An open-source AI accelerator, developed by AI
Like mostly all tech, AI is destined to get cheaper with time. We're still pretty early on and are experiencing a hardware crunch, which will ease eventually.

AI doesn't have workers rights, doesn't burn out, doesn't get sick, can be instantly onboarded, etc. The second we can be fully replaced with AI, we will be. Plan accordingly. I'm pursuing FIRE and considering moving into a trade.

throooooo··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
Simplicity to the point of hostility towards the user. This is a recurring pattern with Apple, and a reason why I don't use their equipment.
throooooo··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
For the future, it shouldn't be necessary to reinstall Linux just to fix a sound card. Pipewire et. al are a bit of a mess and sprinkle config files in /etc and your home dir. If it happens again start with deleting those and doing a restart.
throooooo··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
Vendor lock-in increases their profit margins. If people could purchase a 128GB Mac mini and install their own 2TB drives they wouldn't make as much money.
throooooo··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
Depending on how much you value your privacy or not being annoyed, some people see it as mandatory.

I used to use XMonad (now on Hyprland) and feel that the tiling window manager experience you can get on Linux doesn't have an equivalent on macos. KDE is solid but yeah it's plain jane.
throooooo··on Run Qwen 3.8 Flash Next (125B) on consumer hardware (RTX 4090) at 100T/s
How would you do that? Just rely on the user agent? I use curl quite a lot, but don't pipe to a shell.
throooooo··on Show HN: Thoreau BASIC – What if BASIC hadn't gone out of fashion?
I'm guessing those type of folks will be well served by LLMs and need not care about specific languages.
throooooo··on Docker has always used microVMs (well since 2016)
I washed my hands of Docker back when they changed the licensing of Docker Desktop. Podman is fine.
