throwaway118899··on Epic says Apple will reinstate developer account
Anti competitive behavior? Over an App Store that’s only important because of the success of their phones. Phones that people don’t need to buy because there are alternatives? Miss me with actual harms being done.

Edit: Of course your anti-Apple bias shows and you downvote anything going against the circle jerk

throwaway118899··on U.S. blocks sale of AMD's China chip
We knew it wasn’t going to end well when America helped the world rebuild itself instead of taking it over after WW2 when we had nukes and nobody else did.
throwaway118899··on AWS acquires Talen's 960MW nuclear data center campus in Pennsylvania
Every article I’ve seen posted to HN about this topic has some cute or clickbait title to overhype the nuclear aspect.
throwaway118899··on Amazon goes nuclear, acquires Cumulus Data's atomic datacenters for $650M
AI is going to replace journalism because it won’t feel the need to make cutesy play on words in their clickbait headlines.
throwaway118899··on New 13- and 15‑inch MacBook Air with M3 chip
The key is to treat Windows users like children and lock it down with an administrator password. You’d be amazed how well Windows holds up over the years if you just prevent them from installing whatever random bullshit they find.
throwaway118899··on Leftwing group claim responsibility for Tesla factory arson attack in Berlin
Overly pedantic comment. Who cares what the definition of hippy is
throwaway118899··on Leftwing group claim responsibility for Tesla factory arson attack in Berlin
Honestly that’s what doing business in the EU is like right now. Their entire bureaucracy seems to have become an operation for enacting laws that enable them to sue foreign businesses and line the pockets of their politicians.
throwaway118899··on Russians Keep Turning Up Dead All over the World
Border control catching every hitman with the backing of an entire country… You need to stop watching CSI shows buddy.
throwaway118899··on Russians Keep Turning Up Dead All over the World
Who are these people, and why should I, part of the west, give a single shit about Russians running from the problems of their own country?
throwaway118899··on US prescription market hamstrung for 9 days (so far) by ransomware attack
> One the primary goals of any - and indeed every - medical system is to ration resources.

We can fix this. Essentially, every smoker, every alcoholic, and every obese human immediately goes to the back of the line.

No need for this convoluted bullshit of a system.

throwaway118899··on US prescription market hamstrung for 9 days (so far) by ransomware attack
Hey Russia/China/India, can you keep up your attacks? You might be the only thing that can get this abomination of a system we call healthcare replaced.
throwaway118899··on Why South Korean women aren't having babies
Yep. I’ll be more willing to take a risk and have a child with someone if they won’t get de facto custody and financially ruin me for life if we divorce. Which is statically more probable than us staying together.
throwaway118899··on >50% of college graduates are working in jobs that don't require degrees
Well college students spend their entire life having someone tell them what to do and for the first time they need to figure out things in their own.

They’ve also been told to “just learn to code” and are shocked pikachu when someone with a 4 month boot camp is more employable than them in software.

throwaway118899··on A 13yo built a 'death ray' using a 2k-year-old concept from Archimedes
I made a scaled down death ray too when I was younger.

It’s called a magnifying glass.

throwaway118899··on Wendy's, burned by CEO comment, vows no price surges for burgers
Dude was CEO for less than a month before trying this bullshit. It’s just what MBAs do, and they’re the sole reason behind what we’re starting to call enshittification. He went into that job with that idea, and I can guarantee all his other MBA snakes are thinking about ways to implement this.
throwaway118899··on Wendy's, burned by CEO comment, vows no price surges for burgers
Yep, they’ve lost me and I usually get something from there 3-4 times a week because it’s the closest thing nearby. I estimate I’ve spent a few thousand there after starting to work from home two years ago.

This idea simply cannot be tolerated.

throwaway118899··on Google CEO calls Gemini completely unacceptable, vows to make structural changes
It’s going to be treated as what it is, psychological warfare to undermine the stability of America. No other country on this planet seems to suffer these issues to the extent that we do.
throwaway118899··on US Military pulls the trigger, uses AI to target air strikes
Nonsense. The core of an article can always fit in a headline. Journalists and their editors know what they’re doing.

Alternative: “US military pulls the trigger, implements AI-assisted pattern matching for military target acquisition”

I even kept their “pulls trigger” pun.

throwaway118899··on Wendy's says it has no plans to raise prices during the busiest times
Yes. MBAs think everyone else is retarded and they’re the people 100% responsible for every ounce of enshittification we deal with on a daily basis.

It’s to the point where, if you’re an MBA, I automatically think the world is better off without you in it.

Edit: And yes, that’s a call for MBAs to commit suicide. We’re literally all better off. Flag me if you want. Idc

throwaway118899··on Wendy's says it has no plans to raise prices during the busiest times
Doesn’t matter, they’ve already lost my business that netted them upwards of $500-1000 per year. Yes, I order that much from them as I work from home and they are closest.

An example needs to be set for this, where anyone who floats the idea is driven out of business. Dynamic surge pricing in the food industry will actually destroy society.

throwaway118899··on Why the world stopped having sex
Odd, taking an antidepressant was the best thing I ever did for my sex life. Small doses of Sertraline does wonders for performance anxiety and premature ejaculation.
throwaway118899··on GenAI and erroneous medical references
I’m going to make a career out of tricking chatbots into giving wrong advice and suing the companies using them.

Like what happened with the Canadian airline but on an operationalized scale. Imagine a small call center dedicated to destroying companies who get rid of their human customer support.

throwaway118899··on South Korea slaps ₩435M fine on Twitch for suspending service
The world is finding out they can just make up whatever laws they like and fine American tech companies for easy cash.
throwaway118899··on Tyler Perry Puts $800M Studio Expansion on Hold After Seeing OpenAI's Sora
I use a throwaway account because any talk whatsoever about these things is enough to get fired from most left-leaning startups. So deal with it.

Original comment was upvoted but still got flagged, which is evidence of exactly the type of sensitive bullshit I’m referring to.

throwaway118899··on Google Pauses Ability to Generate Images of People
> Or is the underlying model strongly biased towards certain outputs?

While Reddit might have just publicly announced an AI deal with Google, I highly suspect Gemini has been trained on Reddit’s dataset, extreme left leaning sensitivities and all.

It’s the reason why Reddit sold out for so cheap. Their product has already been deemed as flawed, and they want to IPO before people find out in hopes others are left holding the bag.

throwaway118899··on Reddit hasn't turned a profit in 20 years, filed to go public anyway
I’m going to take great personal joy in watching Reddit burn itself alive.
throwaway118899··on Google Will Pay Reddit $60M a Year to Use Its Content for AI: Report
Have you seen what Reddit looks like lately? It seems cheap because the training data they’re offering is junk.
throwaway118899··on Google to pause Gemini image generation of people after issues
Oh and nobody cares that it did that. Google only took action once people started making images of black nazis.

This does feel too amazing not to be a purposeful middle finger to DEI efforts.

throwaway118899··on Google to pause Gemini image generation of people after issues
Ah, so it was disabled because some diverse people didn’t like they were made into Nazis, not because the model is blatantly racist against white people.
throwaway118899··on Google to pause Gemini image generation of people after issues
And by “issues” they mean Gemini was blatantly racist, but nobody will use that word in the mainstream media because apparently it’s impossible to be racist against white people.
