throwaway85825··on AMD expects to outsell Intel in Q4 for the first time in history
Rory Read doesn't get enough credit for saving AMD from bankrupty.
throwaway85825··on US voters roundly reject data centers in ballot measures
Rents rise in proportion to the rest of the market, you look at comparables. The market is a function of supply and demand. When my city passed a bunch of tenant laws ~16k units left the market and rents went up proportionally.

Patents should require a prototype demonstration. Would clear up a lot of the patents for preexisting ideas.

Instead of a tariff, shipping cost could be separated from good cost. Further separate the shipper and require competition.

There are still goods that are primarily bought in person, hazardous and large where shipping is prohibitive.

No, LLMs are still happy to mow down grannies to protect copyright.

Government adds mountains of red tape, taxes employers to death and has reduced the spending power of the median worker to below poland through its plantation migration policy.

Commercial units sit empty instead of lowering rents because of the 'extend and pretend' in lending. The banks can't afford to revalue commercial real estate at the current market rate. It's like the 70s again.

0 value add retail was always going to evolve to a lower friction experience. Sears roebuck catalog disrupted retail in the 1800s.

When commercial rents aren't artificially inflated it allows for a greater diversity of businesses. There are tons of businesses that could exist if the government wasnt so intent on running a plantation economy.

They don't have inventory/consumables which makes money laundering easier. The low transaction cost makes paying cash normal. The primary cost is labor and they force the indentured employees to pay it back for 'living expenses'.

Infinite context requires Infinite memory.

That's the push factor. The pull is, say there's a giant repo like windows or Adobe. LLMs produce spaghetti code because the repo doesnt fit in the context and it wasn't in the training set. If Adobe fine tuned it the LLM would be much more useful.

I would take that number with a huge grain of salt since the useless Google search ai box consumes Gemini tokens.

Intentional Gemini token consumption is likely very very small.

It's going to be all about the training set. Theres no moat in models trained on internet data.

There are tons of private datasets where a model will be fine tuned to provide useful domain specific responses.

It's not just the maximum refresh rate, the variable refresh rate allows for power saving.

throwaway85825··on Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you bought
If they had charged people the economic price up front instead of intentionally bait and switching this wouldn't be controversial.

1. No rockets

Drones are extremely weight sensitive. Adding a heavy thruster would massively eat into the payload.

Trucks are also weight limited by the 80k rule. Brakes are far superior.

I'll bite. What do you see as applications of for commodity cold gas thrusters? Excluding rockets.

I accidentally went to a DSA meeting once. Was entertaining, they spent much of the time attacking eachother.

Putnam did followup work investigating the causes.

Research on this has been done and the cause is known. There is just no desire to improve the conditions of social activity on the part of civil society or the government.

Much of this was taken back into government control after Wagner shot down government helicopters and a plane.

In some countries maybe, but in west where all the valuable infrastructure is there is absolutely no way you could get a permit to shoot down anything.
