tigereyeTO··on I don't like passkeys
You’re the first person in these comments to mention 2FA with passkeys.

My gripe with passkeys is they are almost always implemented without a second factor.

You’ve mentioned the rare case of 2FA with a passkey as being a bad thing, but in my opinion those few cases are actually doing it RIGHT.

With passwords and 2FA, if someone manages to copy your primary authenticator (password) they will still be locked out because they don’t have your secondary authenticator. This protects you against malware that steals your password database.

But the way most companies implement passkeys (single auth), if someone steals your passkey database they can use it immediately. For all of the true measurable benefits that passkeys bring (not memorizable, higher entropy, automatic storage and use in a database) they are almost always used in a way that has this huge drawback: no 2FA.

This is not an issue with passkeys directly, it’s an issue with how services implement passkeys.

Losing your wallet or purse? Cash gone. Fraud? Yeah and now what?

Seller and buyer protection don’t exist with cash either my dude.

If you’re going to compare apples and stones at least do it honestly.

Each payment option has its own advantages and disadvantages, and it’s fantastic that we have the freedom to choose from a variety of products and services to use.

I hated it when PayPal froze my funds and wished there was an option where a middleman couldn’t decide who I am allowed to pay. Then Bitcoin came along. For me, Bitcoin works great. For you, your method of choice works great and I’m happy for you.

“Yeah no.”

Ah yes let’s ignore the tons of energy being used in giant data centers run by visa and Mastercard to operate the payment cards used by billions of people around the world.

“Yeah no.”

You know what happened in USA? A lot of people got their cash stolen.

Your arguments are as coherent as the dissonant “Yeah no.”

No they are not. There are only 8 decimal places, not infinite.

That depends on whether the public key has been exposed.

Bitcoin addresses encode the ripemd160 hash of the public key, so by default when payments are made to new addresses they are not quantum crackable.

But when someone spends from an address they publish the public key to the chain as part of the spend. From then on, any new deposits sent to the same address are at risk of quantum attack

I bought a new TV in 2026 and refuse to connect it to a network. For good reasonS (plural).
tigereyeTO··on Restoring 5 GHz Wi-Fi on an LG C5 by changing its webOS region
In addition to the other (great) reply pointing out the difference between 5G and 5Ghz, there is also the nuance of channels within the 5Ghz band. While the band may be lawfully used within a region, some channels within that band may be banned.

So it’s not enough to say “we have 5Ghz wifi here so it’s fine” because there are many channels within that band which may not all be treated equally.

tigereyeTO··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Both an American and a Canadian could reference Donald for the same reason: Donald imposed the tariffs.

Canada also participates in trade, is located in the same geographic continent, and is also suffering housing issues.

I too struggled to identify which “our” the comment referred to

You’re right that P2PKH addresses use the hashed public key, but there are other address types.

The very early days of Bitcoin had addresses created using the now-deprecated P2PK address variant—Pay To Public Key. These addresses are simple encoded secp256k1 public keys with no hashing.

There are still > 1.5 million BTC stored in P2PK UTXOs as of this post, all of which are up for grabs to the first person who can derive the private keys for the known public keys

tigereyeTO··on Obsidian Sync now has a headless client
Synology Drive is a file and folder syncing system.

Obsidian is a note and wiki syncing system.

You should use an obsidian syncing system if you want to sync notes and wikis. You should use a file syncing system if you want to sync files.

tigereyeTO··on Bugs Apple loves
This is a frustrating result of “syncing” an album of photos from a computer.

Apple decides that—despite you putting your album on your device—you are not allowed to alter the album in any way. You can’t edit photos or delete them…you must do those things on the computer instead.

It’s awful.

The publication of this research.

One possibility discussed in the publication is that the sudden influx of freshwater from Lake Agassiz was caused by the Perkins Louisiana impact.

Interesting. There’s a hypothesis that Earth was struck by an impact 12,800 years ago in North America but the impact site wasn’t identified

It's not clear to me what the NFC tags add to this experience.

tigereyeTO··on Zizmor would have caught the Ultralytics workflow vulnerability
This post has left me wondering: what is zizmor? What is ultralytics? Are these words actually real or is someone having a stroke?

Not all nerds know all projects so I decided to educate myself and followed OP’s links to learn about Ultralytics:

> Ultralytics YOLO11 is a cutting-edge, state-of-the-art (SOTA) model that builds upon the success of previous YOLO versions and introduces new features and improvements to further boost performance and flexibility.

Ultralytics’ readme doesn’t explain what ultralytics is or does. Thankfully Zizmor’s readme describes itself clearly:

> zizmor is a static analysis tool for GitHub Actions. It can find many common security issues in typical GitHub Actions CI/CD setups.

This isn’t a critique on OP: I enjoyed reading about the vulnerability(ies!) you found and I learned a lot. I’m just generally frustrated that so many readme files on GitHub fail to describe what the project actually does, Ultralytics being just one example.

Have fun and keep hacking
