That doesn't sound consistent with the "100% FREE, ALWAYS" banner.
By charging money from the get-go, you'll attract more serious clients, and you won't scare people away when you eventually spring costs on them.
If you zoom out to 50%, that's about how big I would expect them to be on a phone, and some of the gestures (especially tap vs. hold) start to blend together.
I'm not sure he's the best example of a skeptic, given his belief in the Cottingley Fairies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cottingley_Fairies)
Of course, you could argue that he reacts so badly because they try to trap him there forever...
I think that's one of the causes of this controversy - most people don't have a passing familiarity with transgender culture. I know transgender people, but had no idea that it is hateful to use their birth name. Later in the paragraph the author even acknowledges this, calling the editors on the other side "a crowd of people . . . approaching transgender issues for the first time."

If Caché had no strengths, I would agree with you, but as a non-relational database, it's pretty good. Sparse associative arrays are the default data structure, so it's very popular in, e.g., medical applications, where you would want to be able to store thousands of different things, but any given patient will only need a few of them.
Nintendo's apparently going after those who don't care about 3D or aren't willing to spend an extra $40 for it, but I don't know why that means the 2DS has to look like a tablet - I would've thought the clamshell design had other advantages like protecting the screens and allowing the user to adjust the viewing angles.
