valeg··on I'll be stepping back from leading product for X
I have had a similar issue and support gave zero fs. I still cannot log in to my account from one of the Android phones (I suspect that it blocklists the older Android versions).
valeg··on IMDB now automatically creating user accounts when you are signed into Amazon
Amazon has been an absolutely terrible custodian of IMDb. I am still nostalgic about user forums...
valeg··on It's a shame what's happened to radio
5G Broadcast is too little too late to the party but seems like a nice idea to preserve the medium. My phone has 3,5mm jack but no FM Tuner...
valeg··on CD sales growth outpaced vinyl in the first half of 2026
CD Audio may espouse "lindy" properties. No DRM (CD format has resisted attempts) and relative easiness of manufacturing + decent enough audio quality. It is a great engineering achievement and sales are bouncing back!

The end of mail-in voting? It seems this is the whole reason of this renewed push. Also, pillage the real estate.
valeg··on Ask HN: What game have you replayed more times than any other?
Fallout: New Vegas. Mostly, I am getting curious about the mods and then it just grips me and I walk scorching hot Mojave again.

"Morbius" of social news aggregators
valeg··on Trump says JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America rejected him as a customer

valeg··on Pentagon's 'SWAT team of nerds' resigns en masse
Red Guards
valeg··on Mark Zuckerberg's failed negotiations with the FTC to end Meta's antitrust case
Trump is offended by measly sums which Zuck has put in his pocket. Anti-trust crusade is a perfect way to shake more from him. Give the bully an inch, he will take a mile.
valeg··on Meta antitrust trial kicks off in federal court
This seems like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yukos lite So much for Zuck's white flags and ring-kissing.

Whoa!
valeg··on XFCE 4.20 aims to bring preliminary Wayland support
Xfce is not perfect but pretty close (in *nix realm); it is a stable WIMP desktop environment. Everything where you expect it to be, no excessive feature creep, stable. It is like a tool, I love it. I wish it had a better brand. Too nerdy.
valeg··on We should have given Ukraine more weapons earlier, says ex-NATO chief
NATO is afraid to move the nukes to even Poland. Putin moved the nukes to Belarus.

As I see, such constant displays of weakness may provoke Putin to some wider war. Russian society has transformed. There can be only war in the future. Just look at his government budget: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/sep/30/russias-defenc...
