There could be tons done to still have our modern looks, but have old skool performance. issue is mainly in how we store and subsequently use data.
tons of people still use DOS era softwares just due to this very fact. their old programs they can perform the same work 1000 times faster due to how data is stored / presented. It generally doesn't go through 1000 layers of processing each click, and a lot of data is stored as a 'view', not some raw binary blob to be parsed out again on demand..
The problem with these kinds of censorship actions is that there is literally no end to it, and it will never solve the real root cause of the problem. It will just suck up resources and people/institutions will keep complaining that they got into trouble because someone took a tweet as a truth...
since you can't create an AI which takes into account all the flaws of all humans present in their knowledge and consciousness, a system which has such perfection is impossible to make. (even these flaws are often just perceived flaws and them being a flaw is an subjective matter based upon other subjective matters.)
it's not about having all the data for an AI, it's more about understanding what lack of data means to humans and how it affects their decision and interpretations, and about how the same data can be interpreted in many ways.
Even if all humans were exposed to the same data as each other exactly, they would likely still carry different opinions and interpret the same data differently leading to a completely different decision making process... I think this at the moment is inherently impossible to create within or take into account in current computers or programming.
If you would reverse it, and have humans take all their morals and ethics from computers, what is left of humans? Isn't that what makes a human? the ability and/or inability to do this themselves. i think no one is looking for a world or working towards a world where only 1 human exists in multitude. i think the work should be focused on preserving the uniqueness of identity while maximising its potential within that uniqueness. That also makes me of the opinion that AI should thus be specialised within domains of operation, and not attempted to be implemented in a general fasion.
perhaps an AI system could exist which comprises of many specific AI systems, which would make it more generally applicable based upon many input from specialised AI systems, who knows. But 1 system and 1 data set will never be able to cover inherent uniqueness within humans.
you can argue about some rotten apple humans who have 'bad behaviour', but even the good people you know, are wildely different from you. admit it. you are not them, and they are not you and that's how it should be.
j/k ofcourse.
I think it's good what you do. A little positivity can go a long way. even though you might not expect it from someone who influenced you positively, but hearing such feedback might mean a lot to them personally and lift them up in their lives and day too, knowing they had some positive impact on someone. Imo too few people do this. good stuff and keep it up!
say if matter / observables go from 0hz - 30+ Zhz.. is dark energy from 30+Zhz to ???Zhz and perhaps anti matter / energy from ???Zhz to ???????Zhz? (more question marks being higher ? :D )
or is this completely invalid and a dumb thought?
either accept it and settle at an employer, or change jobs. often this happens around 5-6 years in if not sooner.
its ok to settle at an employer and just be happy wiht your life. if it sucks the life out of you i'd suggest finding a new challenge. with a resume of longer term employment at a big corporate like google , finding a new challenge should be doable.
perhaps you enjoy a startup, its a lot more dynamic and versatile, though often pays less atleast initially. personally i hate that, and try to challenge myself in my current work rather than looking for different jobs. but then again i don't have issues with my job being a bit boring / stale as i try to find things outside of work to fufill me which can also help a lot to fight depression / stress etc.
in the end you sound like you need some thing you are passionate about to work on to feel good about yourself, this is normal, but it doesn't have to be your job which gives you this.
it explains the 'concept' of these kind of attacks and why its kind of impossible to make an abstraction which does not suffer from such flaws in the presence of high precision timers which are in turn needed for high precision applications (not sure what, i guess realtime applications or things which need to measure super precise.. maybe audio / video ? )
the paper goes a bit further and imo is a bit simpler to read than the original spectre / meltdown papers.
that being said, if a person wants to work at a startup, i'd say they already accept that the wage will be much lower than at some big corporate or company who is making good income already. it seems a bit if not a lot silly to me that someone would join a startup in the early phases but then demand a corporate salary. startups are kind of a popular term, but think about it... people used to actually build stuff and then get funded / success, instead of wanting funding upfront without any actual effort put in (thats exaggerating i know). A lot of startups these days though really ask for ALOT of money from investors without having even an MVP or viable product yet. I can't see why someone would pay for just an idea ... it seems a lazy way to make a startup. Building something, prove it works, and investors will have no issue to invest?
If it's really related to the in-game content and lore i'm sure players will figure that out and create a new more positive association to the word.
For example, a male donkey is called a "Jack", yet people still name their kids Jack, not relating that to a male donkey... (maybe a little more benign example.)
Personally i wouldn't worry about it too much! it's not like the game is called CrystalMeth or something....
