Hey thank's Carl Jung's labtek. I'm 22% through Memories, Dreams, Reflections. Great read so far

It's kind of like an active way of reading, also like others said, you're forced to read ever word, painstakingly. I find it fun first and foremost

No email required, it's just to save progress across devices.

Gamified elements for some reason are an incentive for me. Combos when you get long streaks without errors. Can load epubs and plain text. Options for typing letters/punctuation/case. I actually got the idea from typ.ing, but there was stuff that I wanted to see that I couldn't find on other typing sites. Also I kept losing progress which I found to be really frustrating

this makes me long for the past. why does this feel so safe and cozy? gents?

they might as well stop using any software, if not now, within 1-2 years.
vegnus··on Ask HN: Time to read those programming books?
obligatory SICP
vegnus··on Advanced coding in low-resource programming languages
I thought LLMs had been good at this for a while? I vibed a language out and the LLM could write in it pretty well. I even got Qwen 3.8 to write it (though it was pretty slow, it managed to get it done)

Maybe it has to do with people losing their minds at the mention of it? Spend however long on a game, for some random to come out the woodwork and attempt to invalidate everything because you decided to disclose.

You know you can make your UI not look like AI wrote it, with AI, right?

vegnus··on It's still ok to enjoy programming
Did I say programmers haven't done anything culturally significant? No, clearly not. I'm saying the vast majority of all programmers have not done anything culturally significant
vegnus··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
I thought Rich Hickey's sand cookie analogy was more apt than this bed shitting one.
vegnus··on AI lab offers free plumbing and HVAC repairs across three cities to train robots
I worked with plumbers on a daily basis for a number of years. The masters were generally never actually plumbing for the most part. I would say 95% of them did not treat plumbing as an intellectual exercise. Of course, this is just an anecdote. I heard the "your shit is my bread and butter" hundreds of times from different plumbers thinking it was comedies final joke.
vegnus··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
Doesn't that imply that there's nothing inherently wrong about shitting in someone's bed and then sleeping in it?
vegnus··on AI lab offers free plumbing and HVAC repairs across three cities to train robots
I think the worst part of it is that we are forced to value ourselves based on our jobs. Of course, there's no easy to answer to what everyone would do if no one had to work again.

I don't think people would choose to fix toilets to survive if they didn't have to

vegnus··on AI lab offers free plumbing and HVAC repairs across three cities to train robots
It was inevitable. Who want's to pay an extra bundle for a plumber to come in and destroy a bunch of walls to fix a clogged pipe? No job is safe.
vegnus··on It's still ok to enjoy programming
I think it's definitely not accurate to say that these people have not made anything significant. It sounds like coping. How many programmers have made anything culturally significant? How many are just codemonkeys who fulfill someone else's requests, take their cheques, and go home?

In my opinion, the whole anti-LLM coding thing is purely ego preservation. And I get that, who the hell want's to believe their high paying job is going away? To say using LLMs cannot achieve results bigger than 'one-shotting a note taking app' is really just not true.

Comparing it to NFTs is absolutely wild also. NFTs literally were mass psychosis and had no value whatsoever. You're saying someone can't build software, even just for themselves, or otherwise, that doesn't have any value at all? How could that be true?

vegnus··on Ask HN: Are you hesitant to install vibe-coded apps?
I would ask why they chose for it to need to be installed, rather than just delivering some web application
vegnus··on Ask HN: Why do people say "I built it" when we should say "Claude built it"?
I disagree, you have control over the parts when using an LLM. You don't have control over the parts when buying a pre-built

Why do people say I built this computer when they didn't manufacture all the parts?
vegnus··on Ask HN: Why do people say "I built it" when we should say "Claude built it"?
I prefer "I willed this into existence"
