I thought it was the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople?
I think it's pretty well understood that the Western Roman Empire towards its end was plagued by pandemics, in-fighting, self-interest and loss of centralized control, and the pressures of migrating peoples due to climate change. The weakening of the Imperial power coincided with the rise of the power of the Christian church supplanting the anemic WRE state.
If those places can suddenly hit 115F then so can the Bay Area. I am not saying it is likely but who would have said it is likely that Portland would hit 115.
I'm just curious why Assange and Wikileaks have failed to release the GOP emails. Despite the lofty rhetoric about being journalists they seem to have "picked a side" in terms of their stance towards the US Government. That's my criticism of both Assange and Wikileaks, they seem to have an agenda beyond their stated one.
From what I've read there are some laws regarding what certain types of individuals (executives, investors, extremely highly compensated employees) can do with Roth accounts and the stock of the companies they're running/investing in/contributing to which he broke.
It seems like a faulty way to analyze the problem in any case.
Atmospheric methane devolves into CO2 in about eight years, "on average." CO2 emitted into the atmosphere appears to stick around for 300-1000 years. The heat-trapping of methane is obviously much greater during that eight years but then it devolves into CO2. I guess the only way to draw a real conclusion would be comparing the amount of Methane+subsequent CO2 resulting from traditional animal husbandry with the amount of CO2 produced by this lab process.
It's not normal. In fact there was a police officer from Florida if I recall correctly who was reprimanded for voting in their uniform. It's considered potential voter intimidation to have a police officer standing around at a polling place.
Next time play the Arena Commander mode which is a game within the SC/Squadron42 games and functions as a simple ship combat sim and a great tutorial for folks like you who want to just mess around in a ship.
There is a similar FPS mode for people who just want to try out the FPS combat.
What was sold when they first launched was boring af but...
the promise beyond that was worth backing the game.
I logged in a few days ago (and I won't lie that they have a significant amount of work ahead of them) and I enjoyed myself. As I always do. I have enough real life commitments that my entire identity is not based around gaming, buying games, or complaining about games.
They agreed to do it and haven't done it. As Facebook was in the best position out of anyone to say whether they could or could not accomplish this moderation and said they could even though they apparently can't or don't want to, anything beyond that fact is really very meaningless.
The Biblical story has the shepherds out in the fields with their flocks when an angel heralds the birth of Jesus and there is some debate about whether this would have been the case during the Winter. Christmas is definitely based on pagan traditions though, which you can see in the traditions of bringing a tree into the house and decorating it.
Efficiency is for robots. I deliver value to my company on a continuous basis and if taking a nap in the afternoon means I work an hour or two in the evening then I don't see what worries The Economist should hold about the situation.
I don't know how long your commute is but I shudder at the notion of wasting my time physically travelling every day. Fortunately I am fully remote for at least the near future and I wouldn't mind travelling out every quarter for a week or something or some sort of periodic in-person work period. But sitting in traffic every day of your work week is no way to spend your life. Even taking mass transit means less flexibility in your day if it's not the automobile commute.
You should do some reading up on what is involved in applying for and receiving asylum in the US. Your post indicates an inaccurate understanding of what is involved and required for an asylum seeker to receive legal asylum.
Yeah, probably not any worse than fish (well, specific varieties of fish that have been found to have deleterious levels of mercury and received cautions against consumption).
At least for me, Walmart is just a vehicle for the Waltons to extract wealth from the country. I suppose if Walmart divested themselves from the Waltons and adopted some sort of pro-employee policies I might shop there more frequently.
My US city allows you to consume alcohol in public in a big section of the city center. So people stand around in line for BBQ drinking beer they've got in a cooler. Of course it's also completely legal for women to be topless in public in this city so it's not the American norm by any means.
I don't care. I have a 3080 I paid a pretty penny for so that I could play some games in high resolution and do personal machine learning projects. Between the cryto miners and scalpers I don't care what happens to those folks.
