wiseowise··on A new Go API for JSON
This is how you roll out features, C++. Congrats to Go team and users.

I don’t have an evidence that delusional people and nitpickers are the same people. I never said I don’t have an evidence that delusional people are delusional.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
Unfortunately for you, you probably do at some point.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
That’s where we disagree. Feel free to continue refining meaning of “solved” while I chill on HN while my agents are working.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
I’ve been there, your “high standards” is just noise and annoyance for other people, focus on business value instead of jerking on variable names and “perfectly” aligned folders.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
“Fix ticket-12345” with minimal supervision and a couple of refining prompts is pretty much solved to me.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
I’m going to assume you’re just distracted, and suggest to read again. Or maybe English isn’t your first language.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
That’s why you steer it, read the code, and steer it again.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
Because I’ve seen both and code created by your uncle might work and look good enough, and music and art created by your uncle is a fucking garbage that pollutes the internet.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
Always have a good chuckle at these doomerism bullshit posts. Our VPs are so busy it is impossible to find a meeting time, but suddenly they’ll develop ADHD and start vibe coding enough to replace 100 devs. Lol!
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
You don’t need to write anything by hand at your run of the mill tech job.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
They just live in denial. I don’t have any proof, but I suspect those are the same people that would nitpick your MR to death until you hint to their manager that this is not ok.
wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
a) Gemini is a fucking garbage

b) you confuse technical quality with product incentives

If you see this, company doesn’t care about product. And Google doesn’t care about quality for at least a decade now, all they care is a share price and speed of delivery.

wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
> how you make sure the thing that is being built is it's money worth.

By keeping my manager, and their manager happy.

wiseowise··on How I use AI (Oct 2026)
> I believe that anyone who says that writing code is no longer needed, was probably not a very good coder to begin with.

I’m probably the best coder in my org, which doesn’t really say much, but at least allows me to judge about the room temperature. It is solved. I don’t say that’s you, but the only people who say it isn’t “that good” are the same people who used to yak shave, rename and move things 10 times until it “feels right”.

wiseowise··on C++26 Disapproved
Wow. I’m surprised at the amount of downvotes. Are people really that in denial?
wiseowise··on Net worth for people aged 30–33 in the U.S.
You watch too much social media shit. People just don’t want to have children.

And in a 2024 Pew survey, among childless adults under 50 who considered themselves unlikely ever to have children:

Didn't want children - 57%

Couldn't afford children - 36%

wiseowise··on Show HN: I built a little browser game to practice Vim commands
> It can't possibly that much more efficient,

It is. And I’m not even an advanced Vim user.

> especially given that usually speed is not the limiting factor for what I do.

For me it’s not so much about speed as about comfort. Jumping into VISUAL and selecting something in a block, yanking the line, jumping pages, editors, searching within the file, filtering, sorting. And the most important part is that because it is so old and widespread there’s pretty much vim mode for any editor so I can use the same shortcuts between vim, VScode, IntelliJ, etc.

wiseowise··on Median net worth of U.S. households under 35 fell 23% from 2022 to 2025 (real)
Genocide is when you fixate on migrants?
wiseowise··on Show HN: Hacker Times, a New York Times-inspired version of Hacker News
Goomba.
wiseowise··on Why are Soviet math textbooks so hardcore in comparison to US textbooks? (2017)
Is that why USSR is a food for worms and the West still standing?
wiseowise··on Postgres 19 is late because so many more bugs are being found now
> The short answer is that LLMs happened. All software contains bugs, and PostgreSQL’s code base is large, complex, and old. Our git history – converted from CVS – now reaches back more than 30 years, and the first code was written a decade before that. There’s a huge amount of code, and that code contains a huge number of bugs. That’s always been true, and it hasn’t stopped PostgreSQL from being popular or successful. What’s different now is that it’s become vastly easier to find those bugs. Fixing them has also gotten easier, but not to the same degree.

LLMs are a gimmick, btw. This is an Anthropic marketing stunt, how much did they pay you? /s

wiseowise··on No AI, 52 min. Build all Linux Files utils in C by Hand [video]
This is the way.
wiseowise··on No AI, 52 min. Build all Linux Files utils in C by Hand [video]
It’s the most obvious conclusion, once you start using LLMs. There’s no grand conspiracy here
wiseowise··on Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament

Poland? Baltics?
wiseowise··on Cisco gives engineer unlimited AI tokens to rewrite legacy code
With how shit their software is, it would be better if even if monkey pooped and smudged it on a screen.
wiseowise··on Cuba is skipping its November 1, 2026 clock change and staying on DST until 2027
Yeah, because humans existed for only 60 years.
wiseowise··on MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display and Touch
Duo is a great idea. The only reason foldables suck right now is because foldable screens are a plastic joke.
wiseowise··on Type Server Protocol
No other language came even close to a combination of easiness and expressivity of Python.
